While at a song launch, Ananya picked Manish Malhotra separates to wear, rounding out the look with a pair of sneakers. And for a round of movie promotions, she teamed her mini with a crop-top, tinted tiny glasses and once again, a pair of chunky sneakers. Which look of hers do you like more?

  1. LOL at “Chunky” sneakers 😉 You girls throw some good puns around!

Both looks look good on her. The mini suits her a lot more. She carries it off very nicely. The sneakers didnt bother me at all. Loved that she kept it comfy.

  2. I have a very genuine question – how do these bollywood ppl walk outside on the streets or in public in such clothes. I mean not just her, but all of the new crowd, sometimes the itty-bitty clothes Malaika wears outside…I mean cmon, it is India and people don’t dress in such tiny clothes all the time (or maybe they do and I’m somehow stalled in time). Now the next sentence might not get my comment accepted – but isn’t such fashion bound to draw eyeballs in all the wrong ways? Of course women should be able to wear anything without consequences, but these ultra short revealing clothes are not normal – or are they? To add to the vulgarity bit, they look insanely uncomfortable and vulnerable to wardrobe malfunctions. I mean wear whatever on stage or in a movie, but when outside in public? Really?

  3. Maybe people are ok getting looks and maybe they don’t find this uncomfortable. To each their own. Let’s comment on fashion and leave morality aside – those two are getting divorced.

    • Hi PnP,

I’ve been reading this blog since years and honestly, you need to have a stricter policy with these body shaming/ moral policing comments. It is not in the spirit of discussion for some women to be burdened with always having an argument ready for why they shouldn’t be policed. I don’t think this is the way to create to a fun community where people admire women’s fashion without being sexist. These awful comments are mostly directed towards the younger actresses and it is so patronising.

Even aside from the shaming, comments here are such downers. ‘Oh she doesn’t have the personality to pull this off.’ ‘She has an aura of unhappiness’. How can you judge these things about women sitting far away behind a screen? You don’t have to praise every look but you don’t need to cast aspersions at their personality or self.

I’ve seen people complain about how the commentary is bland and not witty anymore and blogs like GoFugYourself are still fun. GFY has a very strict commenting policy and even with the worst (or most revealing) outfits, body shaming comments are not entertained despite Heather and Jessica’s own hatred of sheer dresses. If we want fun commentary, our idea of a light-hearted comments sections needs to separate from a mean-spirited/regressive comments section as well.

      • Here. Here! It is sad how any look that shows a bit of personality, experimentation or spunk is derided by so many commenters quite viciously while the same looks on the same actresses get rave reviews on leading international fashion blogs. There is this sanctimonious, sexist, deeply conservative cartel of commenters who will only approve your look if you’re a beautiful, statuesque woman in a traditional sari, classic separates or a bland (but never risqué) gown. God forbid you are under 6’ and you wear a gown because they’ll declare you don’t have the height to carry it off(which is nonsense and in which case half the Hollywood actresses would never feature on the best-dressed lists they do)! And of course if you experiment the slightest bit they’ll have the harshest comments to make, comparing you to a peacock/ genie/ ostrich/ school art experiment and what not even though this is supposed to be a fashion blog where clothes are art and not a “how to dress safe and boring without breaking a single rule” blog.

Even PnP’s commentary is viciously torn down for favouritism if they like a more avant garden look that the commentariat doesn’t approve of. Why come on this fashion blog if you don’t enjoy their opinions and you don’t want to see the slightest bit of experimentation or couture and you only go gaga over traditional saris worn the traditional way?!

      • I’m also noticing this huge group of people always asking moderators to shut down anyone who questions or dislikes a post. “So conservative/sexist/boring and how such comments are allowed..blah blah”. It’s not fair to immediately call the people commenting in anything but positive tones all this. And please don’t compare Hollywood. People have a right to say what they want…. appreciating something awful as her second mini appearance will not make this blog fun. There is no need to go running to moderators if you don’t like a comment.

        • True Chi Chi. Bollywood celebs also get lot of criticism for dressing modestly in traditional salwar kameezes. Then as per these people’s logic, the commentators should go gaga over modest traditional salwar kameez looks, right? So these people’s claims are wrong, ignore them.

        • I completely agree… Shutting someone down as sexist/boring etc just coz that person has a different opinion than yours is bullying… Everyone has a right to comment here..And as far as judging a young actress “she is only 19” etc etc ..Well that was something she or her parents should have thought about before opting for this career…
So yes even you guys running to moderators for everything.. Keep your moral policing to yourself..

          • Yeah true, as per these people’s logic, description and claims… Vidya Balan fits the bill perfectly for dressing traditional and she should be the fashion idol on these pages right? But everyone knows she gets lot of criticism for her dressing. I myself don’t like her styling and always think why she is regularly featured here?

          • Nobody should make sexist/body shaming remarks about anyone. This is in PnP’s comments policy and why I brought it up. If PnP judge a comment as inappropriate only then it is deleted. You should take it up with them if they delete something you felt was fine.

Also, just because someone is an actress doesn’t mean you can body shame or moral police them.
