Doing Desi
Doing red and green from head to toe literally was Amy, who attended the audio launch of Siva Thaandavam in Chennai today. Think the coordinating was too much or just right?

wow what kinda question is that…she looks super duper gorgeous!!
she looks sweet and props for doing desi but yes too much of matchy stuff going on there..
Neck up she looks pretty but otherwise she looks like a Christmas tree.
Even if her earrings and sandals match her outfit.. the fact that she isn’t wearing any jewellery on her neck or wrists makes this look work. i like it.
+1
I think it was just right. Fab!
When will we lose our obsession with light eyes and fair skin passing off as quintessential Indian?
No you are wrong. Indians come in all colours from light eyes, light hair and light skin to dark. One example is Nafisa Ali. She is a Kashmiri. She herself told this. Though Amy is a British, many Indians look like this. Here she looks like Tamannah.
I agree with INdians coming in all shades of brown but I don’t think any of us have white skin. Amy, being a Caucasian, has white skin. Even people who are considered very light skinned like Kareena or Karishma are not white skinned. They’d be considered brown or colored.
Amy has been getting these opportunities in B’wood because she is white skinned, blue-eyed and in addition to all this, very pretty. So she fits right in with actresses like Katrina Kaif though Kaif is very visibly brown inspite of being half Caucasian.
I may be wrong; these are my own views. Sorry for any unintended offence.
oh come on! half the kashmiri population looks like this. and yes, they ae “white” skinned, not brown!
Sorry to disagree but I have personally never come across white-skinned Kashmiris. Yes, to be fair, I have found them to be light enough to have a mediterranean skin tone (like Penelope Cruz) but never white skin. Again, I say this based on my experience of having spent 18 years in INdia and a little over 10 in North America.
And just in case I wasn’t clear earlier, I am not passing judgement on any particular skin tone. I don’t think being white-skinned automatically makes you comely. For example, I find Freida Pinto, Bupasha, Rani and Penelope Cruz very pretty and they are pretty brown. But I don’t find Padma Lakshmi or Shilpa Shetty pretty and they are pretty brown too. At the same time, I find Audrey Hepburn and Vivian Leigh pretty and both were white skinned, while I find Angelina and Jennifer Aniston or Sarah Jessica Parker pretty ordinary. So my estimation of beauty is not based on skin color at all.
kashmiris are white skinned. i live in pakistan and all the khans(pathans) and kashmiris are white as hell
she looks gorgeous! the matchy stuff does not take away anything from the look
Matchy, nice but not very movie star like.
I didn’t recognize her until I saw the caption! I thought it was Tamannah. In theory this is a “match-much” but it certainly doesn’t look that way on her. She looks pretty and not overdone.
LOL i thought the exact same thing. she doesnt look like a firang at all!
She looks beautiful, well put together and much desi-er than before!
I am Lovin’ this change on Amy. So refreshing.
Pretty – very and well co-ordinated. In Indian wear – green and red are such popular combination, that it really sounds like a borrowed thot when some one says it looks like christmas tree…..
Exactly, I get highly annoyed when people think that way, especially here in North America that I say to them, you’ve been conditioned! The rest of the world doesn’t think that way! This is a colour combo found in nature! Lol..
But coming back to Amy, she looks beautiful, this is not a match much and she looks quite Indian!
I agree. I think red and green is a classic colour combination. Feel sad for americans that they always link it to christmas tree.
y should there b an issue with the coordination?? She looks gorgeous!!
So stunning! She looks beautiful in desi attire. Not too much either, just right
Nah not a fan at all. Its just way to matchy – don’t like at all! She is beautiful but nah..
Agree with a christmas tree comment above!
she looks lovely
She looks lovely.
Very run of the mill, boring hair, and what’s with those sandals??? Seriously, she didn’t find anything better?
Neck up fabulous! Such a pretty face. Dont care for the dress
This is a much nicer dress than Kareena’s recent suit! She does look like a fair-skinned, light-eyed firang in an Indian outfit to me but atleast a well-dressed one!
She looks beautiful. I dont think it is OTT.
A simple pair of dull golden jutis would have looked much better than the blingy shoes she is wearing. Ankle up though, she is working the look inspite of all the green and red.
She looks gorgeous. never seen a white gal do indian and look this good. It usually looks rather odd (even on Katrina for that matter).
Matchy matchy sandals, and yet she looks so pretty that it doesn’t matter!
I am not too fond of matchy, matchy too much, but she looks really good. So, something’s working. I think it’s a simple outfit with tolerable glitter etc.
i love it looks perfect and that too from a girl from U.K, very well done
It all depends on the stylist, who wants to style her matchy/matchy (or) add another accessories to make her not matchy. Since Amy comes from non-indian background, she did very well for herself in this look.
BEAUTIFUL!!!
