In Vikram Phadnis

While sister Malaika went with a red Shantanu-Nikhil, bride Amrita wore a Vikram Phadnis lehenga to her sangeet. Hubby Shakeel wore an all-black sherwani. Perhaps, to complement his brother-in-law, Arbaaz, who went all-white! 😉

P.S. This was the official sangeet. The one before was hosted by Shakeel’s mom and was an unofficial sangeet to celebrate his mom’s birthday.

  1. Nice. She has the bridal glow. Don’t like the border on the blue-green dupatta. The red one is more appropriate and the work on it is better.

  2. she looks really pretty..btw, are gold lehenga’s the new trend for the year? both amrita and ayesha wore them for their weddings! i’m glad she paired it with a red dupatta for the bridal look..

  3. Nice lehanga. The work is exquisite. But still the color Red on her sis is more attention craving than the bridal one 🙂

  4. I like the groom’s sherwani.
Is there a trend of wearing lehengas in pastel/light shades? I would think people would like to dress brightly on their wedding.

  5. very pretty. also, the work on the lehenga is different from all the regular embroidery that we see, yet it is not loud and completely off the wall. i cant stand it when designers, just to stand out, design ludicrous outfits (am referring to manav gangwani’s sari/blouse concoction here). there are more graceful ways of being unique and expressing your personality in fashion. this lehenga embodies that, imho.

  6. the embriodery on the red duppatta seems to be a different shade than that of the work on the lehenga. 🙂 That is something people like me end up doing… wearing ruby jewellry with deep blue saris.. hoping people won’t be able to tell if the dark stone is red or blue… but it is nice to see even someone like her replacing the duppatta of the orig ensemble with a different one. It works well though..

  8. one more thing to add .. I read somewhere that Amrita is following Bebo’s footsteps and planning to go to size 0 .. mashallah she looks so gorgeous just the way she is!! .. why follow the ‘trend’?!

  9. @RT- I know i just saw her abs, and was like who needs sze 0? lol

back to the attire….that is gorgeous! she is looking really good!
I totally love the blue dupatta, minus the border! i would love to let a dupatta like that do the talking on a white chickenkari churidar suit! oh! time to book a ticket to India! lol

  10. I feel Amrita is looking quite under-dressed, considering how much she lives for fashion otherwise… there’s just something missing, I cant quite put my finegr on it… Looking at her, I would feel she’s a guest at a friend’s sangeet… Maybe Kareena’s, or Malaika’s, considering they look more dressed up and ‘oomphy’ than the bride herself… And this is nothing personal against Amrita… just that the expectations were so high, an the result is a bit of a let-down

  11. I like the blue-green colour combo better than the red worn by Amrita but nevertheless the lehenga is pretty…she looks good wish she’d done something different for her hair though

  12. I would have preferred a longer top – it would have looked a lot more elegant on the bride – however she looks radiant and very pretty and dare I say a million times better than the white dress she wore for the church do.

  14. Such an awful sad color on the lehgna. I don’t these brides like Ayesha/Amrita who wear colors as blah as cream/beige on their wedding day. Esp when there are soooooooo many beautiful jewel tones to pick from!!

  20. Malaika & Kareena soo took her moment away on this one! She sure is going to be dissapointed when she looks through the pictures of this night. Multiple things wrong; both Malaika & Kareena choosed much brighter colors. The dresses are way grand than Amrita’s. Secondly, both MK & KK are wearing Tikka’s & their hairstyles are apt. What was Amrita thinking with this whole simple look..and why would you choose your wedding day to experiment? Tsk! what waste
