On The Runway: Part Deux

It may feel like women dominated the runway on day two of HDIL Couture week especially in Maheep Kapoor’s show but three leading men stole the show. Amitabh and Hrithik walked for Karan Johar/Varun Bahl and and were joined by SRK on the runway later. The trio, on SRK’s cue, recreated few moves from ‘Ek Pal Ka Jeena’ and ‘Shaava Shaava’ that almost made you wish for KJo to go back to his multi-starrer mega-movie days. But I digress.

During the first show, Malaika Arora presented Queenie Singh’s jewellery in a Nandita Mahtani creation while Raveena Tandon wore Raj Mahtani’s (no relation to Nandita) jewellery. It was great to see Raveena on the runway but a heavy-choker piece is not what we’d have picked for her to wear.

  1. Can I jus say how ridiculously ugly Raj Mahtani’s choker on Raveena is? I mean seriously, do people not have an aesthetic sense anymore? It looks like someone regurgitated diamonds and emeralds on Raveena, and told her to walk the ramp after.

    • makes raveena look like she has no neck ! And elongating her head with that do does not help.
Mallika could have looked a lot better if not that sexy rekha portrayal. Hopefully thats just the photo.

  3. after tearing my eyes from duggu and amitabh, to the ladies!
malaika looks..hmmm…okish but makeup is very harsh and raveena looks nice except for the hair.
.i dont know what it is about ramp walks that excites hairdressees to defy gravity with the hair styles- it looks ridiculous each and every time

  6. Am I the only one who thinks that Hrithik looks like a magician in those clothes ?
I saw the vidoe and it was so frustrating to see these filmy guys steal the show from the models!
Malaika seriously needs to change her expressions.. We know and acknowledge you are VERY sexy .. now stop making those faces!
Raveena looks bad what’s up with that hair and the choker reaching her waist ??

  7. It is easy to believe that Queenie not only loaned her jewelery, but also that blingy short dress and the hideous belt to Malaika !..If that is not enough, she offered her generous make-up lessons too!!

  8. Is it me or does Hrithik have the slightest resemblance to “The artiist formerly known as Prince”??? SRK looks smashing.. though, you cant see his entire outfit. AB Sr, looking good as usual.. but yes, SRK steals the show.

  9. What is wrong with Hrithik? He looks like a pirate…not in a good way. And he seriously needs to step away from the self tanner for a couple months. He’s looking orange and streaky.

  10. Okay, I’m honestly starting to think something is very wrong with me. Everyone is raving about the men stealing the show but I don’t see it – not to say the women fared any better.

AB’s slouched posture (and ew velvet), and HR’s hesitant walk (along with those fugly cuffs) make me crave for models who are WAY more fierce a la GQ Germany where footie players such as Schweinsteiger, Van Bommel, Kroos and Lahm look like GQMFs in the suits (or from earlier this year, the lederhosen photoshoot). The Indian fashion industry needs to get over Bollywood stars and start hiring models who can make atrocious OTT clothing look decent/good/fierce because this? This is horrifying.

  11. Too much Bollywood really takes away from the original purpose of ramp shows – to showcase clothes through seasoned models. Too many Bollywooders on the ramp do not add to the glamour quotient. That said, can’t understand Malaika’s and Raveena’s outfits at all. The jewelry adds to the garish effect.
