Tamil actor Amala Paul tied the knot with director Vijay last week. The wedding festivities saw the bride in a pink Anita Dongre lehenga at the sangeet, a red Kanjeevaram at the traditional wedding ceremony, a white gown by Himani at the ring exchange ceremony and a gold Sabyasachi floor-length anarkali at the reception. Jewellery from Amrapali and Joy Allukas finished out the wedding trousseau.

Our congratulations to the newly weds.

  1. The red kancheevaram is the better look on her. Suits her face. Lehenga seems too made up. she looks pretty disconnected in that that Sabya one. Like she was forced to wear it for the reception. Ha!It’s a tamil + mallu combo wedding, so I can kind of understand the need to do bling-bling. But not on board with the choice of jewelry.
    PS: Congrats to the couple.

  2. She looks lovely in the kanjeevaram saree. They make a good couple. She has the girl next door looks and her acting talent is just amazing ! Hope she continues working. Another wedding I am looking forward to is that of Nazriya Nazim.

  3. The pink lehenga and the gold Sabya were not the Top runners for me. The red Kancheevaram was the best look and the white gown also seemed to look nice.

  4. She looks most comfortable in the saree and the white gown made a lovely break in all the razzle-dazzle. She managed to look sweet in everything though.
    God bless the couple.

  5. The lehenga, the saree, the anarkali, none of them work. And the groom needed some intervention, although I must say that both of them look pretty good in the “ring ceremony” picture.
I’d also like to ask you guys how you know that her saree is a Kanchipuram silk. All Kanchi sarees are supposed to have a geographical identification mark (which are not very evident, I agree). They usually have contrast borders or zari or traditional motifs. This one looks nothing like a Kanchi silk.

    • Like in every other thing, modernity has come into Kanchipurams too. Shop at any good silk saree showroom in Kerala or Tamilnadu, you find special pieces like these. This particular design is from Seematti, Kochi, Kerala.

    • My mom says that if you look at the pallu on the inward part. The thread will be visible and there are of course varying degree of pure silk even in Kanchivarams. Any popular sari shop in Chennai from Nalli to RMKV will have it. More authentic pieces you can even order and get them weaved in Kanchipuram, TN which is obviously where the original silk is coming from.

    • Lol! I think P&P just went with where she started off her career and the most number of movies she has acted in. If we have to go with your way of wording things then they have to refer Sridevi ji as Tamilian who has worked in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada AND Hindi movies. That is just pretty silly.
