Sari Style
For her friend’s wedding functions, Alia sported saris, a purple one from Ekaya x Ashdeen featuring Chinoiserie motifs, a blue one from Punit Balana and an embellished ajrakh from Nidhi Tambi Kejriwal.
The Ashdeen was an instant favorite but given the strapless Chinese inspired top, I thought that choker sat way too high on her neck and the more I look at it, the odder it looked. Didn’t like the Punit as much and while the Nidhi Tambi Kejriwal was absolutely delish, would’ve preferred an ulta palla drape here.

Love the purple saree and blouse. But it looks very very silly to be holding the palla like that. Instead on the shoulder whether pleated or not would have looked sooooo much better. Alia always brings unintentional humor to most sightings, sigh..
I liked the other 2
Love the blue sari. Want to love the purple one but can’t look away from that sad excuse for a blouse.
I think she looks gorgeous
In all three.
Absolutely hate the drape/dupatta off the chest look, exposing the bare blouse look! It brings the whole ensemble down and ruins the look of a saree, plus find it vulgar and inappropriate for a wedding function. Why not just wear a lehenga. The Punit Balana saree is my favourite! Such a stunning colour and outfit.
PS : I see that highly edited studi pics aren’t not called out and an issue here 😉
At least I can see the outfits here and they don’t have a gold tone/sepia filter on them.
There is a distinct gold/sepia filter used for her photoshoots. These studio shoots are standard across the industry. One of them does something that looks remotely ok, the rest follow like sheep. It’s not as obvious here because the colours worn are deep and vibrant. If she was wearing lighter cream/gold based colours it would look the same as on Rhea, Sonam or Athiya (whose filter usage you had issue with). No way is the purple/blue/green in these pics that muted and dusty.
The point is that the filters here aren’t as strong some others that I have seen and just because I don’t mention in every post about the filters doesn’t mean I have some sort of bias which the original poster was subtly implying. It mostly annoys me when I have seen videos or real pics and outfit colors that look vastly different from what is in the photoshoot vs real life. That is when the angst comes out. In her case though, most outfits in the studio pics were close to real life colors that I saw on some pap reels. Moving on.
Anybody ID the jewelry with the blue saree plz? Its gorgeous.

All three looks would have hit it out of the ballpark if she wore regular blouses. The crazy designs and hence convulted styling to show off those designs are distracting. The sarees are gorgeous and should have been the main attraction.
oh so pretty in all, good styling too. but there’s a pattern of super low necks, chest show, i find modified or are these outfits made so.
revealing my age here but no one finds this over-curated? exclusive ensembles — obvs out for their first spin — sourced potlis and jootis, borrowed maangtikas and chandbalis for a friend’s wedding? i mean, employing a stylist for a premier or a movie promo is understandable but does no one in bollywood dress their own selves anymore? i wonder how it makes other girls in the gang feel, the ones who aren’t actors or have bottomless moneypits as husbands/fathers.
Ya sad no personal touch left.. all made up to look great and yet it’s not. Pre social media days remind me of how beautiful all were when dressed on own especially for something like a friends wedding, the chatter, discussion, planning, matching gosh. Could not imagine an outsider in wedding occasions except maybe a mehendi artist and makeup and hair stylist.
No clue if real will ever come back..
Agree. There is no sense of self whatsoever. And this is supposedly her be bestie…imagine treating something as special as this event too as a moolah outing and wearing sourced stuff. Head slap
But dressing themselves will reveal their downright mediocre worse abysmal tastes or lack thereof to the world. That a person can be in showbiz for decades and have no distinct palete/preferences, is clueless about art discernment or style and cannot pick a pair of jeans without help is deeply unattractive. These people are sanitised products and commodities running on pitches of perceived perfection. In no aspect of life would they want anything remotely humane about them revealed to the world.
There is literally no way Alia or any other star can win. When the stars dont hire the right stylists like Aishwarya then they are criticised. If they dress according to their taste then they are asked why cant they dress better with all the resources at their disposal. If they use the resources at their disposal, then they are asked why their looks are over curated. Alia is a working woman with a small kid and thousands of commitment. She is not a fashionista and knows her every look is going to be scrutinised and diced so she gets help. Big deal. And why do women need husbands and fathers to hire a stylist? Any working woman with a decent job can hire a stylist now.
She is looking incredible in all three pics. The textiles are so beautiful and artistic.
Just look at Athiya’s saree pics after this and see how elegance and glamor is defined
I do appreciate the jewellery details. Thank you.
