Sari Style

Wearing a paisley print ruffled sari with a one-shouldered blouse, Alia attended the designer’s 20th anniversary celebrations. Having seen her in the anarkalis, of late, this apppearance sure made for a nice change.

  1. This reminds me of Maya Sarabhai’s asymmetrical blouses (or as it was once called on the show, I kid you not, “adults” blouse). I don;t like this one bit, too much saree on the floor, those danglers are like temple run medallions and the chaptey baal are back as per shahi farmaan.

  2. Why did she bother wearing that glorified bra? And with her height , she is drowning in that sari and dont even get me started with the earrings and the paint brush like hair.

  3. I think this is great. She looks glamorous and the clothes lend her a sense of mystique which Sabya personified in his earlier collections before he became de rigueur.

  4. The blouse, I do not mind, even though it was difficult to find. She carries it off but all the ruffles make her appear to shorter than she actually is. The seemingly small but conspicuous bit is the metal belt buckle (with the Sabya logo). Cheapens the entire look. A brown/ dark tan slim belt would have worked better in breaking the print.

  5. For some reason it looks really really good.. maybe the light fabric and old world print. The fatigue of seeing her in two sizes big Indian wears is making me like this.. but it needed better hairstyling, the messed pony is not suiting,

  6. too much .print much?? Dont like it much..!
i have an observation… does Alia begin to mimic body language of people in/ around her life sub consciously? coz here her facial expressions are looking like madhuri’s.. look at the last pic..
her posing like deepika is a known fact now..as seen and reported over multiple posts.. waiting for the time she starts looking like Ranbir 🙂

  7. I love the print of the saree and the colours. But the ruffles are the bottom are so unnecessary and the fact that there is essentially no blouse makes the bottom of the saree look heavier than it is

These massive earrings don’t suit her and this would have been a perfect outfit to pair with open, flowy hair. Overall it just looks very imbalanced

  8. Is that a saree or a prestitiched saree gown sort of thing? I actually don’t mind the overall effect. It’s interesting and significantly better, atleast different, than the anarkalis she has been sporting!

  9. Can you please stop featuring Alia everyday? It’s kind of exhausting seeing her do same Indian/same hairstyle every time. I really miss her fun vibe which made her stand apart.

  10. The volume looks too much. Too much of the saree is sweeping the floors. I remember a Karisma look in printed Sabya with a printed blouse. Now that was stellar. Also, I think there has been an overdose of Alia. I know her movie is coming but it’s like she’s there everyday, staring down at us in her styled looks. I don’t see her personality in her latest outings.

  11. Thats a baad Deepika hangover Alia and her stylist seem to be having. Like the Saree or saree gown but that tiger belt has been a bit of an overkill in his designs now

  12. I like the print of the sari but that’s about all. The non-existent blouse, the chipkoo hair, the earrings that are bigger than her face and the pallu sweeping the floor are all big turn offs.

  13. Well, I saw her pics on Instagram and quite liked it. Loved this print from the 70’s. Hair could have been different though.
