Oh wow – she looks beautiful. Love it – the saree is gorgeous as well.
Sarees are not for Alia.. she’s too baby faced to pull it off. Looks more like someone dressed for their 12 standard farewell!! ?
Sarees are for everyone. Clothes are for everyone. Whatever a person wants to wear, is ok for them. Peace.
I wish I could like this multiple times!
She’s petite.. I agree. But let’s just body types be.
Sarees are for every indian woman. Just because she has baby face doesn’t mean she doesn’t look good in it. I would rather see all inidan heroines in sarees and kurtis than aping western movie stars, esp at award events.
Agree with last line. I like classy Indian wear over the wannabe aping of western celebs by Indian heroines.
Some emotional reaction to the saree!!!! People keep taking about Priyanka’s body type or Rani’s body type and what they should wear and what they shouldn’t. So what’s the big deal just because someone has an opinions on a saree.
What Stranger I assume is saying isn’t that Alia should not wear a saree but that she looks like a kid playing dress-up when she does. And she looks uncomfortable. Totally agree!
She’s kind of conscious awkward but nevertheless looking really good.
That’s a nice saree. But she looks uncomfortable in it. Guess the purpose was a photo op and not real devotion. :p
Let’s refrain from whether she has/had real devotion in mind on not. We cannot judge what’s in her/one’s heart from a picture.
I just want to point from a Bong’s perspective Durga pujo is all about photo op and gastronomics.
I wore my Tilfi sarees with utmost devotion and determination , drove miles and miles to change twice a day and wear 2 new sarees a day :-). I feel sartorially blessed already :-).
Everyone can wear sarees. But Alia cannot carry sarees at all.
She’s looking nice
Love her saree and she looks lovely.
Alia look absolutely beautiful in this saree.
I think she looks really sweet. Don’t understand why some people associate a moral high ground with wearing sarees.
This. I have been feeling the same with all the event appropriateness advice, drape policing and such in the comments section. Of many million things, saree evolved out of the Indus Valley civilization. Not the other way around!
I love that saree. It’s so modern, festive and stylish without going OTT.
And alia carries it off really well.
I really dislike the comments about her baby face or she is too short to carry off gowns etc. If she is too short to carry off gowns and too baby faced to carry off sarees then what is she supposed to wear ?
She was standing next to hrithik at this event who is a tall man and is 45. She neither looked too short with him or too young so lets leave the labels behind.
Shoo in for an Asha Parekh biopic or a 60s retro film of the Asha kind.
She looks lovely.
She looks like a teenager wearing an age appropriate saree and blouse, and not oozing any sexiness. May be, it doesn’t work for her given the industry she’s in, where sexiness seems to be a must. But, let’s not give in to that expectation, and see her for what she is- a petite 20sthg lady with a baby face, looking absolutely beautiful in a well draped saree with minimal jewellery and make up. How spiritual she’s while she’s looking beautiful on her way to a spiritual event, I think, is none of anyone’s business, or even power to judge.
gosh, Alia obviously ignites some passions! I see a young woman in a youthful saree, neither OTT nor underdressed, captured in some candid and some posed-for frames. from such innocuous material, we can apparently draw conclusions about too-little-piety, too-obviously-for-the-cameras, too young, too petite, too high a moral ground.
breathe, people.
Love Love LOVE that she’s accessorised with only the pair of jhumkis… classy & elegant & so very beautiful
My two bit, I think western wear has become a part of our life, just like speaking English is not aping west wearing western clothes is also not aping west. And these days we speak more English than we would our own language
Western wear in the sense, I was saying about the excessive skin show in the name of glamour at award events. Instead they could wear classy Indian wear.
she is looking great in that saree.it is very age appropriate for her
Reminds me of soni razdan in the third pic. Beautiful bone structure and let’s not forget there are all kinds is beauties. Baby faced, mature etc. We are all humans & not meant to be cookie cutter barbies.
She looks very pretty!
Gorgeous sari, colour and earrings. She looks pretty.
I am late here. Too many comments on her height. Any idea how tall she exactly is? As for having a baby face, that’s a blessing. Isn’t it?
