In Manish Malhotra

It was another Manish Malhotra suit for Aishwarya, who wore a blue and gold variation to the Delhi promotions of PS1. The blue felt just a wee bit better than the rest of the ones we’ve seen. Having said that, anyone know why she is only picking MMs for this promotional series?

  1. I want to cry – if she would not have dressed this way since eons, i would have accepted this as an in character look. but she always dresses so OTT. it’s either OTT or plain jane airport look

  2. oh gawwwddd.. MM and his OTT clothes.. a classic case of beautiful woman is terrible clothes.. sigh..
we need some respite there – either plain bosom or plain sleeves..
May be MM is sending feelers to South stylists. .lol.. Doubt its working.

    • The South Indians next to her are doing just find and are perfectly stylish. Let’s not use the “ south” tag for garish outlandish outfits please… it’s plain disrespectful.

  3. Okay, So Aishwarya Rai has been a disappointment, an eyesore, and what not. And I, sort of agree. No, I get that the lady has been in the business for now three decades and for all the glamour, benefits, and I don’t know the lady-in-question personally, spotlight firmly placed you, it is exhausting. I empathise. But on the other hand, I have three thoughts about this entire situation. One, the lady is all commitment for her international appearances. Her styling, makeup, dressing up, enthusiasm is on-point, now whether we like it or not, is subjective and not the point here. The point is, she is in there, which is not so in the current situation. Two, it’s not that you make a film every second month. This is a release in quite a long time, good. Then why not plan the entire look for the promotions and related appearances and then go back to her life. I am all for personal style and not breaking back or bank for trends, but this is not a personal statement, this is ‘eh! to hell with it’. She has done things to her face-completely her business and choice, so she isn’t exactly, ‘this is how I look, this is how I’ll be’. Because, going back to my point one, she does, does it. Just not for her in-the-country, local appearances. Three, what’s with the redundant beauty pageant poses? Is she on the Miss. Whatever stage and doing the exotic Namaste? It’s a long comment and I respect individual freedom, will, choice, agency, all of it. But she’s a professional actor, who’s promoting her film unlike some, who just don’t. So, why not work this out better in this new world?

    • I agree. I’m personally sick of the pose more than her choice of tired makeup and TV soap outfits. A leg forward, an arm resting on the waist, another in front in lotus-holding resting position, a blank, for-the-cameras doll smile plastered on the face…like she reserves all the confidence, flair, and liveliness for international events. Can we see some spunk once in a while, Ash? Surely that’s not asking for too much?

    • Aishwarya has been in garish anarkali for ridiculously long that my eyes hurt…. I don’t think it’s stylist picking these clothes for her….

  4. She’s one of few women who can really pull off the scraped back hair in a bun, wish she had tried that here…her current hairstyle needs to go

    • She used to wear sabya sarees n hair in a bun in her 30s… And now sadly she is avoiding sarees … This PS promotions have been a wsted opportunity for Ash.

  5. She’s drowning in her Anarkali’s and center parted long hair of late.I’d love to see her in something along the lines of the black Elie Saab gown she wore for Cannes 2012 appearance.

  6. Isn’t MM himself embarrassed churning out these mass produced outfits which all look the same ? Sure Sabya can be repetitive too but at least it’s tasteful . Also she’s always trying to hide her body & face by any means , she definitely feels insecure with her body & face ,

    • No MM fan here but he has some better outfits too. These seem to be an Aishwarya pick, not the stylist or MM. even when she wore AJSK she picked the worst options.

  7. I give up.
A saree with a bun/braid/ponytail is a no-brainer for any South Indian event.
And Manish Malhotra does sleek sarees too. Why go for these gaudy suits again & again?

  8. short answer. she doesn’t care about her appearance, or her fans, or any of it really. i’m sure it’s not fun to be her at this point of her life.

  9. The Color and heavy embroidery with a blue-gold tone looks beautiful on her, she looks awesome, her style maybe from bygones but her persona is so larger than not-having great fashion sense, that she covers it up like it’s no big deal.

  10. Madhuriji and Aishwaryaji, you guys are eternally pretty even with your wrinkles. Her hair is clearly trying to shield something and it doesn’t have to be this way.

  11. This is hideous from a fashion perspective… She’s not even trying.

And I’m tired of her long and weird responses to simple questions about “ craft”, “artists”,”respect”…. She’s tried too hard to look perfect but comes across as so forced.
Just be yourself for once please.

  12. Even she looks so uncomfortable. She doesn’t seem to be in her element in the public eye anymore. Someone made a comment about her reserving spunk at Cannes…sorry, in the last few years even that spunk has gone down.

  13. Am pretty sure this is all Ash’s doing and not the stylist. Any lay person can point out that Ash prefers wearing tents and have middle parted hair to cover up for her body insecurities. Eka styled Nithya menon so beautifully in Ok kanmani . it must be the non compliant celeb in this case.

  14. She and MM are true blue formula for disaster, pun intented.

But I am more put off by her poses than her clothes now. What is with this 1990s pageant posing?!

  15. I wish she would wear the fuchsia sari and the jewelry that Vidya is wearing. She would look so amazing in that. She is south indian so I wonder why she won’t wear more ethnic Mangalorean saris.

  16. Have to say, even going back to her old favs of AJSK would be better than these anarkalis she’s been wearing. Such a pretty lady, such wasted opportunities in spite of all the resources she has.

  17. everything looks terrible, that hair, heavy makeup, and heavy outfit. and she’s so beautiful, she’ll look so lovely in a simple look, miss the days of ‘hamko humise churalo’

  18. To put it simply, the other two actresses have dressed better than Aishwarya. They may not be as beautiful but they certainly look better.
