In Jean Louis Sabaji

“Oh Lord!” That was my first reaction at seeing Aishwarya Rai in this gold snakeskin Jean Louis Sabaji gown. I actually don’t mind the theme of going gold and quite like the back detail but that mermaid-esque bust design and that sleeve was just so so terrible, it was very hard to even warm up to this appearance of her.

      • The pleats ARE so beautiful. Look at the way they fall on the carpet! The front part of the gown and that sleeve are bad but cmon, it is a beautiful train! Have to give credit where it is due!

  1. She looks goddessey of a different universe.. underwater, matrix.. anything but that dress is really unparallel..! The way the trail falls on floor actually looks like metal sheets. The matchy shiny make up doesn’t work for this metallic look.

  2. The train is so well put like a origami art… I mean how much time the helpers might have taken to arrange it on the carpet before getting clicked…
Must be so funny to watch……

  3. in spite of the bad sleeve design, i somehow like it.. not really sure why though.. probably because of it being different from her usual boring turnouts

    • if you see the videos you’ll see its terrible – she has no shape from the back and it made her look like a cutlet wrapped in fancy foil!

  4. I hate the arm with the dragonesque points. The more I see it though the less I mind it.
I dont like the overly straight hair at the back as it’s too harsh and fake.
The makeup is nice in the long shots. Its definitely different but do I love it? No not really

  5. I am pissed. Why why why Aishwarya? Why Aastha? Why? Why this gown? Why? Was so eager to see her on the red carpet. And she and her team came up with this. This makes me angry, sad..urgh! Such a waste…….

  8. Okay I won’t talk about the gown because enough has been said but…what is that horrendous makeup?? It’s absolutely terrible along with her pout. As is the decolletage contour. This is a miss on all accounts.

  9. People who know about fashion and where it is going love it. Behenjis and Auntijis who want sequin and feathers on everything will hate it.

    • This is just so mean … how is this comment about fashion ?? How did it get moderated and approved ?? What’s wrong in being a behenji..
I have never seen it , but I can imagine.. this is how “ I know it all” “ self proclaimed” fashion girl would bully a simple girl who doesn’t match her fashion choices …by calling her BEHENJI ..!
I am so disappointed in P&P that they let this get posted ..

  10. Good lord. What is this shiny disco ball look? The dress, makeup and hair are all competing for the most shiny award. I don’t know where to look. It takes a lot of effort to make this woman look bad. Tragic

  11. The train is beautifully constructed. It must be so hard to come up with something eye catching and new in the sea of sequins, ruffles and feathers.

Given her stature at Cannes, she can take risks… this is surreal and futuristic…I like!

  12. Good to see that they have not photo shopped her to look white, and although I do not care for the dress I am glad she is over the half black/half red hair

  13. I like that her hair color is back to black, the red didn’t suit her. I hope she doesn’t start imitating the kareena trend of sucking cheeks in.. She has a lovely smile. Dress is kind of tacky from front.

  14. Risk went wrong all the way. Aish was first to represent glamorous side of our ladies on this carpet and earned fair recognition too.
but now seeing her with this looks is so disheartening .

Do you guys really want to see another big puffy dress in different colors like everyone and their mother is wearing? It is not high fashion to keep repeating the pretty princess dress all the time. The futuristic look and the quirky train here is interesting if nothing else.

The only big problem I see here is that it may not be suitable for Ash’s body. This fabric shows off every minor issue and Ash looks like a stuffed sausage especially in the stomach area. If a really tall and skinny model had worn this, it would have been a wow moment. But still props to Ash! I love that she marches to the beat of her own drum and does’t succumb to what everyone else is doing.

  16. Unfortunately this look does her no favors. How I wish this gown was made from a different fabric and and color because it’s well designed. Aishwarya’s hair looks good, however that pout is ugly.

  17. What’s wrong I don’t know. For me this was a stand-apart gown amongst the sea of similar gowns !! It worked big on the res carpet (for me). Sorry but where’s the design part in all other million gown appearances? This WAS different.

    • True.. I really feel she’s looked her glam best . But the bad part here is probably the reptilian gown in all gold n slight green shimmy to it. Had it been a simpler gown all same colours n non tentacular arms, it would be less creepy and more aesthetic.

  19. Considering the successful outing of her at Cannes, this must be a conscious decision by the team to present her in a different look and make up. Totally unexpected. Out of the blue!! But personally I couldn’t warm up to that dress, reminded me of some chameleon, felt like puking. Nonetheless she looked stunning, she carried that dress oh so well. Waiting for her next appearance!!

  21. This is so appalling. Whoever decided to put this lovely lady in that gold foil crap should never dress anybody again. I want the Aishwarya back from 2014 Cannes.

  24. Am I the only one who sees how terribly unflattering the fit at the back is? Those laces coming down all the way to the butt makes her look squat, and because her physique type lacks contours, it looks like sausage stuffed casing from the back. Her face and expressions actually makes it seem as if she knows as this, and has seen Diana and the others who have done so much better than her, and seems miffed by it.

  26. Just saw a couple of videos … Aish was so uncomfortable. She was unable to walk. And the hand on the waist pose was all along… even while walking….It was as though she has been stuffed in the dress and now unable to move or walk.

  27. In the third pic, showing her back, why is she holding up her right hand , as if she’s asking one of the photographers – do you want a thappad (slap) ?

  28. This is a lovely dress, but as someone said, not for her body type. It looks very bad from behind with no waist. Perhaps it would have looked better on Deepika with her tall silhouette. I love Aishwarya, but she really needs to tone that arms of hers. They look pudgy and uncared for (I am a pudgy girl myself before anyone jumps at me! :-)) But she really needs to tone her body to tighten it up a bit.
