After Hours

Almost every International fashion house in the recent times has released a short film and while we haven’t seen the like from our own designers yet, stylist Pernia Qureshi released her very own short film very recently, touted to be India’s first. (While that in itself warrants a watch, it was also fun trying to spot clothes, accessories et al. Just can’t get past the beautiful sheer Anamika Khanna that’s begging to be brought into the fold of my closet! :p)

An interesting film… But, the music was bit of a kill-joy; so jarring for the mood of the video. Also, could’ve done without that dancing bit.

Tell us what you think!

P.S: See the making of the video here.

  1. I’ve always believed Pernia Quireshi is a talented, gorgeous girl, but I mean… I’m not sure WHAT that video was?
In my opinion, the video lacked a story board, which could possibly guide the viewers from one scene to the next… Some of the clothes didn’t suit the models who were wearing them and hence looked really awkward and out of place. The music was kinda catchy, I gotta admit, not gonna lie and the fashion was well, myeh. Pernia Quireshi is definitely capable of so much more so for me, it’s kinda sad when you await a project as exciting as this one and get so heavily disappointed. The video seemed all over the place and the last ‘clubbing/dancing’ scene looked like those clubbing scenes they used to show in CID back in the day with fancy lights and table covered with a white cloth topped with 5 bottles of Indias finest and some glasses to represent a bar. I don’t mean to be harsh though. But I’m glad she did this though because it sort of brings in a new level of thinking amongst Indians, to do something different and non cliché.
Not forcing my opinion down anyones throat- just being totally honest here.

      1. Those models ? (or are they just friends doing a favor, no attitude what so ever)
      2. That makeup – eekssss.
      3. Those hairstyles :- pulled back ponytail – Really ?
      4. The expressions :- Cdn decipher anything
      5. Those flats with that dress (the white one ???)
      6. The so-called party-get together theme ????
      7. The climax dancing – so 90’s jam session

PHEW!!! I am sure Pernia cd do much better or did smone ghost style and direct the video using Pernia’s name (like what happened to Sonam’s appearance at cannes)

  2. I agree with Fashionmeal. Pernia as a stylist presents some innovative, striking looks. But this video lacked cohesion, and the lighting & set design took away from the beauty of the garments and models.
The concept of fashion shorts is new (at least to me), so I appreciate the novelty and look forward to what’s next.

  3. Isn’t Pernia the one who designs Sonam’s looks? I thought she was better than this!!
This is like circa 80s ads playing on Doordashan ..hell they even had big hair!

*really crappy* I thought these videos were supposed to exude style in every frame.

  4. The first 59.5 seconds were excruciatingly bad. The second 59.5 seconds were merely dreadful. The so-called “music” sucked. I hated the face veil… and I don’t remember much else. Not too successful, I’m afraid!

  5. It’s a tacky video. If Pernia Qureshi was aiming to showcase her talent at luxury styling, this is not going to do the job for her. It’s shot badly, the models don’t look like they know what they’re doing, the music is really killjoy, and most of all, the clothes look anything but extraordinary.

  6. Whats with that close up of some hairy hands with some jewelery in the beg (which ofcourse later is revealed to be of a man)? those frames are so SICK and ugly .

  7. I’m thinking Pernia should stick to her day job. (ie styling, and not directing)
That one song in Aisha worked better as a fashion film, then this.

  10. I was so excited to see this film… i love collecting fashion films… but i’m sorry this cannot be called a fashion film… its a terrible attempt at making a bad fashion film… I agree with most of the comments above… the music was very bad, the clothes though may look good in person somehow they translated really bad in this film, maybe it was the way it was shot or really bad camera work. For sure there was no direction and the choice of models was bad too… it puts across no message on high fashion whatsoever. The disco scene is LOL funny…like it was done in a bad B grade 90’s film… I expected so much more out of Pernia… very dissappointing.
