Aditi and Siddharth attended the Lakhani-Bhagchandka wedding on Saturday with her in another pavadai thavani in a lime green and red combo paired with jhumkis and a choker and him in a jacket and shirt set paired with a veshti.

They looked lovely.

    • Its not for little girls for sure. Pavadi Dhawani is worn by older girls who were started into covering their boobs post puberty. the 2 piece was a convenience to initiate them into a bigger piece later such as a saree. Saying “she can wear what she wants” and then questioning the choice??

  1. Just like age appropriate dressing is called out for young girls it should be called out and looked down upon for mature women. Dhavani is not worn by grown women.

    • These things change. Hardly any teen wears half-sarees anymore and grown women don’t wear sarees except occasionally. It is no different than wearing a mekhala chador.

Main thing is it allows petite women to wear large borders common in South sarees without it being across the whole saree.

    • For a south indian ….this outfit is worn by young girls….in south india lot of teens still wear half sarees ….most of the women wear sarees ….we are dont wear lot of lehenga …. and we have beautiful collections of handloom pure zari sarees which are passed on as heirloom just like jewellery …so yeah we are big on sarees …

    • I agree – and the skirt-dupatta thing is there in lehengas, and mekhla-chador – so saying this is infantalizing is just silly

  2. The color combination of Aditi’s outfit is a classic! Having said that “LangaVoni/PavadaVoni is meant for teens and early 20s young women! She is above that age bracket and is trying too hard! A kanchipuram saree would have been better, classy and age appropriate!
