Doing Desi

Adah was spotted out and about doing desi in a yellow cotton anarkali first and then in a pink kurta pants. The suits were pretty. As for the masks, more so the print on them, no comments.

  1. Was she dressed for Halloween? Or did she change after halloween and forgot to change the masks. This is totally weird.

Both suits are simple and nice. I like the pink a tad more.

  2. Both suits are beautiful and I like her styling although the bag with the yellow suit is discordant. Her costume masks singlehandedly pull both looks down. I don’t get why anyone would ever wear these with ethnic wear. Had she worn these with casual dresses or some quirky ensemble I’d still be open to them but ethnic wear needs to be treated with the same respect as western formal wear.

    • Ethnic wear is just that – ethnic wear. It can be daily wear, casual, funky, office appropriate or wedding appropriate. It is not automatically equivalent to western formal. Though now living in the US, it does feel like that since I only wear it for festivals or other special occasions.

  3. Masks aren’t fashion accessories so don’t need to be stylish or fall into any category or be commented on. I’m glad she’s being responsible and wearing one.

  4. I’d wear a mask like that to amuse myself. I also know that my wearing such masks would attract a lot of criticism from well-dressed neo aunties (and uncles).

  5. While the masks are fairly ugly, I really think that’s her way of keeping it light and silly in these awful times. Again, yes it brings down the aesthetic of the outfit, but then these masks are doing that in general anyway!

  6. Her clothes and masks are disjointed, like wearing a nice suit with a funky pair of shoes or purse. They just don’t go together. But all in all, she is wearing a mask. THAT is way more important.
