In Raw Mango

It was quite a pink night on Wednesday at Cannes. We had two gown looks and the screening of Youth and we also two sari looks, but this was at the screening of ‘Shan He Gu Ren’.

In her Raw Mango sari with the updo and bindi, Vishakha looked beautiful. As for the other pink sighting, the less said the better. See inside why.

Kannada actor Chandini Sasha also wore pink but between the sari and the badly worn maang tikka, there wasn’t really much to like here.

  1. Both look lovely. Chandani could have avoided the jeweled Maang tikka. There is nothing wrong in attempting a retro look or fabric. It is appreciated and can break the monotony of loud, nouvelle styles.

  2. Vishaka looks radiant and the beautiful. While her saree is nice, it looks heavily wrinkled. Even the folds are visible on the top. Wish she had ironed/steamed it better. I can’t imagine she had to do much between leaving the hotel and arriving at the venue for the screening that would result in the saree being wrinkled so much.

  3. Don’t know who Vishakha is but she looks beautiful here. The sari and earrings are gorgeous and she has a killer smile!

  4. The Raw Mango saree is a winner! Vishakha wears it with such ease and grace. Gorgeous lady with a fantastic smile. Love her earrings too.

  5. I’d like to disagree with the prevailing opinion here. Ethnic clothes (no matter how beautiful as in Vishaka’s case) are not appropriate for an international red carpet. And definitely not in France, the last bastion of chic. Maybe for a less high-profile event but in this case, these women just look like exotic tropical birds.

    • Before anyone jumps down my throat, let me remind you all that Cannes is the place where they considered banning women who aren’t in high heels. French arrogance is alive and well, it is better to just get on board with it. Like they say, when in Rome…
