In Manish Malhotra

While promoting her movie not too long ago, Vidya was photographed in a butterfly print Manish Malhotra sari. Wavy hair and a big-dialed wrist watch finished out her look. You like?

  1. I think no one in the entire history of Bollywood might have worn a Manish Malhotra sari with that sleeve length blouse. 😀 So we can give that title for her. Among all others, her tailor has a relaxed job, same measurements for every blouse. No need to think about ideas.

  2. Does she walk around in the house and sleep too with that arm crook? LOL. The yucky hair color and that dinchak sari, one word – TACKY. Glad that those tacky wedges are not visible. 😛

    • Hi Avani
I have been noticing your comments on every single Vidya Balan post. Clearly you aren’t a big fan of her fashion sensibilities (infact I dont think anyone is) but I wonder why the need to be so vile and loathsome every single time. Worse, you sound condescending. I’m sure there is a better way to criticize someone who btw doesnt care about fashion at all (so not why she keeps getting featured on the blog) without attacking them. And if Vidya Balan does bother you so much, maybe you shouldn’t click on the post at all?

      • Good Point Shruti!! Completely agree. Vidya’s and even Aishwarya’s posts attract some same chronic mean comments where the tone is overwhelmingly “Who gives a damn about these ladies! Who even cares about their horrific fashion sense!” and yet the very same users take time to comment exact same mean comments on every single post.

      • Shruti, I am just giving my opinion. Pray tell me where are you ladies when the same things are said about many other celebrities are being called trashy. Why is that only Vidhya Balan gets a free pass and so much personal attacks on the commentator using anon names? The double standards are pretty high in here and anyway that is none of my concern. I don’t think you are one among them. But I definitely don’t go around contesting or defending any celebrity even if it’s my favorite just because some other commentator does not like the choice, well she or he has her opinion. Everyone has their own preference. Same applicability, if my comments bother you so much, you probably should ignore or scroll down over my comments, yeah? I will try to keep my vile in limits. 😉

        • Avani: you are entitled to your opinion, like anyone else is, and it is the diversity of takes after all, that makes the forum interesting. and i definitely do not mean to pick on you, since others do this as well; but it would be nicer all around, if we can keep the discussion to the clothes and styling. too often it veers off into fat-shaming or complexion-shaming or class-shaming etc. it is sad. everyone else is already out to tell us what we should look like. why should we do it to ourselves?

      • Agree with you wholeheartedly, Shruti and Aman. It’s better not to comment on posts that concern people who clearly don’t care for fashion, like Vidya. PnP, why feature her at all? She is beautiful and talented, but her clothes are not interesting. 🙂

Avani, Sapphire etc., you often pick on Vidya, Madhuri, and Huma and your criticism is tangential to fashion.

        • Like thousands of women in India who only wear saris, Vidya too heavily favors them. And while the length of her blouse-sleeve might stay the same, Ms. Balan wears a whole range of different saris. To us, that’s interesting. Definitely interesting enough to be on this blog.

        • Oh no, don’t include Madhuri Dixit in that list. She is very decently dressed to be added in the list of desperately trying hard to be fashionistas of current lot. She may not be my favourite actress, but I don’t like her name dragging into this.

          • I was only saying that Ms Dixit gets crucified on this blog, along with the other two lovely ladies I mentioned.

Personally I’m a fan of both Vidya and Madhuri, except for their style. 🙂 I try to be constructive in my criticism, none of us are perfect!

          • Madhuri never tried to impress P&P or a section of visitors here who expect the same output from everyone. Which itself shows that she has a style of her own instead of copying others. I think she doesn’t even have an idea that this blog exists.

    • That arm posture is beginning to give me a nails on chalk board headache now. Which is a pity since she is such a beauty who has refused to confirm to the one size fits all interpretation of fashion and beauty.

  3. i like the colour and the soft make-up. do not like the saree, though. the butterfly pattern looks like silver foil. but then, i do not really like manish malhotra clothes in general too.

  4. She’s such a beautiful lady but I just wish she would change things a bit.. the saree, the hair, the pose seems so dated. While I agree, this is her signature look, I would love to see her do a different look once in a way.

  5. The color suits her. The silver border brings down the look!
I really wish she would try different blouses. Just a shorter arm length to start with ; )
Then may be do the pleats once in a while!
I know, I know! not going to happen!

  6. I think, it must be really tough for a celebrity to ‘divulge’ from what they themselves defined and declared as their style.
Even if, later they want to break free from their own definitions and want to grab a chic-sleek western dress and look fab like most ladies want.
They might get bored but they have locked themselves in a situation where if they change much, they will be bothered much by the media.

Everyone loves change (atleast in the clothes department) and all gals wanna try everything once 🙂

  7. I think she looks lovely. Glad she’s wearing a saree material that drapes well, as opposed to the silk ones which add bulk. Love the soft color as well.
