Red Hot? Or Not.

Before wearing the white sari for the premiere, Vidya attended a press meet earlier in the day in a red Sabyasachi. Yes, the sari was much like the green one that we saw on her a few days earlier, but I still love it. So. Badly. Want.

  2. Beautiful ! I love that with Sabya’s influence, people at least have the option of not wearing the ubiquitous (and loathsome to me atleast ) culture of sequin laden sarees that Manish and others popularized. I hope these traditional looking sarees percolate into the common market too.

    • My feelings exactly! What a beautiful change from those chamak – challo sarees. I wish she had draped it a little better , it looks kinda heavy around the waist….

Gosh! I am turning into my own mother inlaw …. Can’t appreciate any thing without pointing out at least one little fault !!!

  3. this is so much more a festive look than the white saree she wore at the premiere… wish she’d switched looks! she looks GORGEOUS here — love the way she carries the saree, like she’s born to it.

  4. iam huge fan of ‘gamti’ kind blouses, my mom used to have so many of them over her cotton sarees. she would hardly make blouses out of the blouse pieces she would pick up the gamti cloth and get them stiched.

  5. Beautiful! Shez glowing! Shez lost some weight & looks perfect now. I hope she doesn’t get into the crazy weight-loss bandwagon & start losing more weight & become scrawny & hollow looking.

    • I saw the more ‘simple’ range of Sabyasachi sarees last time I was in Hyderabad, India, you get them from the more high end boutiques over there. However even the most basic cotton ones a bit like Vidyas start from about 22,000RS. So, not cheap.

  7. P&P- if you really want this saree, you can go to any cottage emporium store in Mumbai and get similar sarees.. you don’t have to spend big bucks on Sabya..
(this from someone who loves sabya).

Love the look. I just hope she doesn’t overboard on this same look like she did with the anarkalis. Switch it up, girlfriend.

  12. Love Sabya sarees with Gamti blouses color coordinated oddly. Takes the saree to the next level. And Vidya is a master of this genre. Hate to see her in anything western.. just doesnt suit her body type.

  13. Maybe it’s just me but I’m starting to find Sabya rather boring. He has a few fixed patterns and prints that he keeps repeating. Sure the clothes look nice, but he’s becoming the next Manish Malhotra minus the bling; in terms of finding one thing that works and then churning out thousands of minor variations on that one thing.

And his latest fixation with 3/4th sleeved (sari) blouses do nothing for the wearer except make her look matronly. Sorry, I just don’t get the Sabya fascination.

    • its not him who keeps repeating … its the celebs.
its obvious vidya bought like a dozen or so of these sarees and the blouses… and is wearing them 1 after the other …

there’s plenty from sabya … but not a lot of people wear his entire range…

  14. They’re different blouses guys- there’s one with big bright yellow/mustard polka dots, one with big gray polka dots and this one, with a small print- which is more flattering on her.

  15. it looks like ordinary saree with designer name attached to it. I would rather spend 22K on something else. Also, she does need to learn to wear it properly. Besides the celebs, most young women in India don’t wear a saree any more, except on special occasions.
