Red Hot? Or Not.

December 4th, 2009 at 10:39 am . by Payal

Before wearing the white sari for the premiere, Vidya attended a press meet earlier in the day in a red Sabyasachi. Yes, the sari was much like the green one that we saw on her a few days earlier, but I still love it. So. Badly. Want.

  2. beans says:

not a shade of red that i like but love the entire look… and my! what a beautiful girl – you rarely see her with truckloads of makeup on and she still manages to look so fresh….

  3. ash says:

so lucky wearing all those Sabyasachis – even though its so simple theres some thing so special about his clothes. She looks gorgeous.

  4. zini says:

Beautiful ! I love that with Sabya’s influence, people at least have the option of not wearing the ubiquitous (and loathsome to me atleast ) culture of sequin laden sarees that Manish and others popularized. I hope these traditional looking sarees percolate into the common market too.

    • koel says:

My feelings exactly! What a beautiful change from those chamak – challo sarees. I wish she had draped it a little better , it looks kinda heavy around the waist….

Gosh! I am turning into my own mother inlaw …. Can’t appreciate any thing without pointing out at least one little fault !!!

  5. dn says:

She looks so beautiful. She does look the best in this style.

  6. Flower Power says:

this is so much more a festive look than the white saree she wore at the premiere… wish she’d switched looks! she looks GORGEOUS here — love the way she carries the saree, like she’s born to it.

  7. Rock~n~Rose says:

God… somebody teach this woman how to tie / pleat a sari properly..

  8. lurverlurver says:

absolutely elegant and beautiful..i can’t get over her superb makeup in this…

  9. Stuti says:

Argh. This just isn’t fair. She gets to wear all the beautiful sarees!

  10. Rekha says:

    She looks divine.

  11. KS says:

iam huge fan of ‘gamti’ kind blouses, my mom used to have so many of them over her cotton sarees. she would hardly make blouses out of the blouse pieces she would pick up the gamti cloth and get them stiched.

  12. SxD says:

Beautiful! Shez glowing! Shez lost some weight & looks perfect now. I hope she doesn’t get into the crazy weight-loss bandwagon & start losing more weight & become scrawny & hollow looking.

  13. vidya says:

Very Beautiful ! She is such a pretty women and I badly want that saree.

  14. quirky says:

ohh i love the red, love the saree and am loving vidya for the way she is pulling it off…beautiful, graceful

where to get the saree and how much can it cost P & P? [shd be too costly for a student like me :( ]

    • ash says:

I saw the more ‘simple’ range of Sabyasachi sarees last time I was in Hyderabad, India, you get them from the more high end boutiques over there. However even the most basic cotton ones a bit like Vidyas start from about 22,000RS. So, not cheap.

  15. grozny says:

LOVE this! This is totally her look. She should definitely stick to this kind of style.

  16. kaya says:

She wears it very well. Kudos.

  17. chickenlittle says:

she looks gorgeous in indian wear. guess some ppl just cant carry off western wear.

  18. PJ says:

P&P- if you really want this saree, you can go to any cottage emporium store in Mumbai and get similar sarees.. you don’t have to spend big bucks on Sabya..
(this from someone who loves sabya).

  19. S says:

Love it. btw did vidya’s tailor misplace her other blouse orders?

  20. Swapna says:

    memerizing !!!
I love that red ….drool worthy!

  21. Anu says:

So does that mean 3/4 long sleeves are back??

  22. Megha says:

    omg she looks so beatiful
    what a gorgeous face

  23. MojitoLover says:

Lovely! Me likey the whole look!
(But there’s that darned blouse again!)

  24. BARFI says:

    BEAUTIFULL……………I want that saree

  25. s says:

The saree drape is soo unflattering and awful.Looks ike a uge rolling bowl.A pretty ball at that

  26. Saya says:

Sari is hot. But she makes it so meh. Wish i can see this lovely sari on someone else say like Ash. I should just be happyl, least, she’s not disgracing Sabya anymore. :D

  27. pdaervo says:

AHHHHH WANT WANT WANT! I love these earthy traditonal sarees as much as I hate at the blingy/shiny things all of my Indian friends wear to parties

  28. Tongue in Chic says:

    GORG!

Love the look. I just hope she doesn’t overboard on this same look like she did with the anarkalis. Switch it up, girlfriend.

  29. Ami says:

Does she look DIVINE or what!. Loving the earthiness. But I fell she could glam up the same sabya sarees on occasion.

  30. javajive says:

love it!!! love it!! simple ,elegant with nary a bikini blouse in sight just as the saree should be worn

  31. monika says:

Whatmaterial are these saress? Is it Khaadi?

  32. edd.. says:

slowly people will realize that india is not only about blingy stuff.this time she got full points which doesnt mean that she has to repeat it again and again..

  33. sania chaudhri says:

pdaervo,Im with you,I cant stand alhis is sooo refreshing!l the ott bling and the short tight and cheap material dresses!

  34. Megz says:

Love Sabya sarees with Gamti blouses color coordinated oddly. Takes the saree to the next level. And Vidya is a master of this genre. Hate to see her in anything western.. just doesnt suit her body type.

  35. Prem Rogue says:

Maybe it’s just me but I’m starting to find Sabya rather boring. He has a few fixed patterns and prints that he keeps repeating. Sure the clothes look nice, but he’s becoming the next Manish Malhotra minus the bling; in terms of finding one thing that works and then churning out thousands of minor variations on that one thing.

And his latest fixation with 3/4th sleeved (sari) blouses do nothing for the wearer except make her look matronly. Sorry, I just don’t get the Sabya fascination.

    • SK says:

its not him who keeps repeating … its the celebs.
its obvious vidya bought like a dozen or so of these sarees and the blouses… and is wearing them 1 after the other …

there’s plenty from sabya … but not a lot of people wear his entire range…

  36. mouni says:

Can anybody please tell me where can I get Sabyasachis Sarees..

  37. SK says:

ITS THE SAME BLOUSE – 3RF TIME!!!
wat vidya – u run outts money to buy a decent blouse with every saree…

  38. SK says:

    oops… 3rd time.
my eyes popped out… hence, the typo

  39. jujunye says:

i like her classic look .. but omg.. i don’t think she has any other blouse !!! :P

  40. Divya Ramanan says:

She’s worn the sari so badly!!!

  41. Shyba says:

    Sabya the Gr8….

She looks classic…..i really want to buy atleast one Sabya creation…

  42. pdaervo says:

They’re different blouses guys- there’s one with big bright yellow/mustard polka dots, one with big gray polka dots and this one, with a small print- which is more flattering on her.

  43. jenn says:

it looks like ordinary saree with designer name attached to it. I would rather spend 22K on something else. Also, she does need to learn to wear it properly. Besides the celebs, most young women in India don’t wear a saree any more, except on special occasions.

  44. tiana says:

at least she doesn’t wear her saree with one breast hanging out. unlike your typical bollywood actress.

  45. npm says:

classic and beautiful…now someone needs to teach her how to drape a sari properly…

  46. zina says:

Very earthy and simple. Has an old world charm surrounding it.
