Screening Style

Wearing a black suit with an orange-toned dupatta, Vidya took in a movie in recently. Pair of silver jhumkis and kolhapuri wedges rounded out the look. The easy, off-duty look worked!

    • Ok, I give her this look, its a moves, that kurta seems interesting. But I really wish she would listen to us wailing away at her and up her sartorial game just once.

      • The funny thing is this is all done with the help of a stylist. Forget about dressing like a Star or the need to make a statement, not everyone is made for that sh*t and that is okay. But even with a stylist (and hopefully a mirror in the house)to put together a simple salwar look is so difficult? Shades, like really? Or even if it is a Sari (growing up in Chennai, I have seen Maamis looking amazing in wearing their non designer, no stylist saris every day with impeccable taste) that floats her boat so be it, but she makes it looks so unkempt -shabby with the drape, those ridiculous 3/4th blouses, unkempt hair, cheap accessories(even though it is “designer”) and the lac of poise. She is like a poster child for how not wear a Sari or multiple ways to ruin a Sari. LOL

        • I think it’s a bit too harsh to say she looks unkempt. How is her hair unkempt? It’s healthy , out of her face and not crowding the neckline. Just because it hasn’t been coiffed to perfection, doesn’t mean it’s unkempt. She might not be the most fashionable but she is not shabby!

        • Avani’s bitterness has no bounds when it’s Vidya that’s featured. Calm down, woman. Maybe she wore shades because it was hot outside. When you say “shabby hair” you mean untreated. I am tired of poker straight hair and careful blow dries just for a movie outing. This is how my hair looks on most days so I think it’s fine.

  1. Good to see Vidya in something other than a Saree.
Those raybans don’t belong with the outfit though. Save them for a more sporty outfit.

  2. Dear Ms. Balan,
Kindly throw all your Kolhapuri wedges, beaded bracelets and long-sleeved blouses into a pyre. Dance around it and let go of bad fashion choices. Good luck!

  3. How nice of you up moderate my reply to Avani which was perfectly civil but continue to publish venomous comments. In all for free speech but this is unfair selective moderating. Would like to know what rules I broke.

      • If you think things get escalated, why do you post acerbic comments? They definitely get trolled because they are coming from a troll. I think you can identify that it is a spiteful comment like the rest of us.

      • Thanks, Priyanka. I know it’s a fine line to dodge and appreciate your explanation: not that you owe one to anyone. May be you could enforce this sort of restriction right when the venom starts spilling in the first place?

        • +1 .. It’s very easy to differentiate between comments on fashion and otherwise…
There’s no limit to how personal the comments have gone over here at times – on the celebrity, their abilities, bodies, psychology and beyond 😛
Such comments are easily ignored on other pages.
But (fortunately) on your site there’s a majority of civil, sensible people and we try to keep it that way! 🙂
