In Sabyasachi And Feeling Patriotic

27

When we say keep it minimal to let the outfit do the talking, we don’t quite mean not to wear any jewellery at all. Case in point, Vidya who wore a nice sari but still comes off looking unfinished because of zero-jewellery.

On an aside, even though Republic Day is more than a month away, Ms. Balan has been feeling quite patriotic of late. Don’t believe us? Well, have a looksee inside! :P

  1. Thats such a beautiful saree but Vidyas looking messy in it. Shes such a naturally pretty girl but very unpolished when it comes to her personal style – case in point, the three kurta/jeans combos below. Unlike some people I like her saree choices, being Sabyasachis muse doesn’t hurt either! But she should pay attention to the details.

  2. Ha ha ha.. I was wondering what you meant by patriotic. The wheel is missing though!! Why is she wearing the same type of kurta, and it might look nice with chruidars rather than denim.

The saree is typical Sabya, nice but predictable. She needs better blouses.

  5. I love that Vidya embraces more traditional sarees, but I think shorter sleeves may be more flattering to her. Most of her sarees are quite conservative, and when paired with long sleeved blouses, she often comes across as dressing too mature for her age.

I don’t really understand why she would pair such long tunics with light-wash denims – she may as well have paired them with churidaars, or at least black pants.

  6. I think she looks fine, real and down to earth and a happy, refreshing change from the plastic-y trying-too-hard specimens we often find on these pages. The saree has enough details to allow for lack of jewellery. Go Vidya!

  7. she is too insecure about her dressing. she has found a style and is sticking to it like a uniform…should geta stylist who is able to coax her to try some more designers , even if its only for sarees. I’m sure even sabyasachi is bored of her look now.

  8. Goodness…that patriotism joke is SOO lame ! Just because u r caught wearing a red kurthi one day and a white one does not mean, u r suddenly feeling indonesian, polish or singaporean (flags w red and white basically!). Lame lame lame…! Its 3 separate looks, not tricolours on one day.

But ya, she could have worn big jhumkas with the saree.

  9. Ho hum…am soooooooooooooo bored of these half n half Sabya saris. They all look the same and have been copied by every darzi worth his measuring tape for miles around. And quite frankly, the rip-offs don’t look all that different from the original!

Please Mr. Mukherjee…have you heard of a word called ‘innovation’?
