In Sabyasachi

Oh Vidya, Vidya, Vidya. The color is gorgeous on you but… The volume on this kurta has you looking overwhelmed. As is the dupatta. Not feeling it.

Who else would love to see Vidya wear a fitted (fitted, not tight) kurta and churidaar besides us?

  1. You know what this is not the best, but it is such a nice change from anything she has ever worn in the past! So she’s finally moving in the right direction. Hopefully she will continue to improve.

  2. Maye she’s in character and is trying to look 6 months pregnant? Doesn’t she play a pregnant woman in her next movie? How else can you explain the volume on that kurta? The color is gorgeous on her.

  3. Does her no justice. And no, you are not alone; I would love to see her in a kurta and churidaar. This dupatta would actually look good with that outfit, in an off-white shade perhaps.

  4. she is such a sloppy dresser….even if she just sticks to sarees and salwars why cant she just wear them elegantly ?? i personally think she ruins sabyasachi’s creations by dressing soooo sloppyyy ….whewwww…..such a beautiful woman …such a pity !!! sigh !!!

  5. I have this piece in the store, it’s the picture angle in the first two pics (taken from slightly below) moreover it is clearly loose for her as per the fit! But one can’t really do much with hired clothes that need to go back on the racks!

  6. Getting so tired of this Sabya look. What happened to his creativity? Tired of looking at the folks wearing the same old same old, sometimes manish malhotra can also surprise….imagine that!! this sabya look is like beating a dead horse. And that anarkali, please keep it for maternity only!!!

  7. I personally think that Vidya found Sabyasachi but not her personal style. There are so many other beautiful sarees and salwar suits out there, why does she always have to run for a Sabyasachi all the time even when the cut and volume do anything but justice to her figure?

  8. I would love to see Vidya in a shorter kameez. Voluminous anarkalis have a tendency to stumpify even the tallest and leanest of women, and as a petite person, I find them very unflattering.

I’m glad Vidya unabashedly embraces Indian wear, but I think she could pull off classic Western silhouettes very well. She has a great hourglass figure that would look amazing in a simple sheath dress.

  9. I understand why everyone feels that Sabyasachi is churning out the same tricks over and over, but for every Vidya there is a Sabina or Swati Shetty wearing interesting (if nothing else) variations and separates sticking to his handloom aesthetic. Vidya, Rani, Aishwarya like their Indian clothes traditional or blingy and there’s no changing that.

  10. I don’t mind the preference she has for Sabya, because she changes her hair…. For dirty picture, she wore her hair in boufonts and pony tails and straightened at awrd shows the hair is down to the side…..here, i like how she had the braid with tthe soft curls……
