Say It Isn’t So!

If it isn’t anarkalis, then it’s these strange dresses that do her no favors. The last time we spotted her in a similar dress, it was a Priyadarshini Rao one and it was an uncontested disaster. This time, it’s no different.

Considering Sabyasachi styled Vidya for this movie, we are so hoping this dress isn’t a Sabyasachi. That would just break our hearts! The mix of anarkali meets maxi meets patchwork is just so unflattering and unsightly. It’s a crying shame that a woman as beautiful as Ms. Balan just doesn’t get it right.

  1. no i don’ think it is that bad.. the dress actually makes her look much taller.. but the sleeves could have been better.. bi am fed up of that round deep necks though.. how many times has she repeated it???

  2. I know I am going to regret this thought but I almost wish she had worn one of her usual boring anarkali outfits instead because a few of those are actually not too bad. Sad considering Abhi looked awesome.

  3. It looks like Sabya to me
…and to be perfectly honest, I kind of like the dress- just not on Vidya
the print on the sleeves is very unflattering on her, but on someone thinner, I think it would have worked
I’ve been into the long sleeved dress thing as of recent, but I feel like it works better when in the form of a mini. It’s almost as if this was made to fit Vidya’s modesty issues.

  5. That is a Sabyasachi .. typical Sabya work!!!
And I believe this wasn’t a dress .. it was a (extra) long kurta meant to be worn with a churidaar .. but since it was much too long on vidya she went ahead and wore it as a dress!!!

Someone tell me if I an wrong!!

    • Lol ! I agree !
Or may be the bottom fringe is extra…..

I think she is a little heavy at the hip area so she tries to wear high waist clothes.

  6. I have to disagree, I quite like the dress. Would have really liked it if at the bottom it was just a different border instead of the big patch piece, but she does look very tall and slim!

    • finally someone who said she looked slim–i thought she did–seriously people NEED to get past ehr weight–especially in india–she is a waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better actress than deepika, sonam, katrina. so how about people appreciate that…
as for the dress–if its a sabyasachi i d be sooo disappointed, I do not like it at all

my sympathies are always with Vidhya. coz i have similar body structure, actually worse i have narrow shoulders, even worse ..not that pretty face. *But am doing fine!;) i seriously wish some one tells us what actually suits us kinds. kurtas are best bet for us though.
I follow your post on vidhya very curiously to figure out what should she wear. any suggestions? will seriously appreciate :).

    • I agree with KS …
Any suggestions from any body else about the style one should wear with that body type.

Also, I have a fat belly and the rest is very lean. Any suggestion for my kind of body? I know I know I am working on the belly but still I need look good till I reach there.

  8. I actually like the top portion of the dress ( it should have been a sleeveless though) and right where the print changed – probably just below the knees- it should have stopped..paired with nice peep toe shoes..and voila! I have to say this though..no matter what she wears – how terrible it might be…I’m still biased twds her coz she is just such a pretty lady!

  9. i actually don’t mind the dress- it would look pretty on a taller and slimmer woman- my only gripe is the clogs that are peeping out under the dress- why why why do people even wear clogs! ew

  10. ..humm.. you know what.. i kinda sorta do like it!! she looks very pretty, methinks!!

i like the top half of the dress better, and maybe if the colors/patterns on the bottom half was different, maybe it’d have look much better? can’t think up any alternative pattern suggestions at this moment though!

  11. That face, those collarbones . . . and then that outfit. Sigh. However, she manages to look lovely despite the terrible dress and the lank hair; she has such presence. I keep thinking of all the clothes that would fabulous on her, and wish her friends would stage an intervention.

  12. I’m almost certain it’s Sabyasachi. The sleeves remind me of SO MANY Sabya outfits (slawar kameezes + saree blouses) we’ve seen, and the smaller black-and-white print is very similar to one of the sarees Rani wore for Pujo (that quite a few people thought was a Sabya too). Add to that the gold border on the hem.
Sheesh, I’m so disappointed. Then again, he might have designed it keeping someone else in mind, and it might look better on those people, whoever they are.

  13. I think this is a Sabya creation. I think I spotted a similar one in the film PAA’s trailor.
The cut is not flattering on Vidya. Might have looked better on someone much taller.
