In Kanelle

Wearing a cotton Kanelle sari with a pink blouse, Vidya attended promotions for Begum Jaan in Mumbai today. Jewellery from Inaayat and an Aadya nosepin finished out her look.

Loved the sari and sure, Ms. Balan looked cute but I really wish she would take a risk and try a different blouse style.

Vidya’s dress sense might not satiate full-blown fashionistas out there but all of her looks have a rustic charm; a smart “Indian-ness” (partly because of her face as well) that always wins me over!
Here in this look, she is definitely wearing a “summer-saree-look” well. She looks radiant!

This is her aesthetic. She dresses for her body. The comfort level is totally apparent in the photos. I’d rather see her in long- sleeve blouses and sarees and statement jewellery than become a clone of the common Bollywood type.

  1. She looks stuffed n shabby! Loose fitted straight kurta with culottes, indigo tie n dye maxi with not much ‘ghera’ or a crip chikan kurta with ‘lehariya’ dupatta would make her look clean, crip n smart!

    • Agreed -“stuffed and shabby”. There is this innate shabbiness/unkemptness to all her looks and its been going on for many years now. Wearing only “Saris” and adding a statement necklace to anything, doesnt make any look automatically work. Lol.

  2. She has such a beautiful face…n smile to die for …n she looks the best in Indian wear…but its beyond my understanding that how her stylist doesn’t cash on that..there is so much she can do…my grudge is with her stylist…
P.S. – that’s just a simple cotton sari which we get anywhere..what’s designer about it?

  3. This looks so much like my mom n granny’s daily use gharmein phahnewali saree. They can’t even go out of the house wearing such saree

  4. Girl your gorgeous but why this uninteresting sari that doesn’t do much for you? I love her in her blacks and golds. And her sabya looks were so on point. Accentuating her beauty in every way.

  5. The light summery feel of the saree is ruined by that long sleeved blouse. Also, the stiff posing isn’t helping. This type of saree needs an easy-breezy insouciance.

  6. I think Vidya is a fine actor but she certainly does not care about fitness . I really think she needs to do something about being fit she seems to be ageing with all that flab on. As for the Saree I really like it . It may be same ole but even she cannot make the bad loose draping work.
Please Vidya get some fitness mojo back…

  7. Vidya never seems confident of her clothes and it reflects in her awkward under confident poses. Such a shame- she needs to take pointers from Tisca chopras Indian style. Something on those lines would be perfect for her.

  8. Such a lovely saree and such a wrong colour for the blouse. Going for Prussian blue or even a parrot green would have made this look a little more cheery.

  9. The thing is, this is not fashion. This is lazy, sloppy, shabby, clueless dressing from someone who simply doesn’t care. She has no place on a fashion website or magazine. Stop featuring her!
