In Sabyasachi
At the Indian Film Festival-Bollywood and Beyond in Australia, for her various appearances Vidya was spotted in Sabyasachi saris. But of course. Of the three very different saris, which was your favorite? Have a favorite stand-out look?
We loved all three saris but as far as a look goes, we’d have to pick her appearance in the yellow-mustard silk on far left.

ya the mustard sare is beautiful..but i prefer her much in d mid pic..side swept hair..she looks beautiful wid dat hair style
I like the floral, white and yellow, in that order. The floral one is simply lovely.
ditto….how beautiful is she… so glad thr is someone like her in the industry ! Missed her in her sarees in this blog for some days now !!
yes, she is beautiful in the print saree followed by yellow one!
None!! She is becoming just as much a fashion victim with these saris as she was with her western outfits. She has prematurely aged herself into a 60 year old woman. I can’t even imagine my mother wanting to dress like this.
I am bored with her posts. So she wears Sabya saris, all looking similar to something she has worn before and similar styling. I am glad she is graceful, but fashion wise I am bored. Sabya, please design new types of sarees for her.
All three looks are decent. My favt is the white and red sari though. I am such a sucker for that color combination. The mustard look has been seen so many times already. The middle look is different and cute too.
You mean on far left?
Yep. Corrected.
She looks beautiful and the sarees are to die for. Having said that, I wish she experiments at least a teeny bit. Maybe try a different blouse, say a sleeveless or a half sleeved. Or may be, just may be, try a saree by a different designer.
Ok.. I’m a little irked by some of the comments on how “old fashioned” the saris are. I’m in my 20’s (ok late 20’s) and wear my mother’s (in her 60’s) saris which look very much like Vidya’s and I look good. I stand out from the glitterazzi. These saris will never be out of fashion, it’s the the essential indian classic sari. And, they cost a pretty penny nowadays. What bothers me most, Vidya is not wearing bangles. Like…she changed her hairstyles with each of the saris. Back to my fav…the mustard with hair tied up.
Same here ! Totally hating the posts which say she looks older or she is wearing sarees too often or inappropriately for the occasions.
In most parts of India (ofcourse sadly not the in the cities) Sarees are worn everyday. They are worn when shopping, in the kitchen, when sleeping, for weddings, for taking the kids to the school and what not…!
So ppl should stop forcing this western approach of dressing and expecting pajamas in the night, black suits for work, dresses with heels for dates, jeans for shopping with the gals, and evening gowns for oscars or when the queen is visiting to you !
ha ha! well said kasthuri and SLC!
Totally agree with SLC & Kasthuri…..could nt express the same thoughts better!!
Yes but they hardly wear the same kind of saris each and every day
Actually many do. Depends on the season.
Anyways, the sarees Vidya is wearing above are from the same designer. And if you did not know who this designer was, looking at the 3 sarees themeselves, they are very very different. Classic border vs floral print… I dont see a similarity.
I don’t mean to be rude but I think u are interpreting a criticism of her attire choices too literally and narrowly. We don’t hold our celebrities to the same standards as ourselves when it comes to “dress to impress”
Pls state your opinion but don’t disparage others’!
Also are those women u talk abt doing into photo ops?
No wonder we don’t see many other actresses in Sabya, Vidya seems to have taken all of his stuff.
she’s taking ALL the charm and novelty out of sabya’s saris by wearing them so much and inappropriately to the occasion… I never thought I’d get bored of seeing Sabya saris,
BORRRRRRRRRRRIiNG
Lovely……….
the mustard and gold sari is an almost ditto copy of the sabya i am wearing at my wedding. oh dear.
you have excellent taste then. congrats.
thank you 🙂 i wanted something traditional.
unfortunately i am having trouble draping it well as the sari is too “tall” for me. i will look at least 5 months pregnant with all that fabric tucked in. what a great look for a bride. NOT.
Matronly……
I love it when she put her hair on one side. We have seen her in many floral saris so I will go with the white.
As lovely as Vidya looks, why would anyone wear a saree to a cricket ground???
haha..that’s true and funny!!
As long as she’s not playing, does it matter?
beautiful sarees n vidya looking nice…
I appreciate her for keeping it traditional!! The white red combo looks great!! and someone from down south and as someone who has grown up around kancheevarams of different kind, sabya should stop killing the silk saree with heavy brocade thing.
my thoughts exactly. i wanted a traditional NON sabya kancheevaram, but couldnt find a nice red one in delhi, so had no choice but to go to sabya. i am planning on removing the heavy border after the wedding to tone it down a bit.
Gorgeous sarees, and I for one love that Vidya wears them so much. Whats wrong with wearing something you love? I don’t hear many people complaining about the same old herve leger dresses many of the society ladies insist on wearing all the time, Gauri Khan for one. The floral saree is really beautiful and a bit different from the usual Sabya. style – I’d take any of them!
agree with you on the legers, although gauri khan isnt a leger regular, that honour goes to queenie dhodi and ms godrej.
like the saris. dont’ like the way her left arm looks when holding the pallu..kindda stiff and not casual
All three sarees are gorgeous… the yellow for a dressed up traditional event, the white is a classic and floral a fun saree (like her hair). Sabya sarees are beautiful but he needs to find other actresses who can wear it as well as Vidya.
she needs to reinvent herself. she comes off as someone who has not figured out personal style. she wore sabya sarees, got compliments…bam…started wearing them to toilet too. OVERKILL.
dull, boring, PREDICTABLE!
I love vidya, its nice to see an actress in traditional dress rather then western wear. I would wear these saris they don’t look boring and ageing at all. Its so much better than wearing a bra as a blouse.
the yellow silk sari is great . the white one is sabyasachi’s signature style we have seen it so many times in so many distinctly different borders but it remains a favorite. but what i totally dislike is the floral print sari… it felt that Sabya was on his way to make a bed-sheet and suddenly transformed it into a sari…
Vidya looks gorgeous in all three sarees, especially the first and third one! she has good taste in traditional wear! xo
