Not Quite

Pairing a faux-wrap tunic with black tights was Vidya at a recent do. The red Ferragamo clutch was the only bit of color in the all black look. You like?

While we appreciate Ms. Balan breaking character, this appearance was a Not Quite for us.

I have to give her props for stepping out of hercomfort zone of sabya sarees into this dress…I think that the silhuette would be more flattering if the dress was a few inches longer and if she had opted for a pop of color (red?) on her lips..but its good to see her mixing it up a bit!

The dress is actually quite nice but I just cannot get over HER HAIR!!!! It’s so awful and it’s a shame because she has beautiful hair

printed tights, & different hairstyle (say side parting & straight hair) would have made a big difference.

A “Not Quite” ???? Its a WTTTHEY all the way…she should give up trying to match clothes for herself…a brilliant actress but really style is not one of her pluses…Vidya get a smart stylist..try pernia!! anyone but your own judgment!

In theory I can see why she might think that this works and God knows I’ve gone for something similar myself after throwing down half my closet in despair thinking nothing fits because of my… stomach or arms or whatever… but Vidya I’m SURE she CAN pull off western clothes. I don’t know why she dresses like this. Surely she can afford a stylist? A similar top with a slightly shorter hem and some dark rinse boot cut jeans would have done wonders.

This proves that dresses can be flattering on her lovely figure, even though this is not the right one. Not everybody needs to be a fashionista, and Vidya is amazing at her job, i.e., acting. Hence, I think she’d be served well by hiring a stylist who can take care of the clothes while she focuses on being the brilliant actor that she is. Come on, Vidya – you’re going to be taking every award home this year; you might as well look fantastic while doing it. :)

I wish I could ‘like’ this! Exactly how I feel. I don’t buy this ‘she can only wear saris’ business. Would love to see her pick up all her Filmfare awards in an amazing gown and surprise everyone.

wonder if she even saw her self in the mirror before stepping out – and no make up is a good thing for a night in – not a night out!!!

Darling vidya fails every time she tries to wear westerns……. She can try by changing her stylist….. She is such an awesome actress ,it wud be great if she even dressed well……. Bad choice of clothes n no make up look…. It’s a BIG whteyyy!!!!

Maybe..She should of worn deep purple sheer leggings with a pair of boots.
And used an anti-frizz serum before straightening her hair.
And a dab or two of blush would have done wonders.

Actually, she should have stuck to her ‘In character’ looks.

she shud stick to her saris & anarkalis

Vidya is oh so brave for not wearing make-up, and not taking time out for a better hairstyle, because she would have passed (barely) for looking okay. She is very pretty and a darned good actor!

P & P, if you were her stylists how would you dress Vidya Balan in non Indian outfits? What would suit her looks and body style? Thanks

I don’t understand Vidya. Is she trying too hard or is she not trying at all?? I am confused. If you don’t give an eff and don’t try at all, I understand, like Ekta Kapoor and her shoes.
But in case of Vidya, I am not sure.
Dear Vidya, you are a movie star, sure good hair and make up is not out of reach for you. If she just puts a bit of volumizing mousse and blow dries and then uses a hair iron, it would a substantial improvement over this limp hair. Thats what I do to take my lip flat hair to shiny and full. The whole process takes less than 15 minutes.

I don’t dislike the dress, but she could have skipped the tights, does not add anything to the look. a waistline too close to the boobs is not doing her any favor either. Its tricky for busty girls, I know from experience, you have to be careful of the silhouette or you end you looking fat or pregnant or both.

Not quite is not the way I would sum this look. I am leaning towards more of a hell no! This woman needs help. Advice to Vidya Balan: Get a stylist! Instead of just rigging it.
