In Sabyasachi

In a way, we should be glad that instead of giving us another ‘In Character’ look, Vidya went for a Sabyasachi. But, why does it feel like we’ve seen her wear this style in all major colors. Oh wait, that’s because we HAVE! 😉

  1. Even thogh shes worn it to death I still love that Sabyasachi saree, I do wish she’d mix it up a bit though. Does anyone know what material that saree is? It dosn’t look like pure silk, is it raw silk or that woollen pashmina type fabric? Anyway, the other two sarees are seriously gross though – talk about polyester madness!!

  2. she is looking good in red saree but no different..same old style, hair, face.
printed saris are ugly…but i know these are “character-based” too….

    • agree.
she does look nice, but badly needs a change.
even if she feels comfortable in sarees (which is acceptable) she can always try different ones. maybe a change in hair, makeup…anything.

  3. OMG i swear she is channeling rekha in the sabyasachi. the hair, the hair!
now she just needs bright red lipstick to complete the look.
(and btw, on an aside, rekha is the most overrated person ever.)

    • I agree I love a classic silk sari myself but this is getting ridiculously monotonous. I said the same the Maliaka, its not that I disapprove of her sense of style but she REALLY needs t change things up. The same thing aplies to Vidya.

At the end of the day seeing one woman in non-stop demure, traditional looks gets just as tiring as seeing the other in non-stop fierce, smoldering looks.

      • Oh, and pathetic draping, blah hair. I dont understand why people are going gaga over this, 80% of middle class women in India dress like (or better) than this for formal occasions. Overall : MEH!!

  4. i don’t mind the repeated styles of vidhya or priyanaka or any other actress, but it is just me! The saree is beautiful. The silk looks like bhagalpuri silk. Is it? I wish to see more sarees in the same.Kudos to sabya for keep re-innovating old crafts.

  5. What is with the lack of jewelery around the neck? And yes, I am bored too with this look… In character outfits are horrendous! They look the cheap polyester saris one gets for 200Rs. or less. The in character look could be designed to be much better. C’mon stylists…

  6. Sorry but i feel this is a blind appreciation. Why is this “Sabyasachi” style. I see similar sarees in silk stores, what is so designer about it?

  7. That it……. she will officially drive me crazy. i am not indian and i loveeeeeeeeee saris. but plz someone tells her to turn the page and hire a stylist. she looks like a boring and washed out version of rekha . but of course without the tricky shiny lipstick and a 2220 kg of gold

  9. She wears the sari like its a gunny bag!!! Its time she gave us a different style of saris. Ash wears a lot of Sabya too but it doesnt look as repetitive as Vidya’s outfits. As she says in her interviews she just doesnt care about clothes …. and she proves it every time!

  10. So darn bored with her repetitive “in-character” sarees along with her favorite blouse :p
….if I ever get to see her in a trendy dress on this blog I’ll faint for sure!!

  11. The sari looks lovely, but it’s really hard to appreciate it on her. I wish she’d mix it up a bit more–the repetition makes everything she wears just fall FLAT just because of how many times we’ve seen it before. She has such a pretty face and a gorgeous smile–wish she’d do herself justice.

Also, do NOT like the hair. It just looks messy and weighs down her face. Or maybe, as Kish said up there, it’s the Rekha vibe she’s giving that’s turning me off completely.

  12. Wow….she can go from maid to maiden chic in ONE saree. 🙂
I mean she has the exact same hair & makeup in all three avatars, but clearly the effect of the silk saree speaks for itself.

So safe to say Sabya (or rather, the right kind of outfit) can make even a maid look like an A grade actress then? 😉
LOL, okay getting out-of-hand now…but my point here is that fashion is such a powerful too!! Example to note!

    • hahah/..maid to maiden..tats true..the other 2 saris are horrendous!…if she’s gonna stick with the same look then at least polish it up..the hair is just disastrous..the styling of the sari is completely off..a little bling would be good..tsk tsk tsk..

  13. Does it frustrate anyone that this beautiful woman just does not get it?

The first sari is gorgeous, but her styling is completely off. Why would you obscure most of your outfit with, frankly, unkempt and uncombed hair? Pulled-back hair, more sophisticated jewelry, and perhaps shorter sleeves, and Vidya would have had a perfect outfit.

The other two saris are hideous, and definitely not worth commenting about.

  14. the ‘in character sarees are very strangely draped.

Noone wears a sari with the seedha pallu so long – right down to her feet.

Is she wants authentic then she should have draped it like how women in real lives drape it.

    • Word. I never understand “oh she doesn’t care about clothes, designer stuff..blah blah from peeps. So Sabya saris are not designer wear?Maybe she gets them for free.=P

  15. OMFG…the butterfly saree (in character or not) is atrocious and even my dead grandma (and she was a conservative lady…loved her lots) would drape more fashionably- if she ever agreed to wear it. She even manages to make the Sabya saree look average. Vidya needs a stylist pronto…even her neighborhood darzee can give her some good fashion advise!

  16. is she losing it? i mean, those two bead bracelets, with a 3/4 sleeve blackblouse ALL the timE?? I mean seriously!!! Girl, signature style this ain’t..

  17. Vidya might just manage to singlehandedly bring down Sabya sales this year!!! Sabya would do himself a favour by not lending his numbers to someone as boring and unimaginative as her and in the process making us bored and desensitized to the beauty of his work.

  18. Its monotonous but she’s looking lovely. I am fine with a ‘look’ as long as she ooks good… the other 2 ‘in character’ sarees were awwwwwwful

  19. i think this a let down for the designer… no comments on the yellow and butterfly effect sari. The 1st one could have been better if she acctually wore it well with better hair.
