Couple Talk

The first pictures of the soon-to-wed couple are out! Even as we gear up for multiple Sabya spottings, love that it was a more traditional pattu sari that we spotted her in first.

  1. Hate to say -ve things about a bride or bride to be but that beautiful saree is eating her alive, and her hair, can’t she run a comb through it or tie it for once..she manges to look overwhelmed nd unkempt.. She’s not that old either but she manages to make herself look 10 yrs older.. I really hope she fares better during the wedding etc…

  2. Ooh – love! Totally reminds me of my mother’s pattu saris from the 60s and 70s when these checked and no-border designs were huge. There’s something so mod/modern about them while also being timeless.

Also agree re going the non-designer route. Hopefully, Sabya will focus more on the design weave than on the embellishments to get her sarees just right.

  3. Well sari is nice but the way she has draped it, is not. Just makes her look bigger.Neck up she looks beautiful. Who ever is invited to the wedding can gift her a full length mirror as she definitely needs one to get her saree right.

  4. Wow!!! these pattu saris are too heavy and do not fall well. The trick is in draping them well. She sadly looks like a silk bag. 🙁 … Loved the sari otherwise. Cant stand that big open hair.My mother too has a similar silk saree in green and mamma drapes it better 🙂
Hate to say these things about a bride to be …
Wish the couple all the best!

  5. The sari and the way it is draped does not compliment her height and weight . But I just love her and think she looks ok, but why does Siddarth always wear kurtas with the sleeve extending to his fingers? Has he heard of alteration or folding the sleeves up. Must say he is rather charming and handsome.

  6. Love the saree. The colors, weave and fabric, oozing with tradition. Hope to see her in more heirloom pieces. I do wish she had tied her hair though….but this is just the beginning.

  7. Lovely saree….even though the draping could have been better.but i do wish she had picked something more wedding-y …..looks way too casual.it’s as if she’s attending someone else’s wedding …..
But i do love her and wish them the very best 🙂

  8. I don’t see vidya anywhere in that picture.. do you? ha. I wish just for once she would show her beautiful silhouette. She looks nothing like a bride to be. Lacking the bridal glow and that hair… omg that hair! Girl.. you can be traditional and still look good. Try it sometime. Sid looks good. Kudos to him for getting married for the 3rd time. He must truly believe in a happy ending. Pun intended. 🙂

  9. I really do want to know -What do we mean by a wedding-y saree? Those awful net sarees being liked by all and sundry? But she could have asked someone to help her with the saree.

  10. oh la la! Baby shower or bridal shower? I agree with comments above regarding brushing her hair and pleating the pallu but she looks beautiful and happy anyways. Sid is 3rd time lucky!

  11. I wish Sabya (or Kiran Kher for that matter) could give her a lesson or two in how to drape such saris. btw does anyone else see a resemblance between the groom and chef Sanjeev Kapoor?

  12. Just for once I thought she might get someone to help her with wearing her saree neatly, since bad draping has been a constant gripe at most of her appearances. The thick silk fabric of the sari is not helping her cause either. The jewelery set is gorgeous and its one of those rare times she is actually wearing a necklace. Hopefully we see a better, neater presentation at the wedding. Can Sabya can also lend her some ‘saree helpers’? 🙂

  13. All I want for Christmas is for Vidya to learn how to properly style a traditional saree. Beautiful woman, beautiful sarees, TERRIBLE way of carrying them. 🙁

  14. Sarees not bad but you would have thought she’d pull out all the stops for her own pre wedding do, this just looks like her usual sarees she wears to her award shows. The hair and drape are messy also – hope she fares better at her actual wedding.

  15. It looks like her left arm is fractured and she has a cast. The design and the fabric of the saree are not doing justice to her. Channelling her inner Rekha didn’t work this time. Sorry Vidya

  16. Dear Vidya, what do you have against running a comb through your lovely hair? Your hair tied up neatly, with gajras to complete the look would have suited you so well. Sigh! P:S: The saree sucks a little too.

  17. Vidya looks radiant ! however, for being a topnotch actress, she should get a stylist help her pick a better saree and wear it properly ( kanjeevarams are super glamourous !!!) Anyways, wishing the couple a lovely life together
