Vidya may just have found her color! In a red Sabyasachi sari, she attened the latest premiere at Cannes. The same pulled back hair, fresh, dewy make-up, jewelry by House of Surana and a Ferragamo bag completed her look.
Vidya cut quite the elegant picture on the red carpet, no denying that. But her throwback to the time of MGD, dare we say, ages her a tad. We aren’t ageists and if that’s her thing, so be it.
She looks gorgeous but truth be told, the novelty’s beginning to wear off and as much as we champion personal style, we can’t help but think her Cannes outing is now beginning to look gimmicky with just this one kind of look re-packaged and presented.
One could however argue, if she looks this good, then why reinvent the wheel?

Vidya was back on the red carpet at Cannes 2013 for the screening of Inside Llewyn Davis wearing another Sabyasachi sari with a potli and jewelry by Amrapali. The hair, instead of being a severe do, was a tad relaxed.

Also in attendance at a screening was jury member, Vidya Balan. She wore a Sabyasachi sari and jewelry by Pankaj Surana.
Love the pop of her sapphire beads against the sari. But pray tell us, why the same do again Vidya? Wish we saw something softer on her. As for the nose-ring, looks like the Bollyland ladies are on a mission while in Cannes to make the nath (traditional nose-ring) mainstream.

Vidya’s first appearance on the red carpet for the screening of The Great Gatsby saw her in another lehenga. While she looked regal, we couldn’t help but have a sense of déjà vu about the look.

You may all know that Vidya is part of the Cannes jury this year which means we will have sighting of her on the red carpet every day. Yippie!
Considering she will be wearing Sabyasachi throughout, there might be some apprehension that she may end up looking the same everyday but day one itself she proved us wrong.
For her arrival at the Hotel Martinez it was a red lehenga and just when I thought she looked great in it, she upped the ante in a simple white sari at the jury photocall a few hours later.
Will Vidya finally help erase the horrible memory of Aishwarya and her stint as a jury member circa 2003? It’s looking that way so far. :)
