Festive Spirit: Part Deux

Even though Ms. Sen wore the more traditional sari, Kajol made us so happy by wearing it the traditional Bengali way. We’re just so taken aback with the sari looks that she’s been giving us of late, we’re ready to forgive the minor issues. Them being that we didn’t like the sari itself or the matchey pink bangles.

  1. “Kajol made us so happy by wearing it the traditional Bengali way.”

um, no. that is not the ek pench er shari at all.

sushmita looks like a million buck to me in this photo. gorgeous gorgeous lady. no makeup, no posing, just a gorgeous indian lady.

  2. Sush – sans makeup is fine, but looks soo dull, a red bindi would have salvaged the look,. Kajol looks great, I love the matchy bangles too……..

  3. I did not find either look appealing. Sushmita (who has one of the most radiant faces in the industry) without makeup looks pretty bland here. The choice of saree and footwear do not do anything to compensate for the lack of makeup either. I am not big on makeup myself, but sometime just a little kohl and gloss can brighten a tired face immediately.

As for Kajol, I do not think she has draped her saree the traditional Bengali way. It may look like that because of the pallu, but it isn’t. The saree, in my humble opinion, is quite ordinary and nothing befitting wearing to a puja mandap.

As a Bengali, Durga pujo is very special to me and I always like to wear something special (read “new” and/or “nice”) to celebrate the occasion with my friends and family. Neither Sushmita nor Kajol seem dressed for the occasion.

  4. You have problem with only the saree & bangles? That too minor?
Why do i feel except her smile everything else is majorly wrong. That footwear, that long necklace. All that she is wearing is just not complimenting one another….

  5. Common now, all Indian women match their bangles/ jewellary with their traditional Sari/Churridar. Not to mention Kajol is looking great in all these looks

    Criticize much???

    • Lol ya.. ALL indian women match their bangles. And it looks lovely on them.
I think both ladies look good. Such would have looked awesome with a bindi. But she looks like herself even w/o make up and all. I like. Thank god for no boob shows !

  6. That sari colour is doing nothing for Sushmita, who is usually a glowing natural beauty. I am lovingggg Kajol these days, on the other hand, and think she is looking lovely. She may not be the woman who wears the most stylish shoes, or carry the most attractive handbag, but, to me, she radiates natural beauty and happiness, and most importantly, seems pretty comfortable simply being herself.

  7. Agree 100% with bongbabe, this is absolutely not the bongololona marka shari. Sorry P&P, not everything hurled over a shoulder qualifies as a bong thing!

  8. That’s not the traditional Bengali style. Unless you mean that many women bring the anchal up like that and tuck it under their right bra strap to keep it safe. That’s very traditional and seen all over the saree-wearing world, LOL.
