Sari Style

Sushmita attended Durga puja festivities wearing a white and red narayenpet weave sari with silver earrings and a pair of kangans. She looked gorgeous.

I also must add that I love that she did not choose to go offbeat with the draping and wore it the traditional way.

  1. Pochampalli ikkat sarees, Gadwal sarees, Narayanpet sarees and many more weaves are from my state. I can proudly say. She looks beautiful, lovely and elegant in that saree. Lovely saree. Absolutely love this look of hers. Wish she would dress like this more often.

    • Get ur weaves right girls. Else stick to the word “handloom”. This is a Kanchipuram. Not Narayanpeth. Pay attention to the borders and pallu. A crash course at Nallis should help! What a sorry state… We love rattling off international labels and can recognize them from a distance, but flunk bad in our traditional weave id. Won’t be surprised if my comment isn’t published.

    • This is not a kanchipuram saree lady.. This IS a narayanpet saree.. Narayanpet silks might resemble kanchivarams but the contrast border with the thin triangular checkered pattern is a traditional narayanpet design..

      • Contrast Saree with small triangular border: Narayan Peth Saree?!?! Then all the ikkats, pochampally, some tangaail and some kanchipurams get into this category!!
A narayanpeth will have zari borders only as 2-3 stripes in a buti-cross box design inside the contrasting border. The contrast color hogs most of the border 60-70% not the zari. ALWAYS!
The pallu will have either zari horizontal zari box stripes slightly thicker than the border.
Sushs pallu has all the paisley and zari work of classic kanchipurams! Just because it has some traits of a Naranperth it’s isn’t one.
Last put not the least check her blouse out: the border again has a le pakshi edge!
Dealing with textiles for 2 decades: eye rolling on the ignorance of a “little knowledge is a dangerous thing of some of the commenters Narayanpeth vouch!”
        Peace & Cheers!

  2. Love, love, love. She looks absolutely beautiful. Classic red and white silk, timeless. Fantastic jewelry. Of course the charm and confidence really blows me away. Hopefully Aishwarya Rai may see these pics and learn how gorgeous one can look wearing simple outfits.
