In Ferragamo

Wearing Ferragamo, Sonam attended an event held in Delhi recently. An interesting top knot, Acne aviators, Stuart Weitzman boots and Hermès Kelly finished out the actor’s look.

As is the case with most of her appearances, but perhaps especially so with this one, the opinions are bound to be polarized. Go ahead and call me biased but I unequivocally loved it. To me it is very reminiscent of Japanese designers in late Eighties and the whole look, top knot and al reminds me of the likes of say Yohji Yamamoto (designer) and Nick Knight (photographer) from that period. She owned it!

  1. Let’s face it, even when this woman wears jeans, she wants to look like she made an effort. (I know she is not wearing jeans here). Although so much effort on clothes may not be my own thing, but I wish we did not shame her for making that effort.

    Sonam, you look is fabulous.

  2. It’s pretty blah as it is. Looks like a weird woollen tunic + dupatta, only coz her legs are covered too. Swap the shoes for a pair of pumps and the whole thing could’ve looked much cooler.

  3. She is looking fabulous !!!! She is owning this look !!
I guess for Delhi weather this is quite appropriate !!
I have a wish though.. I want to see Sonam do a few in-character looks for this movie’s promotions.. A few fuss free, classic, desi/non-desi outfits that we can relate to..

    • The whole campaign was pretty much understated actually. P&P focused more on the highly fashionable looks they like but this was Sonam Kapoor at her least high fashion style maven in so many ways. I would suggest that you check it out. You would be really surprised. 🙂

  4. Wow! What an amazing outfit! It’s just so elegant, regal and classy! Sonam carries it so well. For a change it’s not forced. She’s truly owning this look.

  5. Even though I’m not a fan of her nor do I like the fashionista tag on her and detest her event inaptness almost everywhere, but I do agree that she looks fabulous here. I really went “Wow” on seeing these pics. The makeup is flawless too! Though hair look too severe and that top knot looks too limp!

P.S. I would go with such a look for a night event and not a day one! So yeah event inaptness comes again too.

    • Now you are trying too hard to simply admit, that this lady looks good in this outfit.
Come on ladies, why are we so cruel.
A good outfit and styling is good! No need to make excuses.

      • Trying hard to admit? LOL Heard this for the first time! I’m honestly stating that despite the fact that I am not particularly fond her dressing nor her personality, she looks good! I’m calling spade a spade. Even if she looks good, let’s face it, she is too ‘suited booted’ for a day event!

  6. Poor girl tries too hard ….styling is flawless but sonam takes fashion too seriously….she is always competing with others rather than enjoying clothes …

    • Competing? With who? We are all passionate about something or other and for Sonam it’s fashion. Whether her fashion sense makes a statement or not, that’s up to you. But I give her credit for trying, even though it doesn’t work all time. And the red number here…well, she’s nailed it.

  7. The red is striking and the make up is flawless and love the hair. and those shoes must stink to high heavens considering she hasn’t got out of them in days:D

  8. She wears this fierce Red with style. Its color of day in chilly Delhi. Event and place aptness comments really!! Gigi hadid walks in NYC in litle black mini in snow 😉 ,not minding snow but keeping her fashion best foor forward, why is sonam bashed for event appropriatness! Just saying 🙂 She is exeptional, gorgeously styled here. Full credits to her for pulling off this simple yet stylish outfit.

  9. A look I love on Sonam after ages. It’s relatively less ornate and heavy in her standards. The colour and the boots make her look very slender and striking. Love the top knot. And special mention for the makeup which usually is so chalky and Ill blended. The makeup even if not perfect has improved.

  11. Who cares about the haters who are always mad because you gals don´t share their disdain for Sonam Kapoor? No need to explain why this is fabulous to you P&P, the fashion lovers will get it!

This is a top 10 look of the year & we are only in February. Sonam´s Neerja promotion round have been one of her very best ever!! Very understated & it did put the spotlight on Neerja first. But I LOVE this look even more because it made the launch of the Neerja Bhanot Biography stand out. When Sonam the fashion icon comes to play, it always gets maximum coverage & this time is no exception. It was covered everywhere & did i say how much i love it!!

  12. She looks stunning. My only gripe is that she is promoting a film based on the true story (and death) of a brave woman ‘Neerja’ so just wish she would stay in character and tone it down. As this makes her look bad, as though she is not really bothered about the concept of her movie and is more bothered about being a fashionista.

  13. you dont have to justify your love for sonam by taking names of some Japanese designers and photographers :-)… we know you are biased and its ok !

  14. We all know , she is all about high fashion looks and trends. Very chic and stylish , trend setting… whatever… Given her choice of profession is acting, waiting for Neerja to release and see how good she acts as well!

  15. Whats not to love?
    She looks fabulous !

Is the knot reminding anyone else of Deepika’s look at some recent award show?
I didn’t like it then, but mostly because of DP’s dress being so dreamy and the knot too severe.
    Here, no complaints.

  16. She looks great! And after ages might I say ( everything else previously mostly seemed like done-to-death-too-many-times!) This is a real novel look and one that she completely pulls off as well!
On an aside, what do you guys do to the site so that the ‘next’ tab at the bottom of the page keeps disappearing, like even now?! It’s just exasperating!

  17. There’s no denying that she looks great but out side of a photo-shoot, this looks like a case of too many elements at the same time. Like someone else said, this would have been so much better if she had chosen classic black pumps over those boots and ditched the bag.

  18. You guys know why that whole ‘biased’ tag started, especially with reference to Sonam, right? And that was probably a couple of years ago – and you’re still getting such comments. You even posted something saying it’s not Sonam you were biased towards it is Anamika Khanna etc. etc. Some of the comments made then, including mine, pointed out that you seemed to apply different rules when critiquing looks, with similar make-up/styling/any other issues being called out regularly, sometimes quite bitingly, for some, while for others the same things are ignored or some lame platitude sounding comment reserved for them. So, to actually ask your readers to go ahead and call you biased, is no biggie – you are. I get it – it’s your blog. But like you said about Sonam and this look – just own it!
