In The Row. And In Ungaro.

It was a top from the The Row that Sonam Kapoor wore to a recent musical. She paired the top with a pair of wide-legged black trousers, black pumps and red clutch. Red lips completed her look.

At the launch of her upcoming movie’s first look, Sonam wore an Ungaro draped dress which she paired with some metallic flats and a headband/wreath, doing Grecian all the way.

While she looked great at both events, our favorite certainly was the icy Ungaro. Our only gripe… T’was bit much for an event where everyone else was very, very casually dressed. Should’ve saved it for another photo-op!

  1. Sonam overdressed?I think it’s OK for her to dress to the nines given that she is the heroine of the movie and it was the first press meet.

  2. LOVE how this girl puts together a ‘look’. She looks great, especially in the first picture. I agree with you though, she does seem a tad overdressed for the Mausan event, but lovely nonetheless…

  3. She looks really nice at both the events but for some reason the styling doesn’t suit her personality. It never does and she advocates all the time that great style is about being yourself. In the beginning, she was quite experimental but now it looks so repetitive and borrowed. Nothing original.

  4. kinda dissapointed at both. the first one looks like a granma goin to an office. second one, is she goin to a toga/costume party? n btw shes done the one shoulder dress to death by now.

    • Totally my opinion.. sonam needs to dress down a little bit sometimes, its WEIRD that she dresses like this to a music opening. Man, i am sure people must have thought when they saw her: what is she thinking?

  5. I think what sets Sonam apart from all her peers is the way she experiments with clothes and gets away with most of them looking great on her lanky figure. she is never over the top and always has the right blend of clothes, bags ,shoes and make up .

  6. She looks good in both. Very old world charm that comes inherently. The gown should have been for the premiere or some really dressy event, would have been perfect. The others were so dressed down, did she miss a memo?

  7. If it were any this would have been your assessment – badly tucked in top, ill fitting pants, and last but not the least visible bra – isn’t this one of your biggest pet peeves? As for the Ungaro you’d have said one of the following – washed out/ wish she’d worn nude pumps over thongs/ got rid of the stuff in her hair and worn some accessories instead/ added some colour! As for my views – I like sonam but not try-hards.

  9. She looks super, great, lovely in both the looks. My favt is the Grecian look which she always does justice to. She has the bone structure to carry these off-shoulder dresses so well. Agree with you about being overdressed. The girl in the background in jeans seems in sharp contrast.

  10. Love both looks. I have a feeling she didn’t realize that Shahid and his family would be so casually dressed at the promo launch. At any rate, the missed memo gave us a great look!

  11. She i s dressed like a grandmother at one event, and then just way too overdressed for the other one. I don’t think Sonam is very stylish to be honest. She just wears expensive brands, or copies looks from Hollywood. Sonam on her own has no individual style.

  12. Usually I will be the first to point out that Sonam’s style can be a little ‘try-hard’ (like she wants to be something she is not) But I adore her look in The Row. The top is meant to be messily tucked in, the collar is divine, her hair and red lips add an old world charm and the red clutch adds to her look.
The Ungaro is a bit too pretty-girl-princess for my taste.

On an aside, I think everyone is entitled to favourites. If there is to be a fashion fave in Bollywood, Sonam Kapoor would top most lists. Yet some of these comments seem to somehow blame this on HHC. Its unfair.

    • I think the problem is that P&P never find fault with Sonam – I find it a little hard to believe that a fashionista taking fashion risks all the time never gets it a tad bit wrong even once.
In this picture for example – I get the look, the hair, the tucking of the shirt, and the red lips. But the exposed bra-lines are far too obvious. If it were anyone else P&P would’ve called it out and said “didn’t look in the mirror” or “missed rule number 1”.

  13. So Sonam can do no wrong. C’mon P&P, you guys are losing credibility.
The 2nd look is ok but the 1st one is a disaster. The visible innerwear, the ill-fitted pants and those shoes with those pants, all shout-out “grandma at work”.

  14. gosh, the daggers are out on this, aren’t they? first look is my fave, a far cry from the usual itsy bitsy dresses, sky high heels that most heroines like to wear.

as a muslimah who wears hijab, this is a look that i find inspiring. i took one look at the outfit and thought ‘hey i can take something from this’. its a lovely modest outfit.

trust me it’s difficult for a muslimah to be inspired by mainstream celebs when it comes to style.
