Concur. This seems to be inspired from the attire of the construction workers in the north-Indian states.

Styled a little differently this could have had potential. A not quite.

Really? I think Sameera can’t pull it off actually. This is a cool, casual, bare minimum makeup and chappals look from Sonam and I think she looks really good. The bag could have been different I agree but it’d not a disaster.

    1. Myla at | | Reply

Agree! I think Sameera would be the last person who could have pulled this one off. Sonam looks great. Definitely not a disaster.

This made me miss my grandma sorely. She looks almost exactly like this when she comes out from bathroom after taking shower – with a blouse and petticoat. Only yhing is she doesn’t wear flats in there.

      haha haaaa :)
      @KJ: ur hilarious ! :)

Don’t like the tote, but love the look!

    1. Myvoiceandyours at | | Reply

She looks so ‘fashionable’ when she forgets to be OTT!

    2. ash at | | Reply

Same here. It looks great. Nice for a movie night – comfy. But that tote has to go! It screams for a boho/ hobo bag. I didn’t think Sonam would have a LV monogrammed bag !!

Did she forget to put on her saree after wearing that blouse plus the petticoat type thing? Terrible.

  7. SK at | | Reply

Wtf is that!? Expected more From Sonam.

  8. Ritu at | | Reply

Big time miss by sonam….not expected. The outfit is pathetic!

The look works, it’s pretty trendy yet understated.

But what doesn’t work is this – Sonam carries a $3000 handbag yet still carries her cell phone in her hand. What is in her bag then? This is a consistent thing in many “off-duty” Bollywood pap pics, Sonam included.

    1. KJ at | | Reply

The bag is to hold the pair of clothes she forgot to change into. :P

  10. Sej at | | Reply

I would say for a change she isn’t trying hard and looks good. It works when you don’t try hard to look all fashionista like she usually does. The bag is atrocious regardless of how much it costs. The LV’s in Vanilla are a significantly better sight then these.

Thats one UGLY bag. A cheap item with a expensive price tag – and people line up for it.

I would suggest P&P too add like dislike button for comments…As some comments are really amazing :-)

Dafaqqqq!!!!! she looks like a street urchin in this one!!!

  14. Aparna at | | Reply

A blouse and petticoat stitched out of a hospital curtain or a pillow cover material makes way into Sonam’s wardrobe and suddenly its all WOWWW!!

We need to get real sometimes.

this is what happens when you emulate western trends blindly. because the cropped top and skirt is in in the west, a designer replicates here, forgetting entirely the local cultural resonances — which is what causes us to remember grandmas coming out of the bath without draping the saree… when WILL indian designers learn to work in our own context?

    1. deb at | | Reply

      Totally agree.

      1. Kari at | | Reply

Its a big trend outside of India..Nothing wrong with staying current with your designs but do it right..I am all about casual and comfy weekend look but this isn’t what comes to mind..That skirt is beyond horrible..So ill-fitted

    2. Adya at | | Reply

but you forget that grand dad thinks its hot?!!! Inspiration baby!

  16. liza at | | Reply

Love the look.None but Sonam could pull this off. She looks soooo cute and fashionable.

Urgh! Another horrible fashion-studenty type outfit from Nishka, both her and Masaba need to opt for alternative career paths…

    1. Shilpa at | | Reply

Agree. Horrible amateurish. Trying too hard

    2. Adya at | | Reply

Please! Not Masaba and Nishka in the same sentence… Masaba has a certain something! Nishka is beyond banal.

See that’s why Sonam is not Sameera. Sameera dresses up purely to please the blog but Sonam doesn’t care. She knows that outfit and that bag will get PnP to comment negatively but what the heck.

I have to say she looks great just by virtue of the fact that she’s not dressed in an OTT costume.

  19. sunshine at | | Reply

No no sonam u look bad, dosent suit you at all.

  20. Genie at | | Reply

This is how lil’ girls are dressed in rural south India. But the same look on a young lady looks kinda cheap..these designers I tell ya!! :-/

  21. ittu at | | Reply

oh plzz…. this is not a designer clothing at all… in villages, the cow owners females use to wear this…. and ya, in abetter manner…

  22. neha at | | Reply

She looks like a hospital nurse……and i never thought i’d see sonam with a loud monogrammed LV bag ….

  23. Adya at | | Reply

Kaamwali bai style zindabad. Seriously! Kudos to Sonam for making this look good or may be its always been a great look and we never saw it. It looks like the moonsipalty school hottie, cropped her shirt and went to audition as an extra. Nothing wrong with that!

    1. KT at | | Reply

Aaaaaargghhhh. When? When will we learn to read the comment before clicking submit? Seriously. Enough with the elitism. We get it. You are uber rich, studied in an uber expensive school. If only they taught you better sense.

      1. jnnsmpth at | | Reply

People seem to be confusing ‘dressing well’ with ‘dressing rich’. So what if we drew inspiration from our kaamwalis? Must we constantly channel our inner Alexa Chung (and the like)? The open insults thrown at women belonging to the lower rung of the society is most obnoxious.
Btw, is moonsipalty some confounding wordplay that means more than just municipality? :-/

    2. Adya at | | Reply

Kind of late, but I have not said anything negative about the lower classes, in fact I have always felt maids dress better that the madams in their blingy saris. This is exactly a municipality school uniform, cropped short. Usually tailored on the cheap, they don’t fit well and are exactly this shade. A designer dress should fit better, be tailored better. Its not a criticism of municipality schools (and their hotties), its a critique of Nishka. You do agree that there are hotties in municipality school just as there are hotties in Ecole Mondiale?

Great idea bad execution on cropped top and skirt.Yukk!

    she looks good!

  26. Resham at | | Reply

I would have paired the top with khadi pallazo pants, skipped the oversized ugly bag, added some coral earrings and chunky bracelet ….and changed the shoes to espadilles

    1. Adara at | | Reply

That would mean mean wearing a completely different outfit. :P
