In Ashi Studio

Sonam visited the India Pavilion at Cannes today for the unveiling of chef Vikas Khanna’s latest book, Utsav. For the appearance she picked a white Ashi Studio dress wearing the A-line dress with white strappy sandals.

Although this was a dress appearance, between the cream look in the sari and the revealing neckline yesterday, this look felt like it came too soon. It, also, felt a bit much for the book launch.

  1. Wow she looks stunning but like you said OTT for a book launch. I wish she had worn this over the blue gown she wore yesterday. Would have been understated elegance.

  2. This is her best of the three outfits by far. With the best styling too
Unfortunate that it was relegated to a smaller event

  3. Major love!! whattta look…
that being said, my faves on the RED CARPET were in this order – Katrina, Ash, Sonam…
The harsh bronzer made Sonam look way to weird in the red carpet pics. Wish she chose this look instead.

  4. Oh! What is with this boob show! Stop it already! And this is not even for the red carpet…this and the laser cut blouse both for talks
Just feel uncomfortable seeing so much cleavage for interviews…so in your face

    • Good Lord they’re breasts. A regular old body part
So much discomfort over something every woman possesses and what most babies are nourished from
Who cares if she’s showing cleavage

      • Ah hmm what is this comment even supposed to mean?
Yes we know babies are nourished from breasts, so should every body go about topless?

    • I don’t see the problem..She doesn’t look vulgar. Way better & classy than celebrities who drape pallu only on one side and scream for attention. I did not even pay attention to the twins…

  5. This was THE book launch. It is Cannes. If not there whereelse cana girl be over the top? Sonam is like Fan. They own it! She came as a movie star & elevated the whole event to another level.

    This gown is a DREAM!

  6. This looks so great on her! The colour and cut is just perfect for her.

It’s Cannes…It’s Sonam…why shouldn’t she go all out or dress to whatever degree she wants…if there’s anyone whose experiments and choices people look forward to, it’s her!

  7. So what happens after they walk the red carpet? Do they go inside the auditorium and watch the selected movies of the festival, or just walk the red carpet and go back to the hotel. Could someone please enlighten me?
    Thanks

    • In the blue gown, I know Sonam was at the red carpet for the premiere of Sea of Tree, starting Matthew McConaughey and Naomi Watts. I think the studio that makes the movie being watched also throws a party for the after-premiere. I’m sure these parties are uber glamarious, with fancy delicacies and expensive alcohol being served, where the stars mingle.

  8. You may think that it’s OTT but there is no denying she looks absolutely stunning. As for the plunging necklines, at least she is not spilling over. LOVE this look

  9. Gorgeous!!!!!!! is it a little too bridal……yes…..but I think that styling is really smart and takes it in a different more fashion direction.

  10. How is this OTT? She looks drop dead gorgeous and what’s wrong with a little skin show? She rarely does it for her red carpet appearances in India. Tbh I love this look and I don’t agree with this idea of being over the top – it has a vintage vibe but is still appropriate.

  11. Mallika Sherawat’s debut appearance at Cannes looks prudish compared to Sonam’s repeated attempts at introducing her girls at Cannes this year. Awfully cheap.

  12. in love with this look..love the bun.. love that dress..everything! i am a huge sonam fan..the only thing i didn’t like about that dress is open neck! this dress by itself is so so gorgeous it doesn’t need any kind of skin show! i think the open neck is not required at all! otherwise in lurveee with this look!

  13. Are you kidding me? You don’t have to prove a point here. Just because people accuse you of being biased, doesn’t mean you HAVE to find faults everywhere. She looks really gorgeous and classy here. The dress sits on her frame like it was made for her. The classic understated elegance with that pretty pretty makeup. The only problem I had with that Ralph & Russo gown was the color, it was way too stark for my liking and the makeup, somehow looked unfinished. Otherwise she was spot on. I think THIS however, may be my favorite Cannes look from Bollywood this year so far. Hopefully she will outdo herself on the red carpet tonight and we get a reason to go gaga over her all over again.

  14. Love this on her but I think so many people are biased here. If anyone else had done this much boob show you would have all said how cheap . Because it’s Sonam you are ok with it!

  15. The theme for her Cannes outings seems to be “LOOK! BOOBS!”

Her sari yesterday was a little tacky. It’s odd that she would have to rely on nude pasties to cover up, especially considering it was a designer brand and an in built bra and lining would’ve been less eye-sore.

Her blue gown – the gown itself was quite dramatic and suited opening night but her make up was off. Way too much contouring which is surprising because her make is usually not an issue.

This outing for book launch – she looks great – make up is spot on, beautiful dress. A little over dressed for a day event and again, boobs, but hey if she wants to show off her boobs at a random book launch then go for it.

  16. Poor PnP. If they appreciate, they are accused of Sonam bias. If they criticize, they are again accused of Sonam bias. For Sonam posts PnP, I suggest you offer no critique at all. 😉 😉

  18. Actually she looks good. It was a chef’s book launch so maybe she wanted to look all saucy and creamy. 😛 As long as the cups don’t runneth over or hanging at the tummy, it doesn’t hit the trashy territory.

  19. UGGH, just plain cheap. I had to say that again. I usually like her sense of style, but this year at Cannes, all I want to say is – Cover up for heavens sake, its not sexy, its not attractive, the prettiness is completely lost. Its just plain in your face classless vulgar. I dont have an issue with evealing clothing. Infact folks have come out quite well even in lesser. But this style and overshow of the dames just makes it plain tacky. Gives a Jennifer Lopez at those decade ol Emmys vibe. Yuck

  20. I am not a Sonam fan but she looks amazing here. Wish she had worn this on the red carpet instead of that blue gown.
P&P – Where can we buy beautiful gowns (not very expensive) online/ in Delhi? Also, what material do you recommend for a formal evening ball? Most gowns I am seeing online are chiffon and I am not sure if that would be appropriate. Thanks!

  21. Good look but too OTT for a book launch. She needs to get a grip.
Also, didn’t Priyanka wear a black version of this recently at some style awards?

  22. She looks fabulous but she’s definitely been showing off her new implants ever since she got them. I think it started from a magazine cover if I’m not mistaken. Of course if I got implants, I’d want to show them off too.
