Cannes season is upon us! And at a recent event for L’Oréal Paris, brand ambassador Sonam Kapoor gave us a taste of what’s to come in her Ashi Studio couture dress. With her hair in a slick knot, the actor finished out her look with a bright lip, Nirav Modi jewelry and Manolo Blahnik pumps. She looked good!

  1. That is a really fugly dress!! But Sonam somehow manages to look pretty! I am still to like any of the ‘Ashi Studio’ gowns, most of them look ridiculous.

  2. Well maybe I don’t understand this level of high fashion but this is a HIDEOUS dress. Like a couple of curtains stitched together. Esp that back portion looks like an unflattering tail.

  3. Wow, Sonam looks fabulous! The back portion of the dress is not something I’d like, but she does make it work. Next to her, Katrina looked drab!

  4. I’m not too keen on the dress, but Sonam makes it work. It helps that she has such a lovely face and that her finishing touches are spot on.

  5. In the back pic (last pic) it looks like the dress is slipping off also my question is still the same..How she managed to sit in that dress?? 😛

  7. That is an extremely unflattering dress with hideous ruffles. She’s done off-shoulders and ruffles a million times and this is nothing new. Really don’t get how obsessed you guys are with her. You are way way wayy to harsh on some other girls who sport only minor gripes.

  8. I took the pain of gong through ashi studio website and they have an amazing collection, minimalist, fashionable and very feminine with old world regal charm. Even this dress looks amazing on the model and easy on the eyes. While Sonam does a great job wearing a beautiful creation like this, sometimes its the context and surrounding of an attire that makes the difference. It might look complicated and hideous to some but fashion is artful and the harsh truth is that comfort is not everything. Stepping out of home to go to the bank also takes some effort and while we want to be comfy in pajamas, we dress up and fix ourselves. Give her a break guys, its a fashion event, not high jump 😛

  9. Sonam is a true epitome of a fashionista!! Girls, whether you like it or not, you and I cannot make this dress look fab the way she does it! Lets give it to her and be happy that we have her who can represent India at an international level with the required poise and grace what we see in other countries!

  10. Amazing look. And for once her makeup looks spot on. I love the back portion. It’s so different and dramatic. She deserves all the praise. Why are u guys always blaming P&P for having a sonam bias. She is miles ahead of others when it comes to fashion. It’s the bare fact. Though katrina did look nice, sonam loooked not only way more fashionable but surprisingly also way more beautiful.

  11. Trust Sonam to get soo many negative comments about About her clothes n makeup. Come on guys give her a break…NO celebrity gets it right each n every time!!

  12. That dress is ugly and as Tim Gunn would say overworked.

Plus it is definitely not event appropriate. Is she attending a ball, a gala or a major event like the Oscars? Why does she mainly overdress for events? A part of being stylish is knowing the right clothes to wear to the right events.

  13. People always accuse PnP of having a bias towards Sonam… but clearly some of the commenters here have a bias AGAINST her! She is working the hell out of that dress! She styled it perfectly, from top to toe, so let’s give her credit for that.

Also, all these catty comments about “knowing what to wear and when to wear it”? This is the same crowd that comments “she looks soooo tired” to every star who doesn’t have pots of concealer and eyeliner on. If you expect celebrities to look like gods and goddesses all the time, don’t complain when they bring their A game to every event.

  14. Whenever I see international celebrities or fashionistas, I associate a personality with them. Take Jane Fonda who always looks like ‘superwoman meets rockstar’. Her appearances always reflect this. Or Natalie Portman whose style always says, Girls just wanna have fun. Closer home, Katrina always makes me think of ‘angelic’ or Vidya Balan with her ‘earthy’ vibe. Then comes Sonam, in gowns, dresses, lehengas, blazers and everything else that made it to the runway…And I can only think, poor girl, her personality is always about ‘trying hard’.

  15. I don’t love her or hate her. That being said, you know when you sometimes walk out of the bathroom and your dress gets stuck in your bum, at first glance this is what I thought happened. But she looks okay, I guess.

    Sonam, my darling, you shine!
