At The Races

It was Anamika Khanna again, this time a sari, one which Sonam paired with silver jewellery from Amrapali at the Hello! Cup. As interesting as the necklace was, we think it could’ve been given a skip. The delish earrings and bracelet were more than enough for the look.

  1. I am fairly new to this site as a commenter and loving it. Been telling my friends here about this site. But even to me it’s quite obvious you guys kinda go easy on Sonam! No comments on the drab looking sari and blouse? You always praise the accessories or make up or something even in her most unsalvageable outfit where another celeb would have been just a Not-Quite! So is this like an inside joke or something? ’cause I have seen a few other comments pointing out the Sonam thing…It’s your blog no denying you can do so – just asking…

  2. She looks okay, but its such a bizarre look for a day at the race, when no other lady is dressed like this! I get how her mind works here, she is fancying herself someone in the line of Maharani Gayatri Devi or her mother Indiara Raje, with their royal regalia and chiffon sarees at the race. But Hello! its 2012 not, 1932! And so much make up for a day event!! Good lord. A miss for me all the way.

  3. I LOVE the little purse she slung on her shoulder and how the jewelry offsets the sari. Sonam and Anamika together are the best thing to have happened to Bollywood fashion.

  4. The hair is in the way. She should have worn it up or behind. It looks too much like my niece playing with her mom’s clothes and jewellery…except my niece is 4 :s
The sari alone is nice, the jewellery alone is nice and sonam without them looks nice!

  5. I don’t quite get it. This is a Derby event, so why is Sonam Kapoor dressed for the evening with make-up that looks like it will melt away if she stands in the sun any longer? Or is this some movie propaganda again !

  6. Sonam has such a lovely face and looks charming here. It is a beautiful saree and the necklace, earrings, and bracelet are gorgeous.

But the look as a whole does not seem to be working. The tribal-influenced necklace, jhumkas, and bracelet (all probably from Amrapali) seemed designed for a different kind of saree/outfit.

I think the white Parsi-styled embroidery would look much better with pearls. Better still, she could have worn the saree and the blouse with no jewelry at all…just a stylish watch.

  7. I don’t know what it is about Sonam, but she always looks a bit awkward in sarees. It’s as if she’s wearing a costume instead of an outfit. I appreciate that she tries to modernize Indian outfits without going the bikini blouse route, but there’s just something off about the look.

  8. Why can’t one wear saree at the races?…. U don’t hv to follow the routine dresses n hats stuff…… I think she looks vry refreshing n that necklace on the saree is to die for…… Love u sonam!!!

  9. Exactly, y not the saaree?? its light and it suits the weather i think. The necklace BREAKS the whiteness of the blouse and the high neckline of the blouse, it balances the look on the top half and brings more attention to her face, also helps move your eye around. Without the necklace the look becomes slightly boring and placid don’t u think??
