On the fence regarding this outfit. What is that hanging from her back? Looks like a tail.

All this for an Iftar party? Lol. This girl has no sense of what’s event appropriate.

Dont tell me u like ?Why are you guys Sighing for something which looks like Mahabharat costume .
She needs to looks at Nandita Das once in a while for simplicity . Sometimes simple is better.
But as usual the bias opinion prevails. ( mine and of course urs)

She can afford it so why dress down.

Simple saree look is Nandita Das’s fashion statement n she does it elegantly. Even in Cannes where everybody wears all designer clothes she opts for traditional saree n minimalistic jewelery coz that’s her signature style, that’s what she likes. And being unconventional is Sonam’s style, her liking !! If Nandita’s way of doing things okay then why not Sonam’s. Everybody has there own sense of Fashion n style why compare. As for the dress its not conventional but definitely not costume-y. Sonam pulled the OTT nicely with simple soft lips n nice hairdo. Kudos to Sonam to think beyond Aanarkalis which is everyone’s choice for the iftar parties.

      1. ason at | | Reply

Dressing down has nothing to do with what and how much one can afford. Sometimes one can take it easy .
It is Mahabharatish in my opinion and if it is not yours then not my problem.
But yes I seem to hate Sonam’s trying too hard phase lately. One can change it up without being too costumey ( hint:kangana ). though i hated her choice of clothes in this event still i like her better .

        1. Ahot at | | Reply

Sorry, but Kangana´s late outings are ill-fiting so the point is moot. Her Armani is a disaster, & may we all agree to disagree but oh so politely? “It is Mahabharatish in my opinion and if it is not yours then not my problem.” is quite harsh imho

:\ whats going on the back?? dislike cuz of the business going on the back part…woo…disliking sonam’s look after long time ! :P

I think Anamika Khanna is a great designer. But this outfit is almost hideous. P&P – been following you for years, but honestly see some obvious prejudice in your opinions these days. You seem to be in the mode of once liking a designer, you are blind to anything they make! can we please lose it and be more objective :) this page will be even more fun then

Love it!! Sonam is the true fashionista..I am expecting DP to copy her and wear the same outfit and style it differently..And P&P please ignore the comments that say your are biased…

    1. KJ at | | Reply

Haha DP already wore a similar outfit in Macau remember? See here http://www.highheelconfidential.com/deepika-padukone-deepikapadukone-in-naeem-khan-naeemny-at-iifa-rocks-2013-in-macau/
So I think Sonam failed at copying BIG time

      1. Anjali at | | Reply

Really? I do not agree that Sonam’s dress (which I do not care for) is similar to Deepika. Sonam is wearing something from Anamika’s most recent collection. I agree with ason that sometimes simplicity is better.

      2. Divya at | | Reply

If you really think this outfit (not that great though) is even close to deepika’s iifa appearance, then u really need an eue check. Or you are too desperate to prove the copying trend other way around. Sorry failed!

      3. Pri at | | Reply

Seriously!!!! u think its a copy of DP’s dress!!! Its totally different…..I think u failed a big time in ur attempt t

But for the cape and the unfortunate ruching in the front, it is a nice outfit, but so inappropriate for an Iftar party. If it was just a movie promotion thing, just call it that and not attach a sacred religious event to it.

Omit the extra white fabric this outfit would have been cute. I do like the hair and those shoes.

Firstly, I think Sonam does amazingly well to pull of this stellar Anamika Khanna couture. I don’t think there are many people who can pull this look off but Sonam does it so effortlessly! To those who say she is overdressed, well, darlings as they say you can never over educated or overdressed.

Secondly, why do I sense some negative/bitter vibe in HHC lately. It seems like you all are only commenting to peg down either the actor or comment on P&P bias-ness. WTF!! I miss the old HHC when people commented about the clothes/style not the wearer.

Sorry that had to be said, I’m one of the older followers of HHC and it sad to see the state it has become now. It’s been hijacked by annoying fans! Urgh.. Go away!

    1. kasthuri at | | Reply

I think one reason is that P&P are a little “stricter” on what looks good probably because they have seen so many looks over the years. 99% looks get almost, not quite or below. So it feels like some kind of ranking system rather than open commentary about fashion choices. Cant blame them really since they have been doing this for years now. But cant blame the fans 100% too.

    2. ason at | | Reply

Most of the time she is well put together but not all the time . and IN MY Opinion the pic above demonstrates the not so good fashion choice of hers. If you have the right to speak up we do too. Does not mean we have to agree. The negativity u sense is becuase I don’t agree with wht you are saying or for that matter Priyanka /Payal .Thus they have comment section. Everybody has a mind and opinion u see. So you can skip reading instead of asking others to go away or you are welcome to leave .
FYI I have been following this blog for a long time as well.

OMG! I could kiss you right now! I soo agree with you! I even think that P&P themselves got sucked into it, because sometimes their comments come accross totally condescending. But fear not, we are here to check each other & call out anyone who is out of line! ;-)

    4. Adara at | | Reply

The overly politically correct approach/the comment policing / the *zipped-lips* to not hurt the designers nor the big celebs are the only thing i find it annoying on HHC now. I wish we can go back to like 2008 and say what we wanted to. Le sigh.

There’s a fine line between genius and madness, and it’s currently running down the sides of Sonam’s outfit.

I like this piece on Sonam. It’s weird but it works.

She should stop posing with her hands on her hips now or what’s known as ‘sorority shoulder’. It’s gotten annoying seeing her doing the same exact thing all the time no matter what. I know it’s to make her arms appear slimmer but she should get the same advice Aishwarya is always getting here- embrace your body, Sonam.

    1. Vin at | | Reply

quite agree with the pose bit… it looks ridiculous… and the outfit per se is ok its too costumey for the event, looks totally out of place..

Sonam looks great. Outfit is decent. But I’m sorry, Anamika Khanna’s designs haven’t changed in years. It seems like she’s stuck in a rut.

Although the dress is not for everybody Sonam definitely makes it work….Yes its not conventional, yes its different, yes is not a anarkali or a gown but thats what makes it unique. Not everybody can carry such unconventional outfit but Sonam does it confidently. The makeup, hair n that gorgeous smile lifts up the look. Sonam dared to do it different n is looking really great.

IDK why ppl complain abt Sonam being dressy in every event…well to start she can afford it, she has a stylist n access to designer clothes so why dress down :P Sonam always keeps things different n fresh. One day she is all subtle n soft and other day playful, fun. She always goes the unconventional route, she restarted the loud red lip look n now everybody is sporting it. When she wore Masaba for the first time in Cannes ppl were on the fence with that too…but look now Masaba is a huge name. Same goes with her saree n nose ring look. She doesn’t go with the same old anarkali or gown like others. I hv seen other actors wear hideous clothes but ppl praising them but the moment Sonam wears anything OTT or different she receives criticism.

I hv been following HHC since it started, what I liked was the focus solely on fashion n not actors. The comments here were also focused on fashion…sometimes people’s opinion were different from that of PnP but there was nvr soo much negativity. Ppl are targeting actors rather than the look. Its sad to see this blog turning into the likes of other bollywood gossip sites where fans pull down one actor to pimp their favs :(

    Sorry for the esaay :P

:* It was a welcomed opinion, everything you said!

      1. Pri at | | Reply

        Thanx :)

        1. Ruby at | | Reply

FYI Sonam did not “re start” the red lip. She is contracted to Loreal and she basically follows whatever’s the latest on the catwalks so NO she is not original.
I don’t mind the way Sonam dresses or should say the way her stylists dress her. Sometimes she looks amazing although this outfit is with its silly cape is ridiculous (ahem ahem Tom Ford) but what I think a lot of us are trying to say to P and P is that is that their opinion seems to be skewed more towards the person/actor as opposed to the outfit.
