In Elie Saab Couture

For a L’Oréal event, Sonam picked an Elie Saab Couture dress. Wearing the full-skirted strapless dress with ankle-strap pumps that the dress was presented with on the runway, Sonam cut a pretty picture. It’s a silhouette we’ve seen her favor repeatedly but no denying, she wears the sparkly dress well; can’t fault a thing here!

    • Not fully comfortable with her arms maybe? I don’t know that’s a hunch-I do that that’s why it’s my guess. She looks great though. This coming from someone who isn’t usually gaga over Sonam’s looks.

    • I think her arms are at her hips cause the dress has pockets and her hands are in the pockets 🙂 The pockets are not very obvious due to the volume of the skirt.

  1. As much as I dislike ms Kapoor, there is no denying she looks great..However, there is no wow factor here and may be I always expect something new from Sonam..For some reason this look feels like she has worn something similar before or atleast has been styled this way before…Sorry but my expectations from a fashionista are sky high, so I feel a little let down 🙂

  2. So what they said on Instagram about this look being styled by her sister Rhea was all lies?! she didn’t style it. They just copied exactly what was presented on the runway down to the hairdo. And nothing wrong with that. Just don’t take credit for something you didn’t do.

    • That is Kapoor sisters for you.. LOL plagiarize to the max and then claim to be fashionistas..

and then complain that everyone else are “copying” them..

    • My thoughts exactly; she is no fashionista to me…she has the funds to purchase the high labels . Her M.O is to replicate runway presentations; she hardly ever personalized a look. All I can say is she has the shape for the dress.

      • Yeah her style is very contrived..it always looks like she has made a BIG effort and seems like a slave to labels..
yeah she looks good in clothes when she’s styled to the nines but who wouldn’t?

        • Actually I would beg to differ to that. We know of many wealthy socialites/celebs who are unable to pull off a look even though they have the resources. People like Sonam are not plagiarizing since they always credit the designer for their designs ( which also includes their stylistic visions). They do have the right to call themselves fashionistas since they made the decision to choose a particular clothing even though they had billion other options. I don’t know why everyone always has such negative comments. Its hard to be under scrutiny at all times and our decisions tend to sway. Its ironic how sometimes people sometimes say ” she should have gone with the way it was presented in the runway”. I don’t know, sometimes it just makes me sad that women have such caustic comments for other women.

    • Gosh! Copying a look exactly how it was presented on the runway must take a lot of effort. Copycat much, Sonam?

  3. Whether her stylist was her sister, or whether the style was plagarized by the Kapoor sisters, or maybe not…we can argue forever. The point is Sonam looks fabulous. Gorgeous shoes.

  4. She looks stunning but I can’t help visualizing Kangana in this dress. Maybe because she wears these frock like dresses so well.

  5. Despite the fact that Sonam looks good here.
I think this is where Sonam and Jhanvi should’ve swapped outfits. Sonam should’ve worn the black floral that Jhanvi wore to the IIFA red carpet and Jhanvi should’ve worn this.
    Would’ve been perfect.

    • It is not critiquing , its called having fun. And hope people understand that modesty is not a long lost quality. Reminds me of Rahul Dravid when he was hailed Wall of India , he refused to agree and joked, the moment my performance goes downhill people will say ‘the wall is crumbling’, this was when he was in his peak. There is a reason why the legends never call themselves legends. She will have to bear the pressure now for sometime at least…

      • Isn’t KWK a fun show too? So when she tried to have some fun on the show, this is what happens. She is being mocked for her amazing fashion sense, which in fact was the game changer for bollywood fashion industry. It is the kind of show where modesty is to be kept aside and that is exactly why we like it. I am not defending sonam kapoor, but i guess this criticism and mockery is being dragged too far. Here she looks amazing and thats all that matters on this blog. There are other tacky bollywood gossip blogs where people can vent out their criticism and let this be a fashion blog.

    • I think part of it is the over confidence you see in her outside this site. Calling herself a young icon and claiming that ugly people are unjustly called good actors and what not. All that has clearly made her less popular and its showing here regardless of her fashion choices.

  6. she looks good but she always copies the models a 100% from dress , hairstyle to accessories. No personal input factors in her dressing. So much for her claim to being a fashionista. I am amazed she has the audacity to get her PR to use words like fashion game changer in bollywood to describe her.

  7. Looks like Sonam and her team managed to copy that pretty runway look – so I’ll give the entire team 100 points for effort.

  8. She looks good and all, but almost every dress except one from this collection looked so uninspired to me. Would have much rather seen her in an Anamika Khanna.

  9. Well here is my take……..Sonam carries clothes well and makes fine and interesting choices ( which isn’t very difficult if its an expensive designer piece) most of the time. Now the looks are mostly copied ……a true fashionista would have her own take on a look.which she doesn’t .
So Ms Sonam stop blowing your trumpet and thinking you are superior……

    • So true…completely agree…I dont think she is a fashionista or a style diva…Media should kindly take notice and dethrone her of these tags..

      Reply
    • I agree! Especially when she said on KWK that Deepika’s style is not hers at all… she wears whatever her stylist asks her to wear and that she needs to wear her personality… or something along those lines…

      Ummmm… did someone say hypocrite?

  10. Look at those stems ~ FABULOUS!! I dont care much for the whole look its two contrived and she has literally copied the runway model so there’s nothing original there. But Sonam does have great legs and that is what gets the “oomph” on this look!

  11. Would have looked far better on Kangana. As a so called fashionista she is supposed to be forward ie Cate Blanchett, Tilda Swinton, SJP but on she just copies a runway look and states she’s an original. Yeah Sonam you look good but do does everyone else these days thanks to their stylists so really you no longer are exceptional. Kangana or Alia would have looked just as good. You called fashion an art so where’s your creativity?

  12. Sonam put her foot in her mouth this time. Gone too far with her Fahsion Icon comment. I for one don’t feel sorry for her for getting bashed. As for the above pics if she had an individual style she would have made that dress her own rather than copying head to toe.(Like she accused a certain actress not having individual style )

  13. In all fairness, she looks good here. But she’s copping a lot of flak coz apart from bagging other girls’ (like deepika) style, she also blows her own trumpet and calls herself a legend, fashion icon and what not. No Honey, you don’t do that. You just do your thing… have fun dressing up.. and let OTHERS give you tags like legend and fashion icon etc.

  14. Cover the face and it looks that all three looks in the first row are of the same person! See no fashionista there. Enough said.

  15. She looks ok, none of her looks are ‘wow’ type or look effort less and generally styled similar to Audrey Hepburn.
As someone said above might have worked better on someone younger like Jhanvi or even Alia Bhatt.

  16. She does look good. Giggling at the comments taking a dig at her. But I sort of agree a teeny weeny bit to her comment on KWK about not good looking = good actors. It’s like how the healthier women & the so called “good” actors get a free pass on HHC for their disaster moments. Going by that assumption, it also means if you are good looking, you can’t act / probably can’t speak sense in an interview which has also been proved in bollywood for ages now.

  17. I wonder why she’s called a fashion icon. Its not that the dress is bad, but i don’t really see what’s sooo amazing about it! Much prefer kangana. What do you think P&P?
