In Anamika Khanna

It was an Anamika Khanna for Sonam Kapoor at a recent book launch. Braided hair worn up, strappy Choos and a Chanel bag completed her look.

Whether you agree or disagree with her sartorial choices, you must concede to the fact that no one else gives us quite the range she does. Like this appearance?

  1. Hahahaha. Weren’t you guys hoping these kind of pants don’t make a come back? ;).

If I saw just the top, she looks good. The pants- too much of a genie/Jasmine vibe 🙂

  3. I absolutely adore this look!
Even though she is wearing a lot of accessories, she does not look over styled. She is owning this look, and its perfect for her figure.
Sonam in Anamika Khanna (and I’m thinking back to her best look yet, in a similar Khanna toga with kundan jewellery at IFFA a few years ago) is flawless and stylish, but can always raise some heat in these comments.
If you don’t like her over styled, designer label looks then this is the perfect antidote.

  4. Not a shabby look and I think Kangna presents a wide range (without being a slave to labels) of unpredictable and choices as well.

  5. “…no one else gives us quite the range she does.”…surely then this is a case of quantity NOT being equal to quality! Not that I agree with you…I don’t see any “range” in Sonam’s (stylist’s) choices. The pants look lol-able and the sheer top is nothing to write home about. I’m trying to imagine if my job was to be a fashion blogger and I had to review a “star” I liked, would I be as generous (biased?) as you guys and keep praising every single appearance no matter how unpalatable!? Hmmm…nope…if Jon Hamm dressed like a bum I would say he dressed like a bum! But that’s just me 🙂 Don’t mean to offend…I really like this blog…but I’ve kinda had enough of your giving Sonam a free pass every damn time! IMHO, it does bring down your cred.

    • I think Sonam made the whole look somehow work, even though these fabrics & designs together shouldn´t.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I can´t believe you want P&P to absolutely share your opinions ALL the time. You don´t have to agree with them ( i certainly don´t all the time), but to imply it discredits their job as fashion bloggers is going
too far. So kindly have a seat ==> _/ _/

      • I ignored your first comment because, from my comment you deduced “you want P&P to absolutely share your opinions ALL the time” which was so about you inferring what you wanted to infer, rather than what I had actually stated, that it didn’t merit a response. Far from wanting P&P to share my opinions all the time, I’ve sometimes ended up looking at things with a different POV based on their critique, which is why this is one of my favorite places on the interwebs.

With your second comment now, you’re just being rude. Don’t want to take over P&P’s column with this sparring so I’ll stop with this – Pipe down! And first follow some of your own advice re. offending others!

    • What really disturbs me about your comment is the whole thinking process that led to it, it reflects your inability to understand the meaning of a blog. A blog is written by an individual to share “their” point of view and opinions.. If P&P happen to like every appearance of sonam’s then there is nothing wrong in appreciating her style in their every damn post. like you said about John Hamm, you may think he is dressed like a bum, but trust me their will be many readers who would think otherwise and it will be unfair for them to call you “biased”. So, I would request you to kindly restrict your comments to the theme of the blog and stop judging the blogger’s cred, it brings down you “cred” as a reader.

ps- The post was offensive, so “don’t mean to offend” really doesn’t help.

        • This “brings down (my) cred as a reader”!? I have no idea what convoluted thought process went behind that sentence…my regular appearance here, my being involved enough to comment and analyze P&P’s posts should suffice in establishing my cred as a reader! You may view this as a run of the mill blog but I hold P&P up to a higher standard than just any wannabe fashion blog, hence my observations. If P&P wanted this to be a one-sided conversation, then leave alone inviting reader inputs (as they frequently do), they would not even open this blog for comments. But they do! And with their growing fame, has come greater responsibility – whether they wanted it as part of the deal or not is a different topic. Their repertoire of posts, their command over the subject matter, and their well worded critiques have shown that they have the potential to make this even bigger than it is. IMO, objectivity is the USP of a critic. And that’s why I am vocal when I think that they keep aside their usually astute observations when commenting on their personal favorites. Now, if P&P feel that it is unfair to have such expectations from them, I’m sure they can let me know that themselves. You seem too quick to take offense to be offended by what was essentially a well intentioned remark to the blog’s authors.

          • What about using some “well worded critiques” yourself? Looks like you need to offend others in order to defend your point of view. “Convulted thought process”? o.0
            Really?
It´s not what you wanted to say but how you say it.
A seat is not enough for you, you need a damn couch.

          • Well, I see you’ve managed to attract a lot of flak from other readers here, thanks to your “well put non offensive” criticism. So, I shall politely withdraw myself from this pointless discussion and advise you to channelise your energy in replying to all these comments, you sure as hell have a lot of work.

      • THIS. Agree so much with your comment, Richa. And re: giving Sonam “a free pass every damn time” – inaccurate. P&P only recently slammed Sonam’s Naeem Khan look.

    • I have been a reader here for a while now, and not one time did I ever get the feeling that P&P are biased. Infact, I continue to respect them for their openmindedness, fairness, and class. If they see something they don’t like as much, they will say it.

  7. She looks amazingly pretty. and so refreshing. nice to see her change it up a little. I really don’t think she tries to hard. Love the sheer top. Anamika Khanna is a genius I tell you. I think ‘just me’ is one of sonam’s contemporaries, that secretly hopes to match up to her style. Deepika Padukone possibly?

  8. I have to give you guys credit for continuing to feature Sonam Kapoor with your own opinions despite getting what basically amounts to hate mail for it.

Comments may be community commentary. The blog is your own. I cannot believe people can be outraged if its reflects (crazy i know) your own likes/dislikes.

Kudos to you for approving all kinds of comments though, it enlightens the rest of us on the crazies/range of tastes out there.

And why don’t the rest of you haters go look at some boring actress, in a boring dress and pretend that’s fashion!!

  10. She’s looking really pretty but the outfit doesnt work at all. Love that hair! Reminds of a look Sophie also tried with an Indian outfit! My hair is too short for braids 🙁

  11. I did not like this look at all. Sometimes I think Sonam is too focussed on looking different/ making unusual choices ( the exact opposite of Priyanka Chopra), regardless of whether it looks good. Also, I think because of her unusual choices we’ve come to be more accepting of her choices. If you had a Deepika or Bipasha ( thinking of other tall women here), it would be a WThey…and I’m not accusing P&P of bias when I say that. I mean we’ve come to accept what Sonam wears because she experiments with her look often. It might actually look strange on someone else.

  12. Just a little something I noticed about her: In all the book launches she goes to, she likes to carry her reading glasses on her. I saw that at Chetan Bhagat’s book launch too. I find it a little funny. And this is in now a criticism of her.

  13. Whoa, wasn’t expecting a whole debate over Sonam K vis a vis HHC’s opinion of her. I don’t find them biased, except perhaps ONE time when they didn’t feature Maanyata Dutt in the WTHey section for wearing a sheer pink saree with a short petticoat. I can’t seem to get over that 🙂

Point is, at the end of the day, is a FASHION blog, not a blog about finding a cure for cancer. It’s supposed to be fun, girly, a way to spend time away from the mundane and everyday of life. IMHO, it should be treated as such. Also, it’s THEIR blog, they have a right to their opinions, even if they like a particular actor’s ‘look’ EVERY TIME. So what?

I am biased towards Vidya Balan and against Maanyata Dutt’s pink saree. Big deal.

Oh and I LOVE Sonam’s outfit/hair, everything in this. As many have said before me, its so refreshing and she looks her age. And she smiles easily which also helps, which Kangna doesn’t; but thats a whole new post 🙂

    Peace.
