In Anamika Khanna
The inaugural ceremony of the Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital had the who’s who of Bollywood in attendance with Sonam being one of them.
For the day event, she not-surprisingly picked an Anamika Khanna wearing the embroidered long kurta with a red Judith Leiber clutch and diamond and emerald earrings.
She had us at the kurta. It was just gorgeous and she did full justice to it with the styling.

On an aside, we keep getting accused of having a Sonam bias, being on her payroll, yada yada. The matter of the fact is, we actually have an Anamika Khanna bias.
There, we’ve admitted it! We love her work, be it an opulent over the top lehenga or a simple cape. She’s just so bloody good. So, if it’s any celeb (and not just the Kapoors) that wears AK, you’ll probably see us gushing over it. Like we mostly have. You can check our archives for proof. 😛
I love this look head to toe! Impeccable styling, drooling over that kurta! <3
That’s a wonderful bias to have!
People need to relax, you guys aren’t the first blog to love what Sonam wears or to have a certain bias towards a designer. If anything I feel like you guys give equal love/critique to everyone. As for this particular look of Sonam’s she hit it out of the ball park, perfect from head to toe and nobody wears Anamika Khanna like she does (there’s a reason why she is her muse.)
Good excuse Pnp but we are no fools .
The kurta is beautiful…but earrings are unnecessary. She is looking good. Anamika Khanna is very good…but you should positively criticize her work to help her improve.
Congrtazzz for sharing your thoughts on being biased. It requires a lot of courage.
I have seen a lot of positively and negatively biased comments towards celebrities and designers…I hope those commentators get enough courage to speak the truth.
I realize I should be commenting on the fashion at display. But I do have a pertinent question why are celebrities being called for the inaguration of a hosptial, let alone the celebrities for gods sake they managed to get the PM. How does hoopla and star power justify a hospital inauguration.
My 2 cents. A hospital, like any other business is a profitable venture. If celebrities endorse the place it means more business by cutomers who are fans of these celebs.
you guys are simply awesome!
The kurta is absolutely gorgeous and Sonam looks just perfect. You don’t have to explain your bias..we all have a soft spot for certain designers and you are not wrong about AK’s work either, who is very artistic and quite the perfectionist.
Love this look! Just gorgeous
as usual great outfit.. but too much for the event in question.. this girl does not know where to stop
+1
Your impeccable taste in fashion is what keeps me coming back to your blog….that kurta is to die for!
She looks good but I don’t think this look will work for 95% of people.
Sonam looks okay because of how tall and slim she is. Anyone shorter, broader, or with hips or boobs or pretty much ANY shape other than tall, skinny, and straight cannot pull this off. It would look like a lumpy housecoat pretty quickly.
Now this is a lovely anamika khanna piece……the one she wore for diwali was a disaster…..
How is this event appropriate for a hospital launch? This would have been a great awards night/ bollywood party look.
This looks like a well tailored Jaipuri razia on a beautiful woman.
Jaipuri razai
I saw your archives. You didn’t gush on poor Shraddha Kapoor who looks 10 times better than Sonam even on her worst day 🙂
Ha ha. Good point.
Are you being serious ?. No need to bring Shraddha Kapoor into this and try to make her look “better” than Sonam Kapoor by putting her down. Just shows a lack of maturity on your part.
This look might have worked on paper but just did not translate well. That is too much print, even with her being so tall, to look good.
People need to calm down – Sonam gets it right 9 times out of 10! She tends to pick the best of every collection (Anamika or otherwise) and usually styles it impeccably well – which is fairly reflected in the blog.
Looking good!
I love the kurta and the styling…but for a hospital launch…am not sure..film premiere, reality show, wedding, diwali party anything would have been perfect…
infact wud have loved this as her diwali outfit..
Ok this looks is absolutely gorgeous. Love everything about it and Sonam looks stunning!
This look would have been perfect if not for this chunky earrings.
with a dress with such loud prints, minimalistic accessories are key.
On an aside, am I the only one who feels Sonam lacks a style identity?
As eclectic as she may want to portray herself, I think she needs to pick something that people can easily identify her with. think rihanna with hip hop grunge. frieda pinto with girl next door elegance, kim kardashian with overtly sexy. sridevi with age appropriate elegance. they’re all icons.
What is Sonam’s identity?
p.s: I like Sonam.
Why the loud earrings? The outfit needed something simpler…
Since we are talking about biases I will agree to a kangana ranaut, neha dhupia and tisca chopra bias. They barely get it wrong. I like anamika Khanna but I don’t think her clothes are wearable
I would not complain about the Sonam bias, considering she was one of the early adopters of hi fashion. However I find the various other biases increasingly difficult to ignore – Ash gets a “face palm” but Neha Dupia’s mystery patches still get an adoring comment like “somehow she still pulls it off” . And for those loyal fans who say “but this is p and p’s blog and it is free and they can do whatever they want”, news flash – the
There are many links on the blog where your clicks generate revenue. I genuinely admire p&p for creating a great product and they really deserve thier success, but it is important to remember that this success is also because of a loyal fashion conscious audience and we are loyal because for many years the blog stayed classy and offered fun but respectful critique. It feels like there is a slow shift away from the core values that made this blog a succesd
This particular kurta is not my cup of tea – looks like a busy pattern nightie, but Anamika Khanna has some wonderful pieces for sure. Also, I for one really like it that you guys talked about the “bias” part – as a popular and growing blog, it’s nice/more transparent to put it out there that a look is getting a thumb’s up, sometimes, because of your penchant for the designer.
Fitting Reply!
Eventhough Iam a fan of AK’s work, the Diwali one Sonam wore looked messy…may be better on someone else
And whenever I see Sonam, these words by Sabyasachi comes to my mind(btw he wasnt refering to anyone in particular)
“Sometimes when I see these women so victimised by fashion I want to say, ‘You don’t need a handbag, darling, you need a hug,'” he tells Bandana Tewari.
Exactly what Sonam needs many a times… a hug, not an expensive designer piece.
Well said
LOL! That was an apt one for Bandana Tewari.
Lovely kurta! Earrings are unnecessary and loud
Anyone with an Anamika Khanna bias has my vote! And yes, Sonam usually gets it right, especially in AK. She looks grand here
Dear P&P,
Bravo!! You guys showed the guts and openness to admit of bias which most others commenting here wouldn’t dare show.Everyone is entitled to their preferences. This is your blog; you have every right to express here; period!
That said, I hereby admit to a strong Sonam, Neha, Kangana and Tisca bias plus Mini and Maria bias when it comes to sarees, that I tend to overlook some of the bad looks they feed us with, cos they turn up the heat 9/10 times with their looks. And I ADORE AK for the workmanship and perfection portrayed in her clothes. We are all humans entitled to opinion. So ignore the caustic criticisms and happily go on with your blogging. You go girls!!
P.s: N no, I am not the newly appointed PR for any of the above said girls 😛
