In Anamika Khanna

It was Anamika Khanna for Sonam while at the Filmfare Awards. Wearing her hair back, she finished out the look with matching ankle-strap sandals and some gorgeous Sunita Kapoor Signature Line jewelry. No one quite wears the designer like Sonam does and this look was no exception either; she owned the look. But, and there’s a but… Wish she hadn’t found the need to add a choker to the look. The other two necklace did the job just fine on their own!

  1. What on Good God’s Earth is she wearing? It looks like she walked out of some strange concept shoot … gone-mad heiress leaving her royal bathroom in vintage lace bra, silk towel navel-wrap and french chiffon robe … errr …

  2. Personally, I think she looks great overall. IF the choker hadn’t been added, the area around the neckline would’ve looked slightly odd – especially in terms of the awkwardness of where it would’ve drawn attention to. With the choker, the eyes move seamlessly up.

  3. I want to like it but I can’t! As other posters have pointed out it looks like a sarong and bra. The skirt makes her look stumpy too.

  4. This is my least favourite look of Sonam’s ever. The colour and the outfit do nothing for her. I agree that it looks very neglige like.

  5. Wait, why did she go to the awards show in a nighty!? It totally reminds me of an Aunty next door (neighbor) who had this satin night gown with a fitted lace bodice and she wore a cape/coverlet on it while answering the door! 🙂 I can’t erase that mental picture from my head anymore thanks to Sonam!

  6. PnP – Are you guys seeing some other picture.. It is like a night gown, bra and lungi and overcoat. It is disastrous.. And honestly she doesn’t have the body to pull off these kind of looks.

  7. Love the cape and the jewelry. Everything else – Just no. I agree the layer on layer on layer (!) of necklaces were added to probably draw away from the plunging neckline. This outfit may look great on a runway but everywhere else just ends up looking comical.

  8. I know fashion is subjective and thus one persons trash is another’s treasure
She may ‘own’ the look but it appears to be the case of the emperors new clothes. She thinks she’s wearing a gorgeous design and thus wears it with confidence. And you are bought into the illusion
When in reality she’s wearing a combination of negligee and satin bedsheets from Vikram bhatts last movie
But might as well throw on half her mum’s entire collection because well why not?

One of the worst looks I’ve ever seen on these pages.

  9. I have always disliked those shoes. She has a black version too. To me it doesn’t compliment her feet at all. If anything her toes look huge. I wish she would try a different style. And yes, while the outfit can be disaster if not worn well on the right body type, it just wasn’t my cup of tea.

  10. God awful. She may have her high fashion moments but this is straight out comical. It’s like she threw on some nightwear and accessorized from the set of Utsav.

  11. Wore a bra-check….
After that it’s that step when the parkar/petticoat is tucked up to check the heel height and you have the Saari on…. She decided to walk out of the house at that stage only….

    • Damn! That’s exactly what I hought. She had th petticoat pulled up to keep it out of her feet as she did her makeup, was trying on necklaces when she realise she got late, grabbed a housecoat and ran out of the house as she was

  12. dude! No maaan! I do think she pushes the envelope always when it comes to fashion, but this is baaaad….this is so so baaaad! Looks like a bad outfit in a fancy dress competition. Very confused!

  13. Apart from that travesty of an outfit, there’s some serious clash happening with the earrings and the million neckpieces. She should’ve skipped the former.

  14. P&P, time and time again, I have asked this same question:
WHERE ON EARTH CAN WE BUY SUNITA KAPOOR’S JEWELRY? Does she actually design the jewelry?

I would really love to buy some of her mother’s jewelry but it seems like it’s just exclusively for Sonam?

    thank you for your response.

  15. Oh no! This is such an epic fail from some one that is usually so impeccably dressed. Its too try hard and really does look like lingerie. The colour washes her out and the only thing I would save is probable the jewels (maybe).

    • Hahaha…ya PnP r die hard fans of sonam. Some day even if she wears a towel n come out, the will say…”Sonam AS ALWAYS cut a striking picture. Love her towel drape. ONLY sonam can pull off this look.” HELLO WTHEY ALERT!!!!

  16. Clothes add to personality, as much as its your personality that helps you pull of the clothes. A lot of people who think that these separates are basically a bra, lungi and a curtain are almost right, but when you look at all of it as an ensemble, I think it works. This outfit on someone else is a sure shot disaster, only a few like sonam, kangana, jacqueline, frieda.. can wrap themselves up in something so tricky and manage to look convincing and pretty. I mean it’s not totally unexpected, this is how she dresses up most of the time and still manages to cut a pretty picture.

  17. There’s different tastes and then there’s you guys finding even THIS Sonam look praise-worthy! She looks like an extra from a cheap remake of the Kamasutra! That horrible bra/blouse, tacky jewelry, wtf-looking draped thingy….one of her worst looks, and that’s saying a lot!

  18. Good thing about Sonam is , that she makes it all up with her smile!!! I love the look for its being no where like a normal red carpet look.. she experiments and doesn’t give a damn for your opinion!!! and that what she is … BTW love the look ..spells Sonam …unconventional and shocking

  19. I usually love sonams outfits.. But this one is a couture nightgown!! Oh Sonam!! She could have chosen a striking gown or a saree, but why this??

  21. reminds me of that ‘Juliette’ bra advert from the 80s.. its like a bad “shuhaag raat” scene like lingerie and jewellery… all she needs is sindoor… a wWTHEYYYYY

  22. I like this look except for that sheer robe. It does nothing to this ensemble. If the blouse was modified a bit to be more elegant than look like a lace bra, I would have loved it even more. While this look works because of Sonam, the color is also so-so. I am on the fence with this look… I like it when I dont look at details, but when I start looking at details, it falls flat.

  23. There are too many deepika fans here jealous of sonam and her fashion sense! Lol. Always prying for a reason to criticize her… But unfortunately for those she won’t give one, so they keep on blabbering whatever… Did u see Deepikas circus dancer gown LOL..

  24. I maybe a little late for the party!!But this dress is so hideous that I couldn’t get past without commenting !!And PnP, this just proves you guys have a mad girl crush on Sonam !!how else can u explain the fondness with which u have described this look!!? There is Aishwarya who is criticised for just getting the eye makeup wrong and then there is Sonam who just needs to step out in a lungi, bra and curtain for u guys to go all weak on ur knees !!and one more thing-serious question though : how does she attend the actual event? Will she take off her cape/curtain/whatever-that-is or does she walk around wearing that ?! I’m laughing out loud even thinking how she must’ve looked walking around in that thing!? ROFL!!
