Chanel Beginnings
September 1st, 2009 at 9:28 pm . by PayalWhile stateside, ‘Sex And The City 2′ started filming with Ms. Parker carrying around the same Chanel clutch seen first on Gauri, back home Sonam was spotted shooting for Aisha wearing blue linen shorts and a bronze metallic Chanel flap bag.
Two movies that we are quite looking forward to just so we can follow the lead character’s fashion style.

The clutch is so so, and I am not digging SJP’s styling in the movie. I was disappointed with the first one and I am not thrilled for the second one. Gauri looks good, and Sonam looks fresh, cute and young; her age.
She looks PERFECT.
of course, I meant Sonam.
Anything chanel will do…like anything. You can never go wrong with Chanel

3. I’m super excited for Aisha!!! I’m a big sucker for Austen, Paltrow’s Emma is one of my favorite movies and I’ve always thought that Sonam would be the best choice for a Bollywood Emma :D I love Abhay Deol too…but Mr. Knightly <3
4. Those pants look good from afar (and is it just me or does she look very Gwenyth in this??) but are sort of unflattering up close. I think it’s the material. I remember now, in one of Gwenyth’s add campaings for Este Lauder (I think) she wears a similar outfit except with darker shorts, but fitted well and flattering. These aren’t on Sonam.
and by darker I mean darker pink shorts. Everything else was almost exactly the same, lol, the irony

I want that ice thingy she is having! She looks sooooo cuteeeee! Yummy as ice cream :D
Sonam looks terrible in those unflattering shorts. Plus that Chanel bag (which is ugly by the way) does not go with the casusl look.
SJP looks good and so does Gauri except for the oily face as usual.

Let’s just say (And this probably long long due!) Sonam I think, trails fashion in the west avidly, and due to her background and financial status has the luxury of indulging and surrounding herself with it, studying it (read: trailing) and imbibing the culture of it… thus the shoots, the knowledge, the interest, the keenness, the names she spurts of in interviews confidently…
Reason this is being so admired and greeted very pleasantly (And I guess, understandably) is here is a girl who is of another grain, she is aware and knowledgeable about the subject, and speaks of it in a way that is rarity in the field she is working in… the majority of the elite that are visible in India; visibility in terms of being photographically, cinematically,editorially visible… have the financial capability but have not understood fashion as they have not imbibed it naturally and they take to it in a narcissistic, superficial manner and do not understand the subject of Fashion itself.
That will come with time, it’s all very fresh, very new to India, there’s too much chasing and gushing and less understanding it first…
Had to say this and Sonam has become the poster child for this argument looking at the reaction she is getting… Long overdue as I said.
Ignore all the errors an pls. try to understand what I attempted to articulate above.. It’s 7am and I’m half asleep.
I agree with you whole-heartedly—particularly what you wrote in the second paragraph—that explains about 99% of the fashion disasters/blunders we see here on HHC and spend countless hours debating/discussion.

You are right! The add is of Estee Lauder’s Pleasures Delight perfume or something. It can be googled. She’s wearing pink! I guess Sonam’s inspiration comes from Hollywood – which is why it looks so ‘fresh’ compared to other B-town girls.
I know right, and it’s not just the pink…actually, it’s probably the fact that this is a interpretation of Emma :) but the hair and the outfit…lol
Any idea what kind of footwear Sonam wore or would be suggested? Also, how on Earth did she manage to not look frumpy in those shorts? Homie can pull a lot off.

I think it is really easy to not look frumpy in those shorts. sonam’s entire outfit is very much right out of a JCrew catalogue. a nice pair of flats would look great with the outfit. maybe it’s giving off a frumpy vibe because of her posture?
Sonam’s shorts dont quite work…wish they were shorter or fit her better instead of being quite so baggy…she does look adorable though

hahaha I can’t imagine ANYONE with those blue shorts and pink belt and gold bag! She just manages to look so cute and comfy in that attire that she pulls it off with ease!
detest chain-strap bags, in general. the one (Chanel tag not withstanding) that sonam is carrying is no exception… her shorts look crumpled but she still manages to look cute…
love SJP’s ensemble especially the neckpiece with white dress combo…
Gauri – can’t look beyond her weird-looking cheek/bones… and that oily face… for lesser mortals like us it may be difficult to fix the problem 24/7 but for folks like Gauri – ????

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH TINA.. IF ANYONE OTHER THAN SONAM WOULD EVEN THINK OF WEARING THE SHORTS EVERYONE WOULD GO BESERK! I DONT GET IT.. SHE COPIES OUTFITS FROM THE WEST TO THE TEEEEEE! LIKE THE VOTING DAY WHEN SHE WORE BOOTS AND A MUFFLER IN 40 DEGREES!!!! AND IT WAS A RIPOFF OF THE TWINS!!! P AND P PLSS TELL ME WHY!!! WHY IS IT THAT WHATEVER SONAM WEARS IS SO BEAUTIFUL? It’s her charm…there is a certain charm in the way she carries herself…she photographs very well…every single angle of hers is good. And the way she carries her clothes…she owns it. Of course she is a privileged child…one cannot ignore that…she is lucky in that sense. Touchwood! Not everyone is so blessed! I think she acts pretty good…her dancing is not that great yet but she is still new and has time to improve.
