Sari Style

In character or close, Sonakshi attended the music launch of her upcoming movie in a sari. You like? Can’t say we do, we’ve definitely seen the beautiful actor do better. Not feeling this sari one bit.

On an aside, have you voted for us? Go here. Show us some love! 🙂

  1. I always try to make my self believe that this girl belongs to the same generation of sonam, anushka, parineeti…BUT she really look older( subtle version of aunty 😛 ) to me..is it her dressing style to blame or there is something else :\ and i guess m the only person to feel so :\ 😛

    • Nope. You’re not the only one who thinks that Sonakshi looks a LOT older than Sonam, Deepika, Anushka, etc. I’ve always thought that too. I think it might be the dressing style.

    • I totally second you on this. She easily looks of Madhuri/Sridevi/Raveena/Juhi’s generation. I think even Shilpa Shetty looks younger than her. Not sure what it is but she sure is a subtle version of an aunty.

      • 😛 true that.. but u cant hlp it.. shes a bit healthierr thn all other skinny girls on the block. so may b thts the reason

      • How lame!!! Just because she wears conservative clothes or rather traditional Indian wear without making them look cheap and trashy like the others with bra blouses and boob shows…she gets labeled aunty!!!!!

Most women get so offended when they are called aunty but they seem to do the same to others. I think she looks beautiful and classic and not an aunty. It’s fine to not like a sari but to label young women like that is so undignified.

        • She is not the only one to wear saree without showing skin..there are others too but those “other” don’t EARN the aunty lable..RANI is older to her and we often spot her wearing sarees only and she wear them off quite gracefull( i.e. no boob show and all ) and i have never seen RANI called as AUNTY in any of this blogs comment..so Sonakshi must have done something to earn that title 😛

          • Rani generally wears halter or sleeveless blouses with her saris, rarely she covers up this much. Maybe that’s why..if they wear covered up looks all the time, I’m positive they’d carry the same label … Like Vidya!

For that, the women SHOULD look young 😛 😛

          p.s. no offence meant

        • I agree with you Maya. All these aunty comments are really annoying. I think she looks her age and i love her figure and i love her styling in the movie – bindi, nathini, sarees. Everything ! So refreshing !!!!!!!!

          • Its not all about only this movie…she look all the same in other movies as well as in her different looks we encounter every now and then !!

    • She is definitely an ‘aunty’. Can pass off for a 35-40yr old with ease. But maybe I’m biased because I don’t like her one bit :D.

        • I din’t knew wearing halter and sleevless blouse makes you look young !!! its more about how you wear them and carry yourself &&& comparing vidya a 35 yrs old wid sonakshi 26 year old…are we???…now that is lame 😛 😛

        • Oo dear Maya.Give it a rest. People are having a little fun,and the comments are not even oozing bitterness. Can we just have a little fun.Even I do not like the Aunty comments but this time I chuckled because she really tries so hard with the Indian wear and comes across looking really old and boring.Even Vidya dresses in a similar way but she is being herself there and it does not look forced on.
Anyways having said that I kinda miss the old Sonakshi Sinha when she was not a star and was really edgy and was seen on lot of runways.

        • Oh so when you were 15-16 and your mums friends were like 35-40, you didn’t call them aunty? Or if you are 35-40, what do you expect your friends kids to you?

          • Haha well said! In India anyone over 30 i guess is called aunty by a teenager. And i ditto on her auntyness but she is definitely not as annoying as Vidya Balan though. 😛 This particular look although feels lije she borrowed thoughts from Vidya and ended up looking as aunty as VB.;P

    • everyone here has a problem with woman who aren’t super skinny.. we all fawn over sonam and deepika and kareena.. but when it comes to vidya or sonakshi you call them auntys.. and when some like imran khans wife dresses up in western clothes.. you say why cant she dress according to her body type…

      • I agree. Aunty is used as an alternative to body shaming.

Sridevi and Rekha would dress like this in their 20s. They were also not skinny by today’s standards. Today they would get an Aunty comment too.

She doesn’t look old. She has an old fashioned beauty.

What we consider a youthful look has changed.

  2. The broad border is killing it for me and the whole drape is making her look broad but her face looks beautiful. On an aside, I wonder if that’s the real color of her eyes? From Her pics before joining bollywood seems to indicate that this is the real color but I’m confused and curious.

  3. If she plans to be in character, I would love to see her in vintage style sarees that enhance her classical beauty. This type of saree can be bought at any store these days.

  5. Thats a terrible sari for anyone to wear – young or old.
And while how old she looks is debatable, she is no doubt an attractive girl, albeit not in a regular mode.
Really wish she’d worn a better sari.
Having said that, Ranveer looked amazing at the event. Why no post for him?

  6. I have no particular love for Sonakshi Sinha and she insits on killing the little interest that I have by dressing like this. She should stay away from large prints and borders and wear short sleeves instead of elbow length. Elbow length sleeves just emphasize the broadness of her arms.

  7. True this saree is making her look older. It’s probably because she has a “large” bone structure. But she is certainly an indian beauty.

  8. PnP, have you stopped moderating the comments? So many “aunty comments, and most of them have nothing to do with what she is wearing. Please stop this blog from going into trash territory.

  9. she is a beautiful girl and has carried off western outfits really well in the past as well as Indian. She just needs to be careful not to pick outfits like this one that age her tremendously.

On an aside I am surprised you would allow comments like the one from ‘pallavi’ above P&P. rather undignified.

She’s a beautiful girl – I don’t see how wearing a saree makes you an “aunty” or a “grandma” and a snug bodycon dress makes you “sexy”. Everyones got their own style.

I agree she can do better and this particular saree isn’t very flattering but I admire this blog for discussing strictly fashion and not skin colour, body type etc. Wish it would stay that way.

  10. She is a mass heroine with blockbuster hits. I doubt the Indian masses see her as an aunty. Her looks are certainly in the vintage mode though, and she radiates the calm confidence of a traditional desi beauty. Someone bucking the trend so much so confidently, is bound to attract haters.

  11. I am surprised at the comments on her comparative weight and “aged” looks. I am even more surprised that more and more PnP allows comments about the personal characteristics of the star being featured, that have nothing to do with the clothes or the look. i dont mind so much when such non-style related comments are positive (“oh she is so beautiful who cares what she is wearing”) but i do mind negative comments (“she’s so fat, she needs to loose weight, she’s an aunty haw haw haw”).

  12. She does look older than her generation but that’s alright, some people do look older while others never look their age. That said, this saree should not be worn by anyone young or old…I doubt it will look good on anyone.

  13. To all those women who thinks she luks “Aunty” I think its a very snide, catty remark. She luks gorgeous and minus the red bit had the blouse been saphire blue with no brocade this attire would have been gorgeous. She dresses age appropriate and I would take this over any HLeger n other bodycon dresses n micro minis worn by the likes of wannabe Europeans but confused desi diva’s anyday

  14. her skin glows which shows that she is young …and the body type of every one depends on their genes …..so plz dont say aunty or anything to a cute girl….people who judge others by their body structure are most backward people …. since GOD has not made evryone to please others …..
