In Shivan & Narresh

Wearing a Shivan & Narresh color-blocked sari, Shraddha attended the wedding reception held last night. Sticking to the minimalist theme of the sari, she chose to finish out her look with a side-knot, nude pumps and with no jewelry at all.

It was a risky move to take such a dramatically different approach given how everyone else was dressed in their festive best. But for the Shraddha, the risk paid off; she looked great!

  1. A smart way to stand out at a wedding reception 😉 This look is a winner but I can’t help wonder if the colours faded out in the absence of the flash lighting.

  2. Most people are so overdressed . She looks fresh but I wish she had worn one piece of jewellery. At least some amazing earrings or something in her hair

  3. Sorry.. I beg to differ..maybe this comes across as classy and different..but one thing that is missing is some minimal jewellry to complete the look..in my opinion bare hands neck and ears..look very morose in an Indian wedding.almost disrespecting the host..

    • Disrespecting the host would be to UP the bride or show up in skin show-trashy. She looks damn good. Not everything has to be blinged out and has to follow the desi way.

      • What’s wrong with keeping up with our culture and traditions instead of trying hard to mimic someone/something else? Trying to UP the bride is one extreme of being disrespectful. Attending a wedding as if you’re at a “sari cocktail night” is on the other end of this spectrum.

        • Whose ‘culture and traditions’? Given that India is multi cultural with a gazillion traditions. One of the pics had a woman in the background in a hijab and the black attire ( sorry the name of the attire escapes me). I hope Arpita gave her a sound yelling for disrespecting her because she didn’t roll around in glitter before showing up at the reception.

It’s all about showing up to bless the couple and share in their happiness. Who the F cares what you wear unless you are out there to make the event about yourself.

          • Well if who the F cares what people wear to a wedding.. then what are we all here for reviewing what ppl are wearing?

All i meant was any saree look is incomplete without jewelry.. by which i don not mean go all out.. even stud earrings and a diamond bracelet or a watch wouldve done the trick.. without which she just looks like a model walking the ramp and not attending a wedding reception..!

          • Hijab is a completely different matter altogether and doesn’t support your case. If it’s really down to “who the F cares” … then fine … bring out the red carpet and gold swimsuits to the next funeral. The point simply was, as Rajvi already said, simple stud earrings or a diamond bracelet would’ve also done the trick. It’s a wedding .. let’s dress accordingly … everything has a time and place.

          • Well said. India is a multi cultural society. Indian “culture & traditions” have been evolving every few decades. Indian christians wear white gowns for wedding which obviously no Hindu brides will wear but will have to do a tradition policing to point out that a gown is not according to Indian tradition. Wearing black was considered taboo for Indian wedding “traditions” and now so many people wear blacks to weddings in this century. She is wearing a lovely sari and kept it simple, I don’t see any disrespect from any angle.

  4. Yes for a cocktail party or something she looks amazing, and her figure is amazing. However for this wedding it doesn’t look quite right, maybe if she had added some fantastic diamond earrings and bracelet it would have looked better.

  5. looks super boring, flat and meh.
even worse considering that its a wedding reception.
Just because you are dressed different from the rest doesnt qualify your look to be a winner. Completely disagree with P&P

  6. Kudos to Shraddha for not caring a hoot about wearing fake contacts, white washing & stupid hair coloring like most of the Bolly brigade. Keeping it simple seems to be her mantra and is working just fine everywhere. Love her style.

  7. Shradhha looks amazing. Who cares if she’s wearing that?! If you are, you shouldn’t. Its her body, and I am damn sure that no one reprimanded her for wearing no bling. If you really want to look at it as ‘but the occasion!’, then let me say that it is a ‘wedding reception’, and usually there’s no tradition involved in that; its just a party. And for that, she’s dressed fabulously. She’s giving a big FU (in a ‘nice, look how differently I am dressed’ kind of way – I mean) to the other ladies. Counter-arguing about rolling the red carpet and/or wearing a swimsuit to a funeral is not just taking it too far, but THAT is offensive.

Coming back to the point, Shradhha looks fabulous. She’s got such a calm, serene look about her, always that is. Even in the Basanti song from Ungli, she looks beautiful, non-vulgar.

  8. Pls excuse my interference in an all girls conversation but i think SK should have worn some appropriate jewellery. When anyone dresses up i feel three boxes must be ticked at all times in the following order, 1. Suitable for weather, 2. Suitable for occassion, 3. Comfort level in wearing it. In this case most certainly the second isnt. We cannot swing like a pendulum from all bling to an empty look like this. Isnt striking a correct balance the ethos of dressing up?
