It’s a perfectly acceptable casual look, and Shilpa looks lovely; the denims aren’t my thing, but I generally don’t like distressed/ripped jeans.

The pants don’t go with the shirt. Its too much orange and the bag really puts things OTT. She looks great like she always does, but I just don’t like the look. Oooh lala! The honeymoon must have been good, she’s glowing ;)

What a horrible look!! She sure has some kinda obsession with animal prints…the picture is giving a very disheveled appearance! Just so colorful and mis-matched entirely!

What happens to their dress sense once they get married? Not good, as usual, Shilpa!

If only the denims weren’t ripped, it would have been a very cute casual look. I hate distressed demins…they NEVER look good.

gud she s nt wearin those ghastly chudas wich newly weds r fond of wearin they luk gud only on weddin outfits an nt on casual stuff…………………….
btw she luks awesum in dis bcbg top….

Choodas are not ghastly. They are part of tradition and culture. It’s similar to pregnant women wearing their bangles that were put for them during their bangle ceremony (seemantham) or Indian women wearing their mangalsutra or minji (toe ring). Such tradition is NOT ghastly.

Yeah she looks lovely…but should just get rid of those jeans. I wonder why people wear torn jeans. Not everyone can carry that grunge look. And yes no chudas….thanks god.

well said I totally agree with you…now newly weds can’t throw off their chudas within few days of marriage or should we say they should stop wearing western clothes?!
I rem’er when I worn my chuda here in US…every second person would ask me about it….and appreciate! God when will our own people start respecting/appreciating such traditions/rituals?!

I agree with you Shweta and Purple, I think it’s definitely a beautiful custom to wear these bangles for at least some time after one’s wedding. It’s an individual’s choice whether or not to get involved in these rituals, but I too find it rather distasteful of people to refer to such traditions as “ghastly”.

yeah… IMHO, chudah essentially look good with traditional indian clothing.. I have seen ladies wear them here in US even with the most teeny-tiny clothes in clubs/desi parties or otherwise and suddenly those chudas are gayab the next day when its time to wear the formal office wear!!! I wonder why this double standard..
sorry..have observed this too many times so cud not resist posting.

Hey if a person finds something ghastly. that is their opinion.

I agree choodas look as odd with western wear as binds with pants.

          3. kanika at |

Also I think she used the word ‘ghastly’ NOT for the custom of wearing chooda but the fashion aspect of wearing chooda with western wear.
And that is a fashion opinion.

That’s a lovely casual look. I wouldn’t expect her in dresses or something fancier than this for a movie screening. She looks fab as it is.

like the top on the model better.

I wish she had gone with black pants/jeans like the model. That would have really held the look together and helped blend the bag, top and shoes.

Horrrrrrible shoes! How could you miss those super-ugly shoes!! And I hate the denims too! She could have worn then in one piece. But LOVE the top!

The top is great. The jeans, not so much. If they were not ripped, she’d have nailed the look.
