At their reception, Shahid opted for a three-piece suit by close friend Kunal Rawal with bride Mira wearing a blue and white Manish Malhotra lehenga and baubles from Nirav Modi.

Again, our congratulations to the newlyweds!

  1. Both look great…cute couple! I am not a MM fan, but no denying that Mira carries the outfit really well. A duppatta would have completed the look, but she’s going the fusion route. Makeup, hair and jewels are just bang on.

  2. Am I the only one who thinks she’s missing something? oh wait, where’s her chunni? I’m a bit underwhelmed by this look especially after her previous gorgeous outfits in her wedding that she wore. No doubt she is very beautiful but this is a miss for me waist up!!

  3. She looks pretty and sweet, one of the few Indian brides I guess who does not think weddings = bright colours ! in the last pic she looks so much like Amrita Rao !

  4. Okay…BIG PROBLEM HERE.
    1. Suhagan/newly weds needs to wear bangles or churiyan or bracelet or something. Blank forearms are anti-bridal
    2. There is nothing bridal about this look….NOTHING
    3. Oh yea the outfits…..lets not even go there…..diaster of the year.

    • Anti- bridal ?? Lol !!
I believe the bride has the choice to dress up as she pleases..
Shahid is dressed like he would be at any awards red carpet.. Does it make him anti-groom whatever?

    • Anti bridal? How many states in india do you think women wear bangles after their wedding? She looked gorgeous and extra brownie points for skipping on the bling and bangles.

    • Yeag, underwhekming and so non bridal. She was so bridal and perfect on her wedding without being OTT. This look does nothing for her.

  5. her wedding style dint appeal to me at all… It seems like she is ready to step out for a close relatives wedding …. WHITE for heavens sake… for her own reception…. n biggest of all no dupatta. …

  6. Since it’s her wedding, I think she reserves the right to set the rules on what she wants to wear and what not. Anti-bridal, seriously?

    • +100. I don’t get these archaic rules that people are holding her to. I appreciate her simplicity and elegance. It’s so easy to be tempted to go all out and OTT.

    • everyone does have a right to wear what they like but having said that, seriously why would someone go against the prevailing norms and wear white/no bangles/no dupatta..just to show you are a modern couple ? but modern doing what ? trying to wear or do something against a normal prevailing culture is being a rebel without a cause..not modern..since you neither are wearing a typical western gown nor are your doing what looks lovely and acceptable in our culture.
It looks silly and people will call it out .

      • May be because she likes white? The elegance it exudes? White is also a bridal color in other communities. More importantly, this is a reception, a party, and not a “ceremony.” So you would dress as you would for a party. But most of all, it’s her day and she can wear a toga if she wants. And it’s definitely not about making some statement.

          • Let her be! She looks lovely and is enjoying her big day; isn’t that enough.

As for the mehendi, I think I understand the understated one for the wedding. Considering the gap between the wedding and the mumbai reception, had she gone all out on the mehendi, it would have worn out and looked worse. I had the same dilemma for my wedding, a 5 day gap. I decided to skip mehendi altogether for the wedding and got an elaborate one for the reception. To each their own.

    • Seriously! Who decided what is the template bridal look everyone MUST adhere to? She looks wonderful and comfortable … We tend to forget the wedding is about the bride and groom 😉

  7. Not a fan of the MM and this outfit. But LOVE her style .No OTT /sho-sha.Not trying to show her gold jewelry. She is elegant and stylish .

  8. She looks pretty and so much like Kate Middleton! I like her take on the modern, simpler version bridal-wear, but I do wish she had put little more effort into looking like a “bride”. Think Soha Ali Khan – her outfit was simple, but lacking on impact it was not. Mira just looks like one of her guests unfortunately.

  10. Love that she danced to her own tune in regards with her outfit..thumbsup for that…Call me old fashioned but I too miss the trade mark wedding chura, bindi or anything remotely bridal..

  11. I too think that this look is missing the chunni. There is nothing bridal about this look. Disappointed after the fabulous looks in Delhi events.

  12. I know people would prefer to be more bridal but maybe its her personal style to not be over the top, its her day. Only thing I would have liked if she and Shahid had coordinated better, maybe a royal blue bow-tie to match the colors of her outfit.

  13. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry at the “anti-bridal” comments. Had to double-check my calendar to ensure that we are actually in 2015.

Among the recently-profiled brides on HHC, Mira effortlessly outshines everyone else with her minimalist accessories, perfect make-up and non-blingy attire. Such a breath of fresh air!

  14. I think it’s her wedding and comments like ‘anti-bridal’ are inappropriate. She’s done with the actual wedding ( looked pretty and very bridal!) and probably wanted a relaxed reception look. No question that a silk wrap would have made this much better – but hey!

  15. I really like it and that’s saying a lot, given it’s a Manish Malhotra! Not getting on the anti-bridal bandwagon et al, I would love to see a lovely dupatta with the look. Think it would have looked really awesome. Just saying.

  16. While I agree that she reserves the rights to wear what she wants, this is not a choice that impresses me…I loved her wedding outfit but I dont find this elegant either…Its just bizarre…She does look lovely though.

  17. Am I the only one who has been underwhelmed re: all her wedding looks? Expected more. And when I say more, I do not mean bling/OTT jewels etc. All her outfits seem to be lacking something. BUT, that doesnt take away from her looking beautiful. Congrats to the couple, I look forward to seeing her wardrobe choices in the future.

  18. Am i the only one who thinks she looks amazing and beautiful. I think her minimal look as a bride is what make her outstanding. I’m glad she did not go for all the bling this something prettier and i love that Lehnga… MashAllah

  19. I think she looks lovely! She’s a young woman and the outfit clearly reflects her personal taste and this is a reception outfit several days after her wedding, so why should she have mehendi on and be all decked up like a bride, when she already did that at her wedding. I’m not a big MM fan but like the blue and white combination and her minimalist look which still looks stunning. For those with all the tips on what she should/shouldn’t have worn, please feel free to follow them at your own wedding and not impose them on others!

  20. Honestly, she is so beautiful. I love her style. Simply understated and pure elegance, both compliment each other so well. There are no rules on how to dress up for your wedding. You need to be happy and comfortable. She is such a breath of fresh air, classy, much needed break from that ott bling bling vegas kind of brides.

  21. That is a gorgeous dress. I love both the skirt as well as the top. Major love to skirt! And I’m seriously going to ignore anti bridal comments. Its her wedding people!!! Let the woman breathe in the clothes she wants to wear.. and not die under the load of those jeweleries and ornate chunaries and hair buns and what not!

She is beautiful, beautiful girl! Looks so slick and elegant here! She is alia’s age and not from a filmy background.. yet I already see her shining over some of the newcomers! That beautiful and composed her looks are. 🙂

  22. I bet when she looks back she will wish she wore something that made her shine on her special day. She look like a guest at a party. While I appreciate her simplicity and refusal to go blingy and bedazzled , this look just does not work. Underwhleming to say the least.

  23. I was like, it is her wedding reception and this is not a reception-dress. She looks cute though.
But the dress the dress color.. yawn…

  24. Anti-bridal?! Just because you consider something bridal or ‘anti-bridal’, doesn’t mean others have to as well! There is and should be no ‘have to’, there is and should be only ‘want to!’ I am sure some people consider any colour other than red, laughing on that day etc. ‘anti-bridal’ as well! What archaic thinking.

  26. Just coz it is her wedding ..is no reason to wear something so underwhelming and not festive! She does look pretty but not like a bride at her reception.just another face..
we are aping the west too much ..minimalist..and lehengas with no dupattta…This silly fusion Does not work !! no duppatta looks awkward.
The basic reason you are having people over for your reception is because you want to share your joy want to be applauded..then to show the same guests that hey ! look at me .I just got married but I am western in my thoughts…so no dupatta for me ! I am an Indian but aping the west so I want a fusion…
Be proud of your culture at least at your wedding

  27. The earrings are lovely. I like the lehenga but not the blue bits, the floral embroidery on the lehenga and pearls on the choli are gorgeous. I would have gone for a dupatta but maybe she felt it would detract from the beautiful all over embroidery. So nice we have diversity in India–red isn’t the only colour for a bride (eg we wear white in Kerala), neither are bangles de rigeur for all. It’s her day and she looks great. And her arm candy ain’t so bad either 😉

  28. It is a public wedding reception…where the couple invited people.
For this reason alone the dress warrants a dupatta.Othewise wear a proper western gown.Don’t do half this and half that..looks foolish and takes away from her elegance.
Those of you who say its her day her choice…will a bride with a classy nightie welcoming guests for reception be okay ? same goes here.
