    • Exactly what i was thinking. Having said that, she has started “dressing up” more these days, and she looks beautiful in the sari. How elegant does Shabana look here ! Love.

  2. For a women famed for her enviable collection of sarees and jewellery, rekha seems to repeat this and that ott gold saree an awful lot. Its time she added a few new numbers to that kanchivarram collection:) shabana azmi looks good and jayas dressed better than her bahu for the occasion.

  3. Gorgeous sarees!! They look wonderful. Of course Rekha has gone overboard, but it doesn’t surprise us anymore. Wish she had removed the mang tikka, then it would have been acceptable. Shabana looks radiant in her South Indian look. Jaya ji can give dressing tips to her bahu, atleast for this occasion.
Where is the post for the mother of the bride?

  4. Mz. Azmi looks the best of the three..and Omg Rekha looks like she is 25 years old…and Mrs Bacchan is trying to show off her pallu? in that weird way she is holding her sari like a blankie wrapped around in the winter…it’s nevertheless a good sari she is wearing

  5. Shabana looks lovely and very age appropriate. Love it. Jaya could drape it better. And Rekhs is too OTT. Once in a while is pardonable but every single appearance ?

  6. Rekha, hideous, overboard. Jaya’s sari is lovely though she didn’t need to draw it *quite* so much around herself like that! Shabana looks gorgeous.

  7. Shabana Azmi looks so elegant! Rekha looks like she’s going to start performing one of her Umrao Jaan numbers but still looks pretty. I don’t get why Jaya has draped her saree like that. If she was cold, a shawl would have been a better choice to drape around her. Her saree is pretty but draped horribly.

  8. Rekha is a diva and looks the part. Her sari is gorgeous–so what if she looks “young”-why is that a crime…good for her for taking care of herself. Granted the tikka is a bit much for the average “auntie”–but she’s a legend. Shabana is known for her “down-to-Earth” attitude, so of course she looks nice but uneventful. Mrs. B just never has seemed to figure out her style approach.

  9. Azmi looks the best here, very graceful. Mrs. B wraps her saris around her like she’s cold; she always seems swaddled in them. Rekha’s OTT like always. All the saris are gorgeous though!

  10. I get that Rekha loves her kanjeevarams, but I would really like to see her in one that is not tissue and/or all-over zari. You wouldn’t know if by looking at Rekha but, yes, these kinds of kanjeevarams DO exist! I honestly wonder if this is her version of exercise, because her sarees must each way a few kgs 😉

Shabana Azmi, contrastingly, is a breath of fresh air in what have invariably been OTT/gaudy choices at these festivities. Jaya Bachchan also had a nice balance without going overboard.

  11. Love all 3 of them and then a little more love for Shabana’s outfit , perfectly appropriate for a part South Indian wedding ..wish I had that red saree. I love mrs jaya drape, it really shows off the pallu, and how in the wide world does Rekha look this young ?

  12. Every Indian woman in Saree looks gorgeous. Rekha you look very beautiful but would like to see dress down a bit. You were overshadowing the bride herself (check Ahana’s pics with Rekha).. Sometimes less looks best..

  14. Jaya: This is a chage towards the better from the usual Abu Jani Sandeep creations that she wears, but the pallu draped that way takes away from the saree.
On the otherhand these colours are so good for her, vibrant, festive colours!

Shabana: She looks lovely. She does make sartorical choices, but this is a good look on her

Rekha: This is not as OTT as some of her other appearances, but not liking her saree that much.

  15. I used to have an athai – my mother’s aunt, actually – who looked exactly like Mrs. B, complete with that flower round the ‘kondai’ look. And she too would drape the thalappu over her shoulder like Jaya has done. It is non-threatening. It is banal, almost boring. Perhaps she is tired of being paraded out in all her finery. Perhaps she just wants to turn up, docile, pause to gather that ragged end of the thalappu and toss it over the shoulder. And that way, it won’t gather all the dust on the floor. And leave the attention to the young bride who is resplendent in hope and gold.

  16. Rekha is a legend and exists in a starry zone beyond common considerations, the definition of glamour, floating in a cloud of razzle dazzle and setting tongues wagging. Never change. Imagine if Rekha landed up looking like anyone else, the horror! My broken heart! 🙂
Shabana’s sari is lovely, old school elegance, can anyone ID it?
