Sari Style

The ladies went traditional for their respective appearances in Bengali-style draped saris. They both looked lovely.

  1. Kudos to both for taking on this radically different from the mainstream aesthetic and wearing them right. Kajol wears her saris proudly as a Bengali, but for Ms Gaurav to wear them while not being of Bengali heritage, is positively daring! No one does pastels like Bengali weavers, very sophisticated and artistic graphic aesthetics….

  2. Pratima scored some lovely Dhakais it seems…first the yellow and now the sea-foam – and this time the draping (apart from being absolutely perfect) IS event appropriate 🙂 Love her long pearls and big ear-rings…perfection!!
Kajol looks lovely neck up…but that draping is a hot mess!!

  4. LOVE Pratima’s sari and the way she has worn it. Luv that they make the traditional saris work today. Can you please tell me where I can get saris like this? or can someone ask Pratima – being a designer I am sure she’s the best sourcer.

  6. Pratima carries the sari very gracefully. Kajol looks nice but her sari is a mess. I love this Bengali sari look. Kudos to Pratima for making it look so beautiful.

  7. Both of them have picked fabulous sarees and carry the drape well! Though Kajol is wearing the shakha-paula(red & white bangles) incorrectly. Sure many must have noticed that, given the occasion!

  8. Pratima’s look is perfect! Her jamdani, the way it’s been draped, the puffy sleeved blouse, the long necklace all screams out Bengali without making it look too costumy.
Kajol’s saree is very pretty and appropriate for Durga Pooja celebrations and it’s nice to see her taking an interest in fashion but her manner of draping the saree spoils it all. The “ek pech” draping style is not supposed to look like this!
