Sari Style

Dia kept it simple, really simple while at Queenie’s store launch. And though the white blouse seems very stark against the green sari and we’d have cried foul on anyone else, it wasn’t quite the deal-breaker on Dia; she makes it work. Ms. Mirza looked nice!

  1. She looks really nice! Bravo.

just like my future daughter-in-law to be!

Girls, start dressing like this, you will get good husband and mother in law will be happy.

    • How very antiquated of you. I am guessing this is meant in jest, but still, I don’t need to or want to wear a saree to get a good husband. And “mother in law will be happy” ?

Welcome to the 21st century where these things don’t matter.

    • What a terrible thing to say. Why should any girl start dressing up to please and seek potential husband and mother in law and not how SHE herself wants to? The men and their mothers need to accept the girl for who they are.

      • OMG …..I can’t decide whether to laugh or cry …..why would any girl dress to please a potential husband and his mother ……huh?

      • Even if it is meant to be sarcastic it doesn’t make much sense. I am positive that even in 21 century there are million girls out there who are taught to dress in a certain way by lot of families and its common place i suppose. But still those families are not going to anyway let you walk in a sheer saree showing your midriff i would assume. I am really confused about what this comment means. o_O

    • Aww that’s sweet!!!!!

I don’t know if this was in jest or sarcastic but if it wasn’t I know a lot of the girls are hating on Kanchanmasi but there’s nothing really wrong with what she’s saying to be honest. I know we’ve all progressed and become ultra modern and fabulous and I’m rocking a mini skirt when I go out and I’m sure a good man will be happy with that but we’re still Indian – the culture still values simplicity, feminitity, sweetness etc (like most other cultures in the world!). Let’s be real here would YOUR mother be more pleased if you dressed like this or if she saw you in a club outfit? Let’s get real ladies!

She’s not saying to lock yourself in the kitchen and wear a burqa she’s just saying that dressing like a classy, sweet preson will attract a good man and that’s true for ANY culture – dressing in an overtly sexual manner usually doesn’t attract the best types of men/women/attention (just watch What Not To Wear with Stacy London and Clinton Kelly). Get off the soapbox ladies – mot of your responses are so so snobby!

  2. oh no no. the white blouse is a complete deal-breaker. dia looks nice, she always does. but sartorially, that white blouse with that olive saree is straight out of how-not-to-wear-a-solid-colour-chiffon.

  3. I like everything except the slightly skimpy blouse. I wish it was a bit more modest considering the gossamer fabric of the sari. Otherwise I really like this look.

  4. Dia totally makes it work! I think it works because she has draped the saree well and doesn’t do the one boob pallu. I also love her earrings and jholi! It’s such a lovely summery look!

  5. She looks nice but this is so 90s-Sooraj bharjatya and should never have reared its ugly head in 2013.
I disliked this look in Hum Aapke Hai Kaun and its not looking any better now.

  7. The more you look at her in this, the more you are convinced that a woman’s smile is the only sure-shot way to look pleasant and beautiful! Who cares what she’s worn when one can’t look beyond that radiant smile? BIG Dia fan!

  8. But once you do look beyond her radiant smile 🙂 , one wishes she added a gold kada/ a statement ring..Those dainty hands look quite bare…Don’t mind her saree or blouse though…she makes it work!
