In Sabyasachi

Rani attended the British Asian Trust Dinner in London on Tuesday evening wearing an ornate no-points-for-guessing Sabyasachi anarkali with a matching clutch.

Offsetting the gold look with a bold red lip, she finished out the look with an updo and smoky eyes.

I, for one, loved the look. You?

  1. Rani is looking stunning. Looks like she is making some effort finally. So glad she got rid of all those choodas, choodis, dhagas, sindoor, bindi etc etc.

  2. Rani is back doing what she does best…(read: looking absolutely resplendent in a Sabya). Love love love the makeup and the powdery gold anarkali.

  3. Once I see beyond all that gold facade, I actually quite like her look! Her (new-found, in all probability) stylist and makeup artist deserve an applaud.

  4. That is Oh-So-Gorgeous!!!! I love this dull golden attire of hers and it compliments her earthy skin tone so so well. A pop of red colour which she’s wearing is just the job!

  5. If you see the press photos that came out in the UK, daily mail etc, she looks like a geisha… whitewashed, red lips and no contouring. She looked great in poland, not so much here. Typical badly / over made up bolly star. In these photos, in close up, handpicked, she looks OK. And no I could not have guessed Sabya at first glance – he did a gaudy special just for his have actress me thinks.

  6. Good grief! This outfit is so over the top and juvenile. Cheap looking fabric with low grade sequin bling work. Her face of course is lovely but is overwhelmed by all the gold.

  7. All the foundation from the bottle seems to have been poured on Rani ‘ s face. It is so annoying to see fairness being equated to beauty. Urrrghh!

    • THANK YOU!! The second I saw these pics my first thought was ‘Why the hell does this entire look look so familiar to me? Who has done this very same look?’. She is wearing the same outfit with the similar side-updo..!Seriously thank u sooo much for putting me out of my misery..

  8. The outfit is less of a problem because it is beautiful but there’s just too much gold and needed to be toned down. My biggest problem here is makeup; it lacks dimension, depth and seems a little dry (no alliteration intended).

    1) The foundation is too ashy for her because a) it’s clearly the wrong undertone; b) at least two shades lighter; and c) most likely has SPF in it, which is notorious for ‘washing out’ faces. She needs to get a colour match to her skin tone, skin type and undertone. If the foundation isn’t perfect, anything you add to it just seems out of place.

    2) The lipstick is too much. A lightly-applied red lip stain would have worked a lot better here.

    3) If the lips are statement, the eyes should have been left neutral. A well-blended skin-toned eyeshadow, lightly smudged kohl liner with mascara would create the perfect balance, especially given the event.

    4) The dupatta should have been in black and the clutch should have been black with gold work.

She looks beautiful but as per usual, it’s the minor details in the styling and questionable skill with the makeup that keep this look from being outstanding and in the process are an injustice to a beautiful woman.

  9. dear rani, when your face is whiter than prince charles’ , don’t u think u went too far with the white washing? Nearly 68 years after independence , we still feel the need to mask our identity behind a fake white facade? I am really surprised that p&p have not taken a stand

  10. You’re joking, right? In the pic with Charles and Camilla, Rani’s make-up looks nautanki style. Shocking for someone aspiring to be at that level of the world stage.

  11. She looks fabulous!!!! Elegant as she always does. The sequin work is tasteful and not over the top like some are suggesting. She has stuck to the gold palate and the bold lip complements this. This is an evening event so the outfit is appropriate and yeah she is representing a section of Indian culture that is Bollywood so its appropriate. If she wore this whilst giving a speech at the UN or wore this to the races at Ascot then yeah it would be inappropriate but she is on a night out at the British Asian Trust and representing Bollywood so Im glad she brought the glitz and glam because that is who she is!! She looks AMAZEBALLS!!!!!!!!!!
