In BCBG

On the Radio Mirchi sets, Rani gave us a casual look in a BCBG colorblock dress and we quite loved what we saw. Now, we just have to wait for a full length to make sure she didn’t go wrong with the footwear.

Update: Here are the full-length pics and we’ll have to say, we’d have prefered a more edgy sandal to go with the colorblock dress than these satin ones.

  1. i think rani has finally invested in a stylist that she so desperately needed…..i mean before this i could never imagine rani in a grey outfit minus OTT accesories

  2. Rani’s probably the trimmest she’s ever been, but something about her — maybe the lack of height? — just doesn’t work with western clothing. It’s not just about weight guys, it’s about some insurmountable facts of physicality! Western clothes are just MEANT to hang better on flatter bodies! Now imagine Sonam in this dress…

    • But in the West, there a lot more girls who like Rani vs. Sonam. They all look great! Look Sonam has a great body and is tall and lean. Still, that doesn’t mean she’s the only one who can wear Western clothes.

  3. Can I just say how lovely it is to be seeing Rani? I was getting soo sick of seeing Priyanka and Katrina. She looks great… gosh hope her shoes were nice… I think sneakers would be the only shoes that would look bad with this outfit… any colour would look fine so hopefully…

  4. SWIT SOO!! The eye makeup is great with this dress. The hair also looks good, the side fringe makes a diff from the usual hair we see her in. I like the dress cause it can be worn casually too!

  5. I don’t think I have ever felt this way with indian actors. but I think she should lighten her hair a bit. Would like nice and warm on her.

    she looks lovely.

  6. she looks nice here. like others, i too like the different hair and the eye makeup. i especially feel that the heavy eye makeup sort of balances the casual-ness of the jersey top in the dress. the only issues i have are her pose (sends out a meek vibe, it makes her look a bit afraid) and the shoes (i think teh ankle straps make her legs look shorter. she should’ve borrowed preity’s black louboutin pumps).

oh and also, i will continue replying to other people’s comments if i’ve got something to add. thanks, P&P, for giving us this platform to voice our opinions 🙂

  7. Um…not to be rude (and as a fellow short one who has to slave for hours in the gym to be reasonably fit) but…does she still have this “fit” body?? She was never REALLY toned and…I don’t know. She looks a little stumpy in this…and I don’t know, something’s off. Maybe it’s the hair. I’m shorter than she is, and I totally work the western clothing -__- so don’t even go there girlies.

    • You know I am glad you dared to post this because I thought I was the only one-especially since I too am a ‘fellow short one who has to slave for hours in the gym to be reasonably fit’. She looks slimmer and it’s apparent that she works out but I am not sure I would go as far as ‘fit’ and ‘perfectly toned’ and all that shabang. Rather it’s more like compared to Rani from the past she is more fit now.

      • totally agree with the two of you! she looks slimmer but only in relative terms… and the combination of that dress (two colour blocks) with those ankle-strap sandals… makes her look thick-waisted, with short legs…

    • The western toned and the Indian toned are two different things. I’m sure its a case off ” tooo toned bodies do not look good in Indian clothes” . So they find a middle ground like this one – a slim body. I’m not sure who called her ” toned ” . Its not the right word. But she does have a great body ! Lets commend the weight loss !

      • Are they two different things? I disagree about the idea that toned bodies do not look good in Indian clothes, look at the models, they looks fabulous. Nicely toned arms work GREAT with a saree. I’m not saying that there’s anything wrong with not being not toned, but we shorties don’t carry weight very well. She’s lost weight for sure, but let’s not call her the epitome of fitness (and I don’t even mean bulky).

You know, I do think that she’s pretty toned and muscular, this dress just doesn’t highlight that.

        • id like to add something here!

Some short women just have broader structure, so no matter how much they work out or how much weight they lose, they dont look LEAN. this is sometimes translated to not “looking” fit. Even tall women have the same issue. For eg: Bipasha and Deepika both are of the same height (almost) but bipasha has a broader body frame so no matter how toned she is, she will still look bigger than Deepika, who is extremely lean!

Everyones body is different! ita not about how thin you are or how toned you are, its making the best of your body.

  8. I think it’s her face. I mean her body is the slimmest it’s ever been and that’s not the problem. I know there are people who can pull off western clothing without even abody like hers (plenty of Bollywood aunties and socialites). I think her face is too “Indian” for lack of a better word. It’s round and wide and just….very Indian. And on top of that it’s her personality. She really looks like she owns the territory when she wears sarees. In outfits like these, you can make out she’s not at her most confident.

    • I think it takes time to gain the kind of confidence ur talking about…at least she’s trying and is not making a fool out of herself…I mean, she isn’t trying to be in ur face cool or trying too hard to be sexy…she’s experimenting…also she may have been a queen in the sari territory in the past because her body just didn’t compliment western wear…sari’s hide the worst of ur body flaws, and they drape your assets the best…lets give her time to evolve her fashion sense…no harm in that rite?

  9. Rani looks fabulous here, especially compare to the recent Hi Blitz disaster. as much as i like her here, she just seems more comfortable and more herself in Indianwear than anything western. her recent attempts seem desperate somehow….like shez trying to join the teen brigade.

  10. LOVE the dress. Shoes do nothing for me though.
But overall good job Rani (&/or Rani’s stylist). Can’t wait to see her next appearance ^_^.

  11. I think she looks great! Not perfect but come on it’s Rani…in relative terms she looks great! Hopefully she will find her groove with western wear as she continues to try different things…being shorty myself I know how tough it is to be trendy without looking like donuld duck 🙂

  12. Rani looks awesome…she isn’t stick thin, and doesn’t look starved…yes she is short, but I think this length complements her…the best thing about her new look, is that her body still has the necessary curves…I don’t think you need to be flat to pull of western clothes…honestly, in the west pple spend money to get ‘enhancements’…so the curvy look with this dress is fine…my only gripe is that her side sweep fringe looks a little too school girlish…a slightly more relaxed hair do would have made her look more at ease…but really there isn’t much to critique about this look…

  13. The dress is ok, nothing too great. It needed some sky high black pumps to take it to another level. Or maybe even a pop of color with bright colored pumps.

P.S. – Rani (and Priyanka) always looks10000000 times better when she is smiling. Not fake posing smiling, but like a big toothy smile.

  15. IDK .. but something is off!! The shoes maybe .. or may be the hair… its not like a WOW .. which almost always used to happen for me earlier (yes!!, with all that weight).
I think it’s the face .. something’s missing .. that raw appeal she had is missing ,, I am yet to see a recent RAni appearance which would make me go bonkers!!

But seriously P&P, you’ve got to cover Rani in Dus Ka Dum.. i mean that’s something!!

  16. I am not a fan of BCBG, but she looks good, she looked better in the M missoni maxi, but she wore on Dus Ka Dum was absolutely outragous. Shoes that tie around the ankle make one’s legs look shorter.

  17. Very well done… I would not listen to anything bad about this. A big refresher after the series of dull looks. I have no idea what everyone is talking about but she looks fit.

  18. She looks awesome! Beautiful hair, dress, everything.

As for the comments about her frame– well, not everyone wants bony limbs and flat boobs…she does have curves, which make her look feminine and attractive. Most guys don’t like to caress bones or rock hard biceps, they like a little softness and rani has a good balance of it.
